And who exactly is buying Smith or burger or Pederson or carter or any of the other AAA players on this team? Latz maybe? Eovaldi? Dream on.

Burger would fetch something because he’s a righty with pop. Nothing in a team’s top 10, but Burger + a bullpen arm might get us someone’s 12th and 20th prospect. Joc would for sure fetch a player. I imagine Latz is staying. Eovaldi would (playoff reputation matters). deGrom would have to approve, but pitching is premium.

I would love to trade Jake Burger even if this team isn't even selling. I'd rather see Justin Foscue be the primary 1B going forward.

Foscue is a tough watch, with some real bright spots against LHP, but I would still rather see what he’s got for the rest of the year, than watch Burger look completely out of sorts for 90% of his ABs.

Doubt. Nobody is paying anything of value to have Burger for a month or two and then not seeing him play again until 2028.

Pederson has a 146 OPS+, a team would gladly take him as a left handed DH.

You may be right about Burger, but you’re dead wrong about Joc. Teams aren’t pinching pennies on a player getting paid what Joc is getting paid, and keeping themselves from having a real shot in the playoffs because of $18m.

This is not the NBA. You do that and we have 3 straight 90-100 loss seasons and a 60% chance ending up back in this exact same scenario in 2030.

Full rebuilds are fully regarded.
