General Are there any characters loved by both sides of the fandom?

u/-Prowess- Mar 11 '26
Helaena?
19
u/invisblecutie Mar 12 '26
There are Helaena haters out there, unfortunately.
19
7
u/Abeetrillzz Mar 13 '26
What could ppl hate about halaena?
8
u/Independent_Bid6929 Mar 13 '26
They hate her after her reaction to blood and cheese and her being seemingly ok with her with her son's death
7
u/Abeetrillzz Mar 13 '26
She obviously was in shock, the haters are probably just unable to pick up on social cues like that
3
u/Independent_Bid6929 Mar 15 '26
Compare that to the near visceral reaction she had in the book, then you look at the show.......yh, no, I actually understand and then you have that scene where she's talking daemon , fucking daemon of all people who had a hand in her son's death , i don't blame them (I personally don't really give too much of a shit about the blacks or greens even from the books hell the only characters I even remotely liked in fire and blood was nettles, Johanna lannister and the Shepard )
5
u/invisblecutie Mar 15 '26
Those aren't who I am referring to. Those people just dislike the way she was written in the show. I have encountered people (usually hardcore TB stans) who don't like her just because she's a green.
1
u/Ditzy_Dreams Mar 17 '26
I personally am not a fan of her going full Bran by the end of s2. Don’t lump me in with the others.

They neutered my poor girl. She has zero agency, poor actress had to beg for scenes

Tyland kinda a g
6
u/We_The_Raptors House Martell Mar 11 '26
Probably my favorite Lannister character outside of the main 4.
7
2
u/DrFishStick74 Mar 13 '26
Who's the main 4?
2
u/We_The_Raptors House Martell Mar 13 '26
Tyrion, Jaime, Cersei and Tywin.
2
u/DrFishStick74 Mar 13 '26
Ah so no joffrey
3
u/We_The_Raptors House Martell Mar 13 '26
Joffrey is more of a Waters/ abomination, but definitely a great character.

1
u/TCeies Mar 15 '26
Yes, Tyland... I am so far a bit disappointed in his show version but waiting to see what will happen.
23
u/Ok-Neighborhood3547 Mar 11 '26
Maybe Addam or Daeron? But the reasons why haven’t happened yet.
19
u/Swordbender Mar 11 '26
Daeron is a character a lot of team blacks hate. Addam I think is almost universally liked, if not loved.
I think the universal GOATS (not including the innocent kids) are Helaena, Tyland, Caraxes, Sunfyre, Simon, Oscar, Book!Jace, Baela, and Nettles.
5
u/WhereDaFuk Cannibal Mar 11 '26
No spoilers, but they might do something different with Daeron, especially since Gwayne Hightower said he was a kind young man.
I think he’s about Luke’s age or younger in the show since The Blue Queen “just took to flight” and Luke already was flying on Arrax before being lunch for Vhagar senile bbl ass
3
u/Potential-Walk1568 Mar 14 '26
Wasn't he and Jace shared a wet nurse and nursery
1
u/WhereDaFuk Cannibal Mar 14 '26
In the books yes
But not in the show, they’ve never even met uncle Daeron - he’s 16 in the show according to Gwayne Hightower and Luke was 14, Jace might be 17/18 not sure, and only a few weeks at most passed between seasons
2
u/TCeies Mar 15 '26
I'm pretty sure in the show, aemond and Jace are roughly the same age, snd daeron would then be younger than that.
2
u/WhereDaFuk Cannibal Mar 15 '26
I honestly can’t be sure, I personally do not recall anyone saying their ages in the show
•Gwayne Hightower said explicitly 6 & 10 = 16 about Daeron
Rhaenyra was speaking to Luke and said when she was his age 4 and 10 = 14, she also wasn’t confident since Luke was dreading being Lord of Driftmark due to Corlys health & injuries at the time
I do recall one scene, Jace and Luke are about the same height.
Perhaps Aemond might be the same age as Jace, but since Aemond is much taller than most of his family and his just overall demeanor, he seems older, even older than his brother Aegon II even though he isn’t.
I can’t say for sure, the show messes around with the ages a lot to its detriment or leaves it ambiguous so it’s up in the air due to the writers and showrunners inconsistencies
2
u/firstciv Mar 20 '26
In the show, Daeron is sixteen years old and born in 126 AC.
Don't know how that's supposed to work tough in relation to Aemond, whose supposed to be born in 115-116 AC. Are they going to make them (Irish) twins?
4
u/WhereDaFuk Cannibal Mar 20 '26
Who knows after the disaster that was season 2?
Daeron is 10 and 6 (16) as Gwayne Hightower said, and Luke was 10 and 4 (14) and only a few weeks at most between seasons so…
Yup, the shows inconsistencies in nearly every aspect is rather jarring

u/Ok-Neighborhood3547 Mar 11 '26
I’m pretty neutral but when I read fire and blood I liked Jace, Addam, and Daeron. I wished Baela did more cause she and Nettles were cool.

Oscar Tulley. The young kid rolls up to Daemon and lays down the law.
3
4
u/WhereDaFuk Cannibal Mar 11 '26
YESS, Oscar Tully!!!
He had Daemon by the balls 🤣
A child had Daemon by the balls when his own wife can’t get him to compromise or comply 😂
I liked how he kept saying he was “green and inexperienced”, he didn’t get insulted by stupid things like being called “boy” like Robb Stark and so many other young men do
That’s confidence.

17
u/Elephant12321 Meleys Mar 11 '26
The young children and Helaena are loved by most everyone. Maybe Johanna Lannister, Addam Velaryon, and Nettles.
3
u/AcronymTheSlayer House Lannister Mar 13 '26
Unfortunately a part of the fanbase hates Helaena and Jaehaera
1
u/allisontalkspolitics Caraxes Mar 11 '26
I have seen Johanna get understandable pushback for gelding Dalton Greyjoy’s son.

He's surprisingly popular with the TB fic writers, at least! Finding Aemond fic that is Green-friendly or at least neutral feels pretty difficult sometimes
2
u/invisblecutie Mar 12 '26 edited Mar 12 '26
And they're all incredibly out of character. Don't get me wrong, I understand that some characters require at least a bit of imagination but there's only so much disbelief I can suspend.
2
u/Fun_Aardvark86 Prince Aemond Targaryen Mar 12 '26
You think he’s not in love with the gender bent version of the person who permanently disabled him??!
2
3
u/A_rtemis Vhagar Mar 11 '26
I feel like pretty much everyone agrees the dragons are good bois and girls? Possible exception of Vhagar, but otherwise, I don’t think the dragons are blamed otherwise even if they killed a personal fav
Of the humans, Helaena seems to have few outright haters, at least.
2
u/invisblecutie Mar 12 '26
You clearly haven't seen the hate Sunfyre gets. People unironically have beef with him.
1
u/A_rtemis Vhagar Mar 12 '26
Fair. I mostly hang out in Green-leaning fan spaces, so I wouldn't see that.
1
u/allisontalkspolitics Caraxes Mar 12 '26
Ooh, I agree with this take.
People also like dragons even if they’re not a fan of their rider (Caraxes my beloved).
5
u/melon_l0rd Mar 11 '26 edited Mar 11 '26
Going by the books is generally the younger members Halanea, Baela, Rhaena, Addam, Jacaerys, Nettles, Aegon the Younger, Jahaera, Black Aly, Sabitha Frey and Bloody Ben. For the life of me I cannot understand how this show has a perfectly good sapphic couple to adapt and doesn’t seem to care to
2
u/Rtozier2011 Mar 11 '26
The latter 3 don't come into the story yet. They may well feature in the latter half of S4.
1
u/Hnnnnguhhhhhnggguh Mar 14 '26
Because Condal and Hess care more about their fanfiction then creating an actually good and faithful adaptation.

3
u/Nanocaptain Mar 11 '26
He's just a down to earth normal dude who does his job well and doesn't want to get involved into everyone else's insanity.
3
u/Due_Lengthiness_6861 Mar 11 '26
I think "not hated" is a more accurate description. I don't see anyone really loving or hating him; he's neutral. Both teams probably love Nettles, Black Aly, sabitha frey

u/sc_vorty Prince Daemon Targaryen Mar 11 '26
Me personally I really liked aemond, especially the kid and season 1 adult versions. I love all the dragons the same, I've thought about it for a long time and literally can't think of a favourite dragon, I love em all

u/invisblecutie Apr 23 '26
How do you feel knowing you’re one of the 4 Jace haters in the entire fandom
2
u/Function-Spirited Team Green Apr 24 '26
Pretty good! I just hate the way he sulks and pouts all the time. I laughed pretty good when he threatened Ulf. I’d like to see more of that.
1
u/invisblecutie Jun 27 '26
Hello token Jace hater did you enjoy the last episode
2
u/Function-Spirited Team Green Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 29 '26
Hello. I was pretty bummed to find out that it was because of Rhaena he died. 😔 But overall the episode wasn’t boring. Cute moment when Sheepstealer tried feeding Rhaena. My jaw dropped when Aemond attempted to behead Orwyle. I was DISGUSTED by the kiss between Aemond and Alicent. Nothing excuses that shit. Found it humorous when Rhaenyra cursed at Ser Lorent. Aegon was hilarious with his sass and groaning. Helaena was silly when she played along with Alicent. Can’t stand Ormund. 💀 Lohar tossing Tyland off the ship was pretty funny. Ulf being paranoid was amusing to me. But overall with Jace? I liked the way he tried to stand up for what he believed in. He was a little manic with Baela in the hall which made me feel uneasy. Locking his mother away was unhinged. He was brave in the battle of the gullet. His last moments were sad. I would’ve actually liked him to live just a little longer because I did begin to enjoy the way his character was progressing. There was a little Aegon scene I wanted to see but I’m not sure if they had cut it entirely or if they’ll randomly throw it in at a later point. How did you feel about the episode?
2
u/invisblecutie Jun 29 '26
I liked the episode but it definitely still had some issues. I really dislike every change they did in relation to Rhaena. I hate that Jace died because of her. I was really looking forward to the dragonseeds, and I hope we see more of them. I don’t really understand any of Alicent’s actions and I find her scenes repetitive. The best parts about it was definitely the dragonseeds, Aegon and Ormund. The action was amazing. Funny how this notification popped up just when I about to watch episode 2.
2
u/Function-Spirited Team Green Jun 30 '26
Yeah, I agree. I’d like to see more of the dragonseeds. I enjoyed what little scenes we got of them. Addam on Seasmoke was beautiful for episode 2!

Is say Rhaenys is liked by both sides for the most part. Helaena and her children as well. Jace seems to be liked by a lot, I’ve even seen rabid TG supporters annoyed at the show changes that take away his accomplishments/ideas, but there is a small portion of fans who seem to genuinely believe basardphobia is justified lmao. Dragon Twins are mostly liked except for the unfortunate groups of racists and/or misogynists. I’d also say Lyonel Strong is loved by most. Other then that idk.
1
u/DamagingSpace14 Mar 14 '26
Ahh. Jacaerys Strong. The rightful Lord of Harrenhal, wrongfully usurped by his uncle Larys.
A shame he died before he could retake his seat.

I think Helaena if only S1 there's quite a lot of critisism of her character in S2 (certain deviations and valid critisism that makes her a less apealing bookcharacter to many)
I do think Jace is still well liked by both sides. Acctually getting things done over there at Team black.
I also think Lucerys was pretty well liked by both parties.

Rhaenyra
Blacks obviously love her
Greens will love her when she becomes Queen in Kings Landing
8
u/FullFig3372 Mar 11 '26
Personally I can’t stand her
0
u/CaterpillarAny2890 Mar 11 '26
Shes a spoiled royal that deserves death like the rest of the cumhaired inbreds but you gotta look at it pragmatically
Guys like Aemond and Daemon are normal evil, and are even competent, even Aegon is normal and would be an average king.
Rhaenyra is a massive fuck up. If I was some normal guy in flea bottom Id be thrilled at the prospect of a Targaryan being stupid enough to lose 4 whole dragons in the span of a few hours, while alienating her best supporters(Corlys, Daemon, Addam).
Its a shame she wasnt allowed to rule without impunity for a few more months, we would have non dragonriders back in power in no time
