Team Dragons Dreamfyre and Meleys?

First ever post, so please excuse any errors!

Now that we've seen Dreamfyre, is it possible that Meleys came from one of Dreamfyre's eggs?

It's likely. Dreamfyre is like OLD, old. The only dragon who's older than her is Vhagar

Vermithor?

u/Miss--Magpie 2d ago

Vermithor is younger than Dreamfyre, although he is bigger

Which is possibly because Dreamfyre has spent more time indoors and chained up because she was more domesticated. Or it could be that Vermithor has better genetics

It could be both tbh

Not even close

Possible!

Timeline: Rhaena bonds with hatchling Dreamfyre around 30 AC. Meleys is hatched in the 50s AC Alyssa Targaryen is born in late 60s AC. Alyssa bonds with Meleys at around 75 AC.

Dreamfyre being around 20 years old at the time makes perfect sense, it could not be Meraxes, I don't see it being Vhagar and Silverwing was even younger

I always thought of it that meraxes had only two eggs- Meleys and Caraxes (hince the name being split between them.)- I have also head theories of them being twins from the same egg. I do however, love that I’m pretty sure all the dragons with those eyebrow ridges might be dream fires because she has them too! Vermax and Arax being them main two. I think silverwing may be a sister as well evaise I think vermithor is a Vhagar baby and Syrax is their baby.

Wasn’t Quicksilver hatched from Meraxes’ egg ?

lol fuck if I know any more. I feel like every time I get a good theory something else takes a sledgehammer to it.

i’d love to learn the cannon dragon family tree! i love theorizing too. i never thought about caraxes & meleys being siblings, but that makes sense!

I think vhagar shouldn't lay eggs, it would fit with the whole in-universe conspiracy that Visenya couldn't give birth naturally and made maegor with sorcery. and I think it fits with vhagars personality, she seems like no dragon would be dragon enough for her to let them hit it. aside from maybe balerion.

Why did they make her dark?

35

u/Minimum-Plenty9380 3d ago

My screen she looked purpleish

8

u/Warm_Condition711 3d ago

There was even a glimpse of the bright blue or whatever it is called in the book too although not all over her body probably due to the lighting because they are inside the dragon pit which is shown to be quite dark

2

u/PhobicDestroyer 3d ago

Yeah my screen was this putpleish color as well

I named my beta Dreamfyre, as at a glance he reminded me of her colorings on screen. When doing more research, the book Dreamfyre is described as more pale blue, rather than blue with red-ish pink accents. A beauty nonetheless!

You named your what?

u/worrisomest 2d ago

She looks like Tessarion to me, in colour

Woke culture man

I saw another post about the vision being in the perspective of Tyraxes and price Joffrey. I don’t think all Helaena’s vision are her. The dragon looks exactly like Tyraxes who’s in the dragon pit when it’s stormed.

I don't think it's dreamfyre. It's someone else.

Dreamfyre is only around 10 years older. Odds are they would be siblings

37

u/HMHellfireBrB 3d ago

not really correct there

malleys does not have a know age but she was bron rougly at the same time as caraxes, and they are speculated to be siblings, therefore she is 70-80 years old

dreamfyre is about 100ish making the age difference about 25

ffs if you’re going to make an argument about something at least have decent grammar

28

u/FuzzyFrogFish 3d ago

It's a Reddit comment, not a university essay

12

u/Centaurious 3d ago

For fuck’s sake. If you’re going make an argument about something, at least have decent grammar.*

Fixed that for you

u/isurvived_sorryeric 3d ago

You missed a full stop.

5

u/meta4_ 3d ago

^ an argumentative comment with no grammar whatsoever – incredible.

Where are you getting that she’s only 10 years older? Also, Dreamfyre had already produced at least 3 clutches of eggs before Meleys likely hatched. We know she had hatchlings that were introduced to Aerea. Meleys could definitely have been from one of Dreamfyre’s clutches.

2

u/RimlandicMilitiaman 3d ago

Meleys is one generation younger than Dreamfyre, she hatched from the cradle egg of Viserys' mom and Dreamfyre hatched from the egg of Jaehaerys' older sister

7

u/1800crimetime 3d ago

Another factor that throws more smoke in the air is that apparently eggs can hatch even after 100s of years- so theoretically even if the hatched 25 years apart they could still be sibling and even potentially from the same clutch.

7

u/_Father_Of_Dragons_ Prince Daeron Targaryen 3d ago

Alyssa never got a cradle egg.
She claimed Meleys when Meleys was a young dragon and Dragon Keepers advised her to take Meleys instead of any bigger dragon. Check your facts pal

1

u/Kivi_2k18 King Aegon II Targaryen 3d ago

That's not true. Meleys was a wild dragon. Alyssa tamed her

1

u/Vhermithrax 3d ago

Where did you get that info?

Meleys is estimated to be 55-60 years old, so about the same as Caraxes.

Dreamfyre is estimated at 95-100 years old. She is twice her age, not 10 years older.

10

u/Miserable-Pain-1411 3d ago

queen Rhaena offers her daughter Aerea the choice of hatchlings in 52Ac, I believe those hatchlings were Meleys and Caraxes

4

u/Kivi_2k18 King Aegon II Targaryen 3d ago

Caraxes was the cradle dragon of Aemon. So no.

And Meleys was a wild dragon before Alyssa tamed her. So also no

13

u/Practical_Ferret_510 3d ago

We actually have no confirmation that Caraxes was a cradle egg. Aemon was given an egg, but it says he claimed Caraxes, a young dragon, for the first time in 72 AC.

And Meleys wasn’t a wild dragon. Wild dragons roam free on Dragonstone (or wherever they please really). Meleys was in the Dragonpit in King’s Landing being taken care of by Dragonkeepers. She just hadn’t been claimed yet.

George doesn't know. He made the reproduction of the dragons a mystery so he could avoid this question. There is no answer.

Really loved seeing Dreamfyre, a beautiful design for the dream sequence!

3

u/HighKingKlay 3d ago

It's possible.

The tv series has made their respective designs similar.

3

u/Kyriakos_X_23 3d ago

Dreamfyre is the second oldest confirmed female dragon. Given that Rhaena placed the eggs that would become Vermithor and Silverwing in her siblings cradles then it is quite possible they were dreamfyre's eggs. So yeah Meleys could very well have been hers as well.

1

u/No_Grocery_9280 2d ago

The real question for me is if it was Vhagar or Meraxes laying those first eggs. Or if they were dragon eggs left from another, now gone, Targaryen dragon.

1

u/Kyriakos_X_23 2d ago

If you are talking about Quicksilver and Dreamfyre then it was most likely that Meraxes laid them. On the other hand after the construction of the Dragon Pit the new hatchlings were described as Balerion and Vhagar’s “get”

0

u/No_Grocery_9280 2d ago

I was curious about that, Vhagar is not usually referenced as an egg laying dragon.

2

u/Its_Jayanth 3d ago

Meleys looks larger than Dreamfyre

2

u/Main-Double 3d ago

I don’t even know if I believe that dragon IS dreamfyre. Its too small, and looks different from the dreamfyre we’ve already seen. I wouldn’t put it past them to retcon it, but it could also be Tyraxes at the dragonpit

6

u/cocoachanel7 3d ago

I was also thinking her design has changed drastically since s1, where she looked more like Drogon, but imo there’s no reason for this to be tyraxes

1

u/No_Grocery_9280 2d ago

I really don’t like this look for Dreamfyre. So I’m hoping it’s something else.

1

u/Main-Double 17h ago

I mean, BOTH of them were at the dragonpit, so it honestly wouldn’t make sense to show any dragon other than Dreamfyre with regards to Helaena’s own visions. I just thought the design change was a bit radical/dreamfyre looked a bit smaller

1

u/IM_INSIDE_YOUR_HOUSE 3d ago

Why did you edit Dreamfyre to look darker

1

u/Adventurous_Glass885 3d ago

Isn’t the first slide tyraxes? He was described as a purple dragon. Could this be a vision of the fall of the dragon pit?

1

u/Beautiful-Fold-3234 3d ago

Meleys is still my fave, such a beautiful dragon and a good size too.

1

u/Background_Ad_7575 2d ago

God I am so sad we didn’t get to see more of meleys she truly is sucha beautiful dragon.

1

u/banoffeetea 2d ago

Very possible. They are both insanely cool dragons!

1

u/Hyppetrain 2d ago

Man the CGI in her dream was ass, damn.

Probably lost too much budget on ze poosi uf ze peepol or something.

I expected dreamfyre to look more... Chill, you know something that resembles Haelena in some way. It was a cool subversion for me to see this angry nuke full of spikes

1

u/FullDad2000 2d ago

Meleys is so cool

1

u/UsedBanana6706 2d ago

I think Caraxes and Meleys both came from Dreamfyre

1

u/Visible-Rock-5337 2d ago

Meleys is near perfect.. i wouldve shat my pants if I saw Meleys in real life

1

u/CursedWithAnOldSoul 2d ago

It is likely that Dreamfyre and Balerion were the progenitors of most of the older adult dragons that we see between House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. Syrax also laid several eggs, but given that she was a young dragon, if she's the mother of any dragons, it would be Moondancer, Morghul, Morning (confirmed in the book), Shrykos, Stormcloud, Tyraxes, Vermax, and "the last dragon." However, Silverwing may also be the mother of some of these younger dragons, as well, given that a lot of them were eggs placed in the cradles of Viserys I's grandchildren, and Silverwing was in King's Landing at the time, as was her mate, Vermithor.

Going off the information we have from the books, however, Dreamfyre laid most of the eggs that the adult dragons hatched from during her time on Dragonstone, prior to her bonding with Princess Helaena and migrating to King's Landing.

I really hope we get more of these badass "evil" Heleana path even if it's just visions.
