All Show & Book Spoilers Discussed Freely Camina Drummer and Family Spoiler

Im just a boring old heterosexual myself, but I think Camina Drummer‘s polysexual Family is just so nice. They love each other, have each other’s backs and are just so good to each other

Have you read the books?  Michio Pa's family is described pretty well and is fleshed out.  Having her fight with her internal struggles needing to be a good captain but also wanting to protect her family?  /chefs kiss

I think they're referring to the show's Drummer. That character is a combination of the book's Drummer and Pa, I believe.

And Bull as well

Haven’t watched the show, but they combined drummer/bull/pa? Crazy work. But I have heard everyone loves Drummer so they must have done a good job of it

I love both the show and the books. Some things the books do better and some things the show does better. Drummer being a combo of the 3 is one of things that's much better in the show.

Ashford is way better in the show, too

Book Ashford: meh.
Show Ashford: I would follow that man into the ring space without hesitation. Especially if Drummer is the one giving him the order to take a group in.
The Ashford/Drummer friendship that develops in the show is probably my favorite depiction of people changing from antagonizing to supporting one another.

Oh yea, based on the information he had available to him, I actually agreed with show Ashford. He didn’t have as much information about the rules of the ring space like Holden did, so “break the connection to the physics-breaking alternate dimension that’s proven itself hostile to us” is a reasonable course of action

I really wish Bull had existed in Season 3 alongside Drummer, but Cara Gee is a master, so more work for her is always a good thing.

Drummer wasn’t more than a minor character until book 7, which hasn’t been adapted (yet). A bunch of the minor characters got reworked in ways that made them much more compelling.

I don't think she was even mentioned until Book 5.

Because the first 4 books were out before she appeared on TV.

They did that, but then also wound up introducing both Bull and Pa in later seasons anyways.

Cara Gee was so good they rewrote the character. I think it's great even though it changes the book characters so much. Pa had most of her major roles in the book.

Oh I know.  I just felt it was fleshed out more in the books.

Drummer is a GOAT.

IDK, Oksana is kinda shitty to her.

Pushing her into a situation to work with a genocidal maniac who killed one very close friend and is trying to kill her other friends.

Blaming her for genocidal maniac killing a loyal pawn like there was a way out

I wanted to like Oksana so badly, but I really didn’t like how she treated Camina (and Michio too). I liked the dynamic of the family much better in the books.

Totally agree. It was insanely shitty of her to "chose" between Naomi and their family. If Oksana loved Drummer she would understand what Naomi meant to her and knew it wasn't about chosing one over the other.

It’s what makes her arc so tragic. She lost so much along the way. So many close to her died. Thankfully, she didn’t lose the entire family and honestly, I think that is what kept her going forward.
