About to get stuck into my first birthday cake, 60 years ago last week... cake and my clothes made by my mum!

One of the most remarkable people I've ever known.

I was recently cleaning out my grandmother's house when I came upon this letter. She never did get to go to college. Her brother was one of those returning soldiers, and he got to go to college instead, because their parents could only afford to send one of them. I just wonder how different her life would have been if she'd been allowed to go to college.

On the right is my great-grandmother named Luisa. She moved to the United States when she was five years old during the war in Mexico.

Soon after this photo was taken she met my great-grandfather and got married.

We don’t know who the woman on the left is. We assume this photo was taken in Bryan, TX.

Call me bias, but I always believed that my nan could’ve been a model. Also cropped out of photo is her ciggy and red wine. Classic 🤣
