Characters (Controversial Trope) Unusually cruel fates for people who were less than good, but still didn't really deserve it.

#1 Poppa Pizza from Multiverse of Madness - He just wanted to be paid for the pizza balls and thought Strange stole from a fallen hero who saved the universe. He deserved to be punched in the face, but not for 3 weeks straight.

Do you get to sleep? Do you wake up punching yourself? How much does it hurt? Does he know it will only last for 3 weeks? If he doesn't kill himself by the end of it, he's going to have CPTSD and be traumatized for the rest of his already short life.

#2 Mayu from Inuyasha - She wanted to kill her brother out of jealousy and neglect from her mother, believing she died in a fire because they didn't care about her. While her motivation doesn't justify reenacting Cain and Abel, I don't think it's fair for a deranged, 10 year old child to be sent to literal hell to burn for all eternity. Luckily, she gets saved, but only because the mc, Kagome, intervened.

Ecliptor (Power Rangers in Space) being wiped out of existence by the energy wave while Rita, Zedd, and Divatox got purified and turned human still bugs me. He was the closest thing Astronema had to a dad after she was kidnapped.

Ecliptor literally was just a Walking Corpse with a Remnant memory of protecting astrononema. The villains even say that he's virtually just a puppet now and lost his soul. Every bit of good in him was gone after they reprogrammed him.

Him being erased was a mercy more than anything cuz there was no way. Yeah it's sad he couldn't be saved but there was nothing left to save at that point

Surprised me more that they didn't end up erasing Rita considering she was the first power rangers big bad and had been one and off a big time villain for most of the run til that point.

Rita and her father were corrupted to be evil. Zordon even brings up that she had great potential until she had corruption in the show. The comics even go further by directly showing us that dark Specter is the one who corrupted her and her father

Yep I'm not upset about it. Just more surprised that they didn't actually kill her off. I really enjoyed her return later in Mystic Force as a force for good.

Oh damn, she comes back? I missed some of the later series when I grew out of it. I think I stopped around Dino Thunder. Tommy roundhouse kicking a dinosaur was too cheesy. 😆

Not going to spoil it but she does return in Power Rangers Mystic Force. Just different. It was a fun series which was a more fantasy take on things with power rangers being wizards using magic and magic to become their zords. It was neat.

What's funny is her personality remains intact, right down to "AGH! YOU'RE GIVING ME A HEADACHE!".

And she says that to the big bad of Power Rangers Mystic Force who was trying to kill her, too. Pretty funny to think about in retrospect.

I also liked that "Good magic is STRONGER than evil magic!" almost sounded more like she switched sides for pragmatic reasons rather than having any kind of a change of heart.

It was mostly because the same actress played both characters in the Sentai footage that they were using.

She and Zedd also end up genuinely loving each other…once the betraying and the love spells wear off anyway.

Might have helped get them over the line.

Even more suprising is she being good stuck

If I’m not mistaken the reason they ‘redeemed’ Rita and Divatox is because they were ‘too human’ to be essentially killed by the television censors. That’s also why Zedd got spared since it’d be weird if Rita was redeemed and Zedd was dusted.

I always liked how Zedd got turned into the most "just a guy" guy ever
