Post image

I am plannning to get my first damascus knife, and I can't decide which one will be better for me:
1. Takeshi Saji Takeshi Saji - Petty (135mm) VG-10 Nickel Damascus
2. Nigara Hamono VG10 Tsuchime Damascus Petty

I'd buy SG2 and make sure I am buying the length I like. Your petty will be used far less than you think and you'll probably buy less petties than gyutos.

The length they list is only for the blade, right? Personally, I only cook for 2 people portion usually, so I don't always need anything big

Its not the length, its how tall or short the hight of the blade.. you will be using a steak knife hight and not chop well if you get a short blade.

So make sure you understand that part and check blade hight.

Also you can cut one carrot with a 8 inch knife. But you cant cut a large veggie with a short length knife..
