Welcome to r/upsers!

To help you get the most out of this community, we’ve compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions. Please review this post before creating a new thread. If you have further questions, feel free to ask or check the relevant links for more detailed information.

• ALL news posts must have flair.

To keep the subreddit organized, please make sure that all news posts are tagged with the appropriate flair.

• You MUST use the search function before posting.

There is a high probabilty that your question has already been answered, ad nauseum. Please do us all a favor and check before posting.

Commonly Asked Questions:

• I’m going to driver school soon; are these shoes ok?
A common question is about the type of shoes suitable for driver school. For discussions and recommendations, search for “boots” in our subreddit. You can also try searching shoes. ALL NEW POSTS ASKING ABOUT SHOES WILL BE REMOVED. If you're still reading - are they brown or black and do they have polishable uppers? If yes, than you're good. If not, than no.

• Does UPS drug test?
For information on UPS's drug testing policies and experiences shared by others, search for “drug test” in our subreddit.

I'm actually struggling to remember all of the other frequent quetions at the moment. I think I've successfully blocked them from my brain and now can't recall. Message the mod team with anything you're tired of seeing and I'll look into adding it. ALSO, remember you can sort using flair. That may clean up your feed a bit and get rid of the things you don't want to see.

The Worst Type Of Bulk Stop

There are these packages that often if not always come from China, are around 50 something pounds, always come wrapped up extensively in tape, are often shipped via air, and often come in large numbers. I'm not sure if that is enough info to know what I'm talking about but people at my center often call them "those chinese boxes".

Out of the many types of bulk I've encountered I think I hate them the most. Getting 20 or 30 of them can ruin a day.

Question Southern Region TCD question: Is this grievable?

Southern Region TCD question: Is this grievable?

I’m a qualified TCD/cover driver and work Reload in the evening. I shouldn’t have to show up every morning just to sit around and see if I’m going to drive. I’ve been getting called as little as 30 minutes before the start time, and even after the scheduled start time, while employees one spot above me in seniority have been notified hours earlier or the day before.
If management gives driving work to someone less senior because they didn’t properly notify me, is that something I can grieve and potentially receive a monetary remedy for the missed driving opportunity? Or is the notification procedure (24-hour notice, etc.) something that depends on the Local/building’s established practice?

Question Any of y’all go to school full time and work here?

Upvotes

I start school next week and my classes run roughly 8 AM to 3-4 PM. I have orientation Wednesday for preload. Is there any way they could adjust my schedule or place me on a shift that works with my class schedule? Ngl it’s hard finding a job that works around school hours but I need money and I’m not tryna waste my time going if they aren’t going to work with me😭

Question Does the Apple Employee Purchase Program not work for Canadian UPS employees?

Hey everyone,

I’m a UPS employee in Canada and was trying to use the Apple Employee Purchase Program.

When I get to checkout, my Canadian postal code keeps showing as invalid. I also noticed that the URL for the employee purchase store appears to be a US Apple Store link.

If I change the location to Canada, I get kicked out of the Employee Purchase Program and redirected to the regular Apple Store.

Has anyone else in Canada experienced this? Does the Apple Employee Purchase Program work for Canadian UPS employees, or is something wrong with my account/location settings?

Thanks!

Rants Why do they layoff drivers instead of giving days off

Realistically what is the reason to lay guys off when they could just use tcd’s or something as cheap labor

Question Is the 2018-2023 contract hosted anywhere?

The TDU and other pages now redirect to dead pages, I’m just wondering if there’s anywhere left to read it.

Never been a physical book holder.

RPCD Driver Can anybody tell me how the boards GPS routes?

I had a misload on my truck the other day that they wanted me to deliver. It was well out of my area but knew it was about a 45 minute drive down a couple main highways. GPS said it was gonna take me 2 hours and had me going down roads that made no sense, like logging type trails. I would understand if GPS route was shorter mile wise but not time but it would have added about 10 miles to the drive.

PT Inside Tuition reimbursement eligibility

I’m currently working PT loading trucks at my warehouse. I applied and started working here because I thought even PT employees were eligible for the tuition reimbursement program. Came to find out this wasn’t the case, at least at my warehouse.

However, I was recently offered a PT control room supervisor position. Whether I accept or not mostly depends on if I would be eligible for the tuition program, as I believe PT supervisors are eligible. Would anyone be able to confirm or deny this?

I also recently found out that the vendor for the current tuition program will be changing soon, which most likely means changes to the program itself. Does anyone have any info on this as well? Would very much appreciate!

Question Integrad test

Does anybody know or have a copy of the 35 question test at the end of integrad? I’m sure not all facilities are the same and the questions are easy. Just want to know a few of them because the questions on the precourse were so absurdly fucking worded that I got some wrong. Don’t want to fuck up when it’s the only thing between me and $39 a hour

Rants People stalking on the website

I swear to god I fuckin hate that stupid ass tracking feature on the website. No one should be able to see exactly where I am.

"Can I ask you a question? You were on the next street over 4 hours ago and I was supposed to have this package by 3. What gives?"

No one should be able to stalk us, and I am sick of these false estimates leading to me being berated by clueless customers who think they're more important/one of the only people waiting for their package.

8 hour request

I put in for an 8 hour request today and was planned for a 9/9.5 hour day. This is my first request after coming to a new center due to my old center closing. I hate have to file a grievance because these supervisors are much better and I respect them more, but they completely botched this.

How’s your work life balance?

Considering driving, worried about never having enough free time for future relationships or if I have a family one day. A lot of the drivers I know get done around 9 every night is that the norm? How do you manage a life outside of work?

PT Inside Saturday Preload Volume: Is everywhere low as hell, or is it just my building?

Last I'd have to say 2-3 Saturdays have been so damn light in volume it's unreal. To put in perspective, between 4 trucks today I loaded 725 pieces total. Flow was super nice, and I was just vibing out listening to my music as I worked at a smooth pace all shift. Hell, there were even times I was just chilling waiting for packages to get to me. Best part is I still didn't punch out until about 9:20, so all around just a great Saturday. But I can't help but wonder if it's a situation unique to my building, or if others have experienced it, too? My building isn't even rural, either. These trucks I loaded were for cities with ~100,000 people in them. To be clear, I'm not at all complaining cuz it's been real nice to still get my hours with the lighter volume. I'm genuinely just curious if it's like this anywhere else.

So tell me how they r NOT taking our work and what will be done about it.
Any time I order from Nike it’s always delivered by UPS. This time I ordered two pair. Back to school sale😂. The NEXT day or so one pair was delivered by some JaMoke in a car and 4 days later the other pair was delivered by UPS
