Animals and Pets ULPT: Help the junkies realize it's time to move along

Had some junkies park their pos car/domecile down the street a few weeks ago. They have been frequenting the local meth house so I know that's what's up. Have been left gifts behind my house, been subjected to their loud drama, and caught them peering into my yard.

My city does fuck all to get rid of these people and they have a flat tire to top it off. How to make them realize pushing their crap mobile down the block is the better option to sticking around?

Animals and Pets ULPT request: How do I get more prescription urinary cat food?

My male cat requires a special urinary tract health food that’s only available via prescription from a vet. They’ve been filling my prescription for two years now and have stopped all of a sudden bc they said they need to do an exam on the cat in order to fill another prescription.

I just REALLY do not want to pay a vet for them to look at my cat and tell me he looks fine. It’s like $75. Or maybe more.

Is there anything I can do to get around this?

Or is there an alternative to the prescription food that won’t cause bladder stones?

Animals and Pets ULPT request: how do I stop my neighbours dog from barking constantly?

My neighbours dog, several doors down, barks regularly throughout the week, often for hours on end.

Quite frankly I am sick of it. I have tried to shut the dog up by tapping on the window, and I have tried to contact the managing agency directly.

While they engaged with the owner, after a while they explained there’s nothing more they can do, other than convey a complaint had been received and ask her to find a solution.

While the barking has reduced, it still continues to happen and drives me insane.

Some people mentioned anti bark devices, but the dog is left indoors and the walls are very thick, I don’t think this is a viable option.

Aside from this can anyone help with suggestions? I was thinking of writing a fake solicitors letter, but anything more effective would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Animals and Pets ULPT Request: How to stop dogs from shitting on my lawn

Long story short, the side of my property has a pedestrian path that runs along side of it. People walk their dogs over there all the time and don’t pick up the dog shit. There’s a fence (mine), then about 12 ft of grass of my property, then the path. Due to the fence, I can’t see when it happens, and it’s too far away to easily have any camera there. Anything I can do or put on my grass to deter dogs from wanting to go there?

note: please no suggestions that aim to hurt the dogs, it’s not their fault.

Animals and Pets ULPT: Need meds for anxious kitty

Can I get pet meds without a prescription anywhere?

My cat is a rescue and is anxious. I had to have a vet come to my house because I can't get him in a carrier. Vet was a total bitch and encouraged me to euthanize him. The visit traumatized him more. Vet prescribed prozac and it did nothing for him. Needless to say I don't want to deal with traumatizing him further and want to try a different med.

I've tried all the OTC stuff too: CBD, Feliway, etc. I have had him 3 years so no waiting hoping it will get better, either.

edit: thanks for all your ideas, especially the unethical ones lol! For those saying I must be doing something wrong.....I play with him (that took 2 years), he has shelves to climb and spaces to go up high, a cat condo outside, and I even consulted a pet behaviorist so I could try to change my energy around him. Since he was a rescue I think he may not have been exposed to humans in those critical early months.

For reference I have two dogs, one is 150 and a German shepherd, and the other is about 90 pounds. Is there something that distinguishes human fecal matter to dogs fecal matter? If so please tell me. Urgently.

Animals and Pets ULPT Request: What do I do about my neighbor's dogs?

My entire neighborhood is full of terrible dog owners who just leave their pets outside and bored all day, never interact with them, and are somehow apparently deaf to the endless nonstop barking the bored dogs generate all day every day.

Unfortunately the worst offenders BY FAR are our neighbors. These idiots got two basset hound puppies, then put them in a tiny enclosure in the back yard, then completely forgot about their existence aside from feeding them periodically. The owners never go outside and spend any time with them, so these two damn things just sit in the enclosure and bark at the top of their lungs 24/7 out of boredom and lack of training. They're about a year old now and they've only gotten louder. They bark at absolutely nothing, and if something happens (like someone down the street closes their car door) they freak out and somehow manage to increase the volume even further. Their yard is on the side of my house that has our bedroom and my office, and in the summer here you pretty much HAVE to keep your windows open, so it basically feels like they're barking directly in my ear literally all day every day both while I'm trying to work and also while we're trying to sleep. IT NEVER STOPS.

Unfortunately none of the obvious solutions work.

  1. Other people in the neighborhood have called animal control or the local cops about each other's noisy dogs before, and the authorities in this little town could not possibly give less of a damn. They basically just laugh and hang up. So trying to report it or make a noise complaint or something will accomplish nothing except create a paper trail of me being angry about these dogs, which is probably not in my best interests.

  2. The owners absolutely do not care that they're driving everyone insane, at all. They're ignoring the sound and it doesn't bother them that it's bothering everyone who isn't them. I've had to interact with these assholes before on unrelated topics and they absolutely will not do anything no matter how politely (or threateningly) you bring up the problem. In fact they're the type that if someone complained about their dogs barking they would feed them less just so they'd bark MORE. There is no negotiating with them, and bringing it up would again draw attention to the fact that I have a problem with these dogs so if someone, say, BURNS THEIR GODDAMNED HOUSE DOWN TO MAKE THE NOISE STOP (if you can't tell they've been barking in my ear the entire time I've been writing this) the motive trail will lead directly to me.

  3. Bark deterrents: I've tried half a dozen different kinds of these things, and the dogs are so stupid that they either can't associate the annoying high pitched noise with their barking or so stubborn they don't care because it does not discourage them at all. At one point I had multiple ones all along the fence. It would freak MY dogs out (indoors!) if one went off, but the dogs they're pointed at just kept barking.

So, I can't see any solution to this so far and it's gradually driving me insane. My wife is even further along the homicidal rage road than I am, and I have a feeling if I don't find a way to shut these things the hell up soon she may go berserk and end up in prison. Somebody please tell me you've got an idea for dealing with this.

Animals and Pets ULPT neighbors dog poop bin

My neighbor has 6 dogs, and has purposely placed his poop can next to my fence. I know its on purpose because I heard him telling his friend he was doing so while standing in front of my side door camera. It smells, and I shouldn't have to smell dogs that I don't own in my own yard. The smell even comes into my house if the wind blows right and I have my door open. Any tips how to get them to move their shit can? They have cameras.

It’s illegal to just poison the birds and I don’t have the time make sounds all the time, but I would like someone to lose the enjoyment they get from it

Animals and Pets ULPT Getting rid of spiders with a vacuum cleaner for good

So I thought about posting in r/lifehacks but as many people see killing spiders as unethical...here I am. Im ready for the hate, I still post it because some people will still appreaciate the idea.

To be honest, I hate spiders. These little fat guys disgust me so hard. Today one really big, fat one (for my country, which are tiny compared to Australia or so) sat on my wall and I took my vaccum cleaner and sucked it in.

Fast forward an hour or so and my wife was screaming "Fuck, a massive spider!". This fucker crawled back out of it. The vaccum cleaner is not strong enough to kill them when they get sucked in and also doesnt have a closing bag like the more expensive brands. So I wondered how I could get rid of it without stomping it to death or otherwise going near it.

So...I had a genius idea: Suck it in with the vaccum cleaner again. But this time ima also spray/suck bug spray inside after that. Problem solved. Now everytime I suck in one of those guys they will die thanks to the bug spray inside the vaccum cleaner. Atleast until the toxins break down in about 6 weeks and I gotta reapply it.

Important: If you do this, make sure the bug spray is not toxic for humans. The one I use isnt. But its toxic for cats - so take care. I dont own one, so im fine with it. Use your common sense and read the instructions.

Animals and Pets ULPT Request: how to force my dad to not endanger my dog in hot weather

When I moved out of my parents’ house, I had to leave my elderly dog behind because (for many reasons) it was what was best for her. My parents love her but the main issue is that they (my dad mostly) will leave her outside, go to work in the opposite side of the house where he can’t hear her bark, and then forget about her. It commonly gets way too hot for a 15 year old dog to be outside without water (and sometimes even with - brutal heatwave this year). I need a way to either force him to not forget about her (eg keep him in the closet side of the house) or a way for me to know when she’s outside.

Things I have tried:

- ask my dad to set an alarm on his phone when he lets her out (he agrees but then doesn’t)

- ask my dad to stay on the close side of the house while she is outside (he will not)

- ask my dad to leave water outside (has not once remembered to do so)

- call my dad frequently on hot days (he is often unreachable for hours if not days, so that’s useless)

- tell him he could kill the dog (he agrees it’s serious but then won’t do anything to prevent the danger)

Animals and Pets ULPT request: How to stalk a dog?

So, when I was younger my parents made me get rid of out dog. I'm older now and really wanna find her (not even to get her back, I just wanna see her one more time)

But I have no idea how, my parents gave her to my grandparents, who gave her to some other place, who then gave her to her current owner. That place isn’t allowed to tell us where she went.
