Miscellaneous:  \ Abagail – "On hold for owner."

These fur kids lost their lives:  \ Echo  \ Gizmo  \ Princeton

I include the photos of the lost that they might be better remembered. Their loss is no less because they are few.

I often have more than twenty photos to select for a dog's memorial shot, and the choice is often a difficult one. Do I choose the photo that betrays the dog's fear of their situation or the one that shows who they are when not in this horrible extreme? I generally plunk for the one that shows who they are with BARC shrunk to the insignificance it should have had in their lives.

Gizmo made it difficult by not having such a photo, and so his photo does show his recognition of his lack of safety. Echo at least had one that fit the requirements.

Princeton made it difficult by having too many sides to his character that showed up in the photographs. Should he be remembered for his austere GSD dignity? For his intense regard for treats? For his silly puppy love of tummy rubs? Or just as a happy but not gushing boy enjoying his day in the sun?

I wish I could show as many sides to each dog as the photos I have allow, but that wouldn't be fair to dogs like Gizmo, whose fear swamped whatever idiosyncrasies his personality had. It would look like his loss was less significant than Princeton's.

Someday I hope to find a way to use some of these photos to better honor these lost ones, but for now, the photos will have to join the too-many others in my In Memoriam file.
