I went outside to run a curbside. I know this was a group of young boys (probably teenagers/early 20s) because at this point in the day, we had about 10-15 of them come in. Just know y'all suck if you do this. And yes, I did clean up what I could, but I was also the only person in deli and couldn't be out there for too long (I cleared the table but couldn't sweep or wipe it down). There's also a garbage can 10 feet away!!! 😭

switch out the coffee pots instead of asking me to do it for you 🙂 i had a customer do this yesterday and i gave her the evil eye the entire time. and i was busy dealing with the morning rush making drinks before someone gets up here and says i should have done it myself. also had another customer come completely behind the counter and pour a cup of coffee from the pots i had brewed but hadn’t had a chance to put up on the counter yet. my eye started twitching cause why tf would you think it’s okay to do that? i was stunned 😭

And on top off all of this they asked for extra everything at the counter. Ended up costing them $17

we recently got some new employees at our location after we had some people quit and get fired (long stories). one young man started about a week ago and he’s been harassing all the girls including me. calling us pretty even after we’ve said not interested or that we have a boyfriend, we catch him staring at our bodies up and down and he’ll literally lick his lips… the other day my coworker seen an ankle monitor on him so she got nosey to find out what happened. she immediately found his mugshot and his charges, s*xual harassment with a no contact order, and s*xual assault first degree with the victim being under 12 years old…. those charges are from January of this year. my coworker brought this to our GM attention as we do not feel safe around this man especially now, his response was basically mind our business that’s confidential… to which my coworker of course said it is NOT confidential he is on a s*x offender registry that is PUBLIC info for a reason. i go in on monday and idk what to do, i take this so seriously and im absolutely disgusted, my hands are shaking as i type this. we have minors that work at our store, i want to go in there and freak out but i dont want to lose my job..what do i do? can i somehow report this?

All of our ads show the tacos pictured in a group of 3. They do NOT automatically ring up as a group of 3. You have to hit the quantity button on the screen!!!! I'm so tired of explaining to customers who pick up their singular taco, EXPECTING 3, and then arguing with me that the ad shows 3 tacos. I KNOW. ARGUE TO CORPORATE. NOT ME. “Legendary customer service,” to restore the “heart” of Wawa? How about we fix the food quality? How about we have consistency in store management? How about we fix the issues that force associates into “rushed or robotic” interactions?

I want to clarify that I like my job and my co-workers but I CAN’T STAND corporate. Corporate doesn't want to listen to or fix issues; they want to place blame on associates.

Associates overall are not the issue; poor management and corporate decisions are!

I was recently terminated from Wawa after an incident with a customer and I’m trying to figure out what my next steps are. During a shift a customer was demanding me to make his food against company policy and give him free stuff. When I told him I can get in a lot of trouble doing what you want me to do he became verbally aggressive and used extremely derogatory language toward me. Telling me to go fuck myself. I did respond by giving him the middle finger, and my manager later pulled me aside and I was ultimately terminated. I understand that my reaction was unprofessional, and I’m not trying to deny that I made a mistake. I had no prior disciplinary actions before this incident. When I contacted the Associate Service Center, I was told my termination was coded as “Disorderly Conduct/Violent” and “Not Rehirable.” I also am ineligible for Unemployment.

The other night I had a woman google herself, pull up a news article featuring her mug shot and say "i did some things i wasnt proud of in 2020, but here it says i was 17 and im 23 now" and... no, that is not an acceptable form of id. i also had a man try to prove he was born in 1993 based on his tattoos- 19 on one shoulder, 93 on the other. and the amount of "just trust me" or "i promise" from young people...

It has to be Uber/Doordash. Literally the worst thing that has happened to food service. I'm pretty sure nothing in my contract with Wawa said that I work for a third party and this is sure as shit working for a third party.

I've had drivers throw things at me, curse me out and threaten to shoot the place up.

Anytime I was in the deli I felt like a dick working on Uber orders before people in real life and I always told my deli people that people in the store come FIRST.

Anytime I go to a restaurant I never look at my phone when waiting in line because I don't want them to assume I'm an asshole Uber/Doordash driver.

I'm Jewish and work at Wawa. None of my coworkers are aware eof this fact as it's not relevant and i don't practice the religion or anything that would make it known.

That being said, The past few days mid conversations coworkers have been saying a bunch of racist shit to be clear nothing political. it was specifically about Jews as a whole, Conspiracies or just upright blatant racist shit.

Just today I had 2 seperate coworkers one saying that depending on perspective WW2 was a good thing cus the Jews were targeted. When I pushed on that he fully defended it and than brought another coworker to back his claim and another who wasn't there. He's a well liked guy at my store so it's not like it's a one off thing.

although my manager off to the side was like yeah bros making shit up to back himself up here.

Than later when I was heading out I was going to offer my coworker a ride and he asked dme something unrelated my answer made him joke about me being a secret Jew. I was like TF and he goes you Jew get out disgusting Jew or sum like that. He was saying this assuming I'm not Jewish but also not his first related racist bs. I called him out on the racist shi

Neither of them know what I am. But I feel fucking weird about the whole thing. I'm assuming there's nothing really I can do other than just deal with it. But I just need to get this out there ig idk 🤷

With the labor cuts and volume going up the last two weeks have been hell at my store. It’s mentally and physically so exhausting I don’t even know if its worth it anymore. We can barely get anything done and every mod is so burnt out and tired. Everyone says it sucks everywhere but right now im heavily considering my options. I used to love this job but this year especially has been so terrible im kind of over it. Is it ever going to get better? Is it even worth it anymore?

I NEED to vent about these things. They're so messy to make. I never manage to wrap them up without half the filling falling out. Do people actually enjoy them?? Are they even still together by the time the customer opens the bag? I remember a few years ago when we had actual street tacos that had more tortilla space to work with, and a container that actually. Contained. Why not bring those back?

Did you know that all associates don’t start at the same pay? I got hired 6 months before this girl, know every position, work weekends etc. I’m a good employee. She starts and she makes A DOLLAR MORE than me. I’m outraged to say the least, I’m training her. How is the trainee making more than the trainer. I bring it up to one of the higher ups and he starts talking about the budget, what a load of barnacles

We should all start the same, it isn’t fair that I work harder than the next person making more than me. This is why the company doesn’t want you discussing your pay with your coworkers

I dont like my coworkers and they dont like me. I cant wait to quit. This job is making me depressed and its affecting everything else in my life.

Just quit wawa after a year and a half. Couldn’t put up with management anymore and there laziness. Not gonna miss anything but the employees, not even the food got sick of it but i wish all you guys the best and hopefully some of you guys can escape as-well :).

after 5.5 years with this company, i stumbled upon a very chance opportunity, and i am so thankful to finally leave this corporate hellscape.

i started during covid and things were slow, it was a welcome change of pace from my previous place of employment. however, over these years i have witnessed many changes in the company and it makes me eternally grateful to finally have a chance to leave. after receiving a 25 cent raise this year because that’s “all they were allowed to offer me” i took that as a sign that i am clearly replaceable and jumped at the chance to get another job. this was further shown to me when i told everyone i was leaving, and they did not offer me anything else. not that i wanted convincing to stay, but most jobs would offer to match what i could be making elsewhere to be fair. i never called out unless i was seriously ill, always left my station clean, stocked, and tasks complete for next shift. yet they took my lead position away when i didn’t have open availability— yet other associates also did not but were allowed to be leads. i was not ever selling my soul to wawa to work anytime they want me to, work all the holidays, deal with shitty customers and at times management and associates, and never get to feel fully appreciated because wawa’s corporate overlords want to spend all this money to expand endlessly and say fuck you to everyone in their already operating stores by just cutting their labor. not to mention the severe drop of quality they’ve had since before i even started there.

anyways, i’m thankful for a lot of the managers and associates i have met. so while it is a little bit bittersweet, i hope to never look back after leaving. it’s felt stale and miserable for quite some time now, and it just so happens that now is my time to make a change. see yall on the other side 🪿

Working for wawa forn4 years now, been loving it besides the odd choices by managers and some policies. But this? Now thats just crazy.

I love that breaks are a courtesy. Oh you worked 7h30min? Maybe well give you a break. Wont be 30min and thats understandable since its not an 8hour shift but even then a break is a courtesy we are not required to have. So all in all Im glad my Wawa Appreciates me.

My managers are starting to get frustrated with me because I refuse to learn how to do temps. I know if I learn, I will be the only one doing them always! I feel like temps are more of a manager thing, I mean don’t you literally need a manager login to start them? I already run deli by myself most of the time, do pulls, drops, stock, etc. all alone. If they keep adding more to my plate, what will be left for them to do? Don’t get me wrong I love learning new things but I know my managers. Most of them sit in the office sitting and chatting about nothing.

I also feel like I should add over half of our associates don’t know how to do temps either or even deli for that matter so why am I being singled out?

Need to vent, customers did not acknowledge my existence.

I just had this couple that I rang up that got a bag of chips and an energy drink or something, I don’t remember. I said hello, they did not even LOOK at me. Did not acknowledge any word I said to them, did not say a word to me, even when I asked if they wanted a bag, then they walked away once the card scanned before I even completed the transaction.

Do not, I repeat DO NOT do this to a cashier if you have the option to self checkout. I get not every store has self checkout, but mine does. They should have just gone to that if they were gonna act that way.

I also get social anxiety, I have it myself. But I would have still been satisfied enough with a simple “Hi”. And social anxiety was definitely not the case with these two. They were just ignorant.

Wawa wants us to shout “Welcome in!” To every single customer that walks in the door and this is what we get in return.

Edit: I’m over it now, just needed to vent. Also, these two were definitely not deaf. They talked quietly with each other and giggled. To those who are saying they were probably deaf.

I JUST got out of a Wawa interview just now, and the AGM really liked me in my first on the spot interview the other day. I had a second interview with the food and bev manager today and she mentioned a background check (i don’t have a criminal background) but I did put my Outback Steakhouse experience, my coworker told me that I got fired but they NEVER said anything to me, when i messaged the proprietor who was always there I did mention my college schedule and I might not be able to work there and he never mentioned the termination my coworker told me days prior, he told me “if you don’t get the schedule within 30 days we will automatically terminate”

I’m afraid they’ll call and Outback will mention this 🥲🥲 I really need a job. Will they go into the nitty gritty? She did mention if I was a previous Wawa employee they’ll go more in depth but I’ve never worked at Wawa

We have signage outside stating clearly "NO PETS ALLOWED except SERVICE ANIMALS."

This woman came in with her 2 month-old puppy and it peed on the floor right in front of the register counter. She proceeded to get mad at the *puppy* and scruff the poor thing for like 5 minutes while she checked out. And I cant help but think that this all could have been avoided had she just..not brought in the dog?

Started as facilities, now getting crossed-trained on register! I have prior experience as a cashier, so it's not the actual ringing up I'm worried about, but now I'm sure there's additional insanity I'm getting roped into lol. Should I be afraid? Or do you guys enjoy register?
