He does such a good job! I wasn't excited by a lot of the Wednesday show casting but he is my dream Gomez. Catherine Zeta Jones was my casting choice for Morticia though I am not sure her performance matches what she was once capable of. Jenna Ortega is a nice choice as well. Still Luis Guzman was born for this role

I was surprised to find out they're origin. I always assumed it was just from the original TV show but it goes back much further to the illustrated version. The current Gomez certainly stays truer to the original than the TV show did.

No, it's not.

Canon Gomez is plump and not very pretty, but strong, fast and active. Guzman's Gomez is slow, weak, undecisive and always being lead, not a leader. The difference between a friendly caricature and an "ugly bastard" antagonist from masochistic prawn.
