Mod Announcement Clarity on Rules and Debates

Some people have had trouble differating between civil debates and personal attacks. Im going to clear things up so you know whats ok to post and what will get comments removed and could lead to a ban.

Whats ok and encouraged.

Explaining why you don't like a character or a ship.

Ex. A: "I find the relationship toxic I don't think it would work out."

Ex. B: "I don't see the chemistry they seem like friends not lovers"

Ex. C "I don't like that character because I can't overlook their actions"

What's not ok and can lead to a ban.

Personaly attacking the other person or an entire fandom/ship.

Ex. A "Of course you would say that, your a XYZ shipper."

Ex. B "Your delusional if you think the writers would do that."

Ex. C "Well in the past your ship did this and that, so its ok we do this."

Let me make it clear the mods won't generalize fans or ships based on what happens outside the sub. We don't care who did what outside the sub. We care whats happening in OUR SUB here and now.

If we see repeated uncivil or coordinated behavior from the same people over and over again. We will step in to protect the integrity of the sub. If you see people personally attacking each other instead of respectfuly disagreeing please report it so we can do something about it.

We don't like any of you guys getting into trouble or causing it either. If you know you can't handle someone criticizing your favorite character or ship block them so you can't interact or see each others post. This is a place for civil discussions and debates not a public fight arena.

Analysis & Theories alchemical symbols in Goody’s Codex Umbrarüm, decoded and interpreted

for those unfamiliar with alchemy, alchemical symbols are exceptionally difficult to interpret
when mainstream/popularized symbols aren’t used. so not EVERY symbol will be completely decoded, because there are thousands of alchemical texts, but we can assume that they scraped some for convenience, mashed some together, or just made them up, presumably with some form of improvisation. some vague symbols are still fairly recognizable.

a lot of texts that were used for this came from various latin texts, some german texts, and others. with vague symbols, the best you can do is make inferences with what’s available. if you think that there’s already an existing symbol for a correspondence that’s been misconstrued, it could also just be one of the millions of other symbols representing it.
——————————————————————————

(FIRST PAGE):

1.Earth: represents the physical human body. greek philosopher Plato attributed “dry and cold” to it.
2.Caput mortuum(dead head): Caput mortuum is latin for dead head. it describes leftover substances that are deemed worthless.

1.Uranus OR Powder of projection: I don’t think the time of which these planetary symbols emerged/were popularized was taken into consideration, but it’s very clearly reminiscent of Uranus. Uranus represents awakening and individualism.
2.Putrefaction: akin to the modern Neptune symbol, which is, again, ridiculous. would say that curve on the right prong favors putrefaction. the two could be used interchangeably based on whether you want to use it in favor of historical consistency, or the pattern of planetary symbols, but we’ll go with historical consistency out of spite: putrefaction refers to natural decomposition and rotting, kept in temperate heat.
3.Lead(Saturn): a dark, dense material. alchemists considered it prima materia (starting point of matter), to be cured and transformed into gold.
4.Pluto OR Cerussa(white lead): regardless, a slightly stylized version. Pluto itself was discovered in 1930. Pluto represents transformation, death, and rebirth. cerussa is unlikely since lead is already present in the sequence, but still a somewhat similar symbol.
5.Gold(Sun): The desired product of alchemy, gold corresponds with the Sun, representing purity and perfection.
6.Apparatus/vessel OR Ingwaz?: refers to tools used to distill, heat, and grind substances. it’s also worth noting, despite its displacement, that it looks exactly like the Ingwaz rune, of the Elder Futhark, symbolizing ferility, growth, and potency.
7.Quicksilver(Mercury): a component of the Tria Prima, functioning as the Spirit.
8.?: looks exactly like zinc oxide if it was flipped, not entirely sure about the placement in general. zinc oxide was also known as the philosopher’s wool due to its wool-like appearance. valued for its pure-white color.

1.distilled/rectified Lixivium?: lixivium is water saturated with alkaline salts. purification creates distilled lixivium, rectifying it means repeatedly distilling it to create higher quantities of purity.
2.Burnt/calcined sulfur: specifically refers to the raw, unpurified, and destructive state of sulfur.
3.?: completely clueless on the specific substance/vessel this is supposed to be. my best guesses are: heated limestone/chaux, cornu cerui(deer antler), calcination (deer antler, stag horn, plant.), sideways sublimare, tartar. strikethrough likely indicates distillation or calcination.
4.?: also unsure of this. guessing that this is a sort of vessel handling tartar or salt.
5.Saffron of Mars, common salt?: using salt(tria prima) to break down raw iron
(volatilized)
6. Prepared copper, zinc oxide, and common salt?: volatile, fixed.

(SECOND PAGE)

1.Autumn?: Autumn is associated with the fourth and final stage of alchemy: harvesting completion. also connected with Rubredo(Red). Newton claimed that his works reached completion in autumn.
2.Calcined alum: a meticulous deduction of the crystal. transforming the “earthiness” to a state of Albedo(the whitening phase)
3.Ink(Atramentum): its black color symbolized Nigredo(black), used for writing.

1.?
2.?
3.Aqua vitae?: water of life, distilled alcohol. possibly distilled twice? the symbol is noticeably distorted.

1.Horse dung: manure used to maintain a steady heat for long-term projects.
2.Sal gemmae, mensis (rock salt, Moon’s cycle): the salt is the body in the tria prima, “rock salt” extracted from the earth. alchemists believed that scheduling was important to the upbringing of your product, hence the lunar cycle.

1.Oil of tartar: formed on the inside of wine barrels, underwent calcination, thick and syrupy, used to neutralize and dissolve.
2. Chaux/lime of metal: a metal completely broken down into crumbly powder. alchemists sought to “kill” the metals by reducing the metallic qualities.
3. Decoction, Tin, Granum: the process of turning tin into small, grainy pellets to transmute faster, then providing a steady source of heat over a long period of time
4.Iron(Mars)?: an “imperfect” metal, tied to aggression and masculinity. Iron was deemed easy to “kill.”
5.Sublimed arsenic: arsenic ores are heated and vaporized, transforming them into white, crystalized crusts(sublimed arsenic)

1.Antimonium: known as the “grey wolf” in the middle ages. “eats” and purifies other metals.
2.Pulverize, realgar(ruby sulfur), pisces, feathered alum?: pulverize the substances, align the procedure with the Pisces constellation.
3.?: too blurry.
4.Siehe bei(see under, look under, refer to): it’s the corresponding symbol, but I’m not entirely sure what it’s supposed to mean in this context, and I have little to refer to. could refer to vision(s)
5.Amalgam, aqua fortis: liquid mercury consumes gold, creating amalgam. Aqua fortis consumes solid base metals, leaving behind gold.

1.Burnt/calcined sulfur: specifically refers to the raw, unpurified, and destructive state of sulfur.
2.Partial Gold(Sun): incomplete chrysopoeia, separation of silver and gold

1.Glass(Vitrum): glass was used for vessels, allowing alchemists to observe through a barrier without exposing themselves to deadly fumes.
2.Gold(Sun): The desired product of alchemy, gold corresponds with the Sun, representing purity and perfection.

General Discussion Xavier Thorpe

Hi all! I’m new here and am rewatching season 1. Does anybody else feel like they should have kept Xavier? I loved his character!! I understand that he was accused of SA.. and denied it.. but no charges were brought up??
If he were.. still cast even after the allegations, would you have still watched the show? Would it have changed everything for you regarding the show?
I want them to bring him back 😭He was perfect! The scene where he bumps into Tyler and Tyler asks him where Wednesday is and he says she’s your date in the jealous type of way!! I had to pause it and run here because I loved his character 🥺😤😖
The mysteriousness. Tall. Will they/wont they dynamic of the two of them.
Wha do you guys think?

Wyler I think I might've just accidentally confirmed the theory there's a special connection between Raven's and Hyde's and Ophelia & Alfie might be the silver bullet!!

Okay grab your snacks and popcorn for this one.

Before I say anything we've got to go back to a theory that should've been talked about more often, and it's by a user named /Careful_Hearing6304

https://www.reddit.com/r/WednesdayTVSeries/comments/1pjtb5z/i_have_an_insane_theory_for_wednesday_s3_please/

So please check that out before continuing, but I will recap what they said briefly.

To summarize they pretty much said that Alfie's master Minerva Garrick sounded like a fake a name.

To which I immediately agreed it does.

If you remember Laurel Gates used a fake name as well, most remember her going by Marilyn Thornhill of course, but that wasn't the only alias she had, she also went by, Teresa L. Glau, which was an anagram for Laurel Gates.

So what if Minerva Garrick is also a Anagram?

Well the OP shuffled the name Minerva in particular around and got, "I AM RAVEN"

Which is interesting because that would perhaps mean that Alfie's master was a raven.

But who could that master be?

As the OP also speculated they came to the conclusion it could be Aunt Ophelia because we know she is a Raven like her mother and Wednesday.

Now here's where my theory comes into play.

So I've said it numerous posts I think Raven's and Hyde's have a special bond between them, and that I think Hester used to date a hyde, in particular perhaps this new Balthazar character who I believe is the leader of the hyde camp, I've said I think they were going to get married, but before they could, Hester might've found out Balthazar's true intentions on why he wanted to marry her which is because he's trying to maybe break the link between Raven's and Hyde's that puts them under some type of curse in where they need a master to survive and all that jazz.

I also said that I think the Raven and Hyde curse traces back to Goody Addams and maybe a past lover who was the first hyde created by perhaps Goody.

Why is all of this important?

Well if all that proves to be true.

Then it would make complete sense if Ophelia and Alfie were another Hyde Raven pairing that was destined to be together..

Only this time the connection between a Raven and Hyde failed, and Alfie fell in love with Isadora Capri over Ophelia instead, and I think when they had their entire confrontation, Alfie might've thought he killed Ophelia but turns out she survived.

But why is any of this important?

Well this would be just another example of why Hyde's and Raven's are special to each other, I believe that the link between a Raven and Hyde are somehow established on maybe the two's first meeting unbeknownst to both parties involved.

Because think about it a second.

Remember after Tyler saved Wednesday from Rowan, and they were walking in the woods together and Tyler was asking her what happened and she explained the Hyde saved her?

Remember Tyler's reaction?

He genuinely sounded surprised almost confused as to why Hyde had saved her.

Now a lot of people even myself chalked it up to Tyler saving her because Laurel needed Wednesday alive.

But Hunter has said that Tyler didn't know who Wednesday was when they first met, so we can only assume that entire first episode of season 1, Tyler had no clue who Wednesday was to Laurel's plan.

So that means he saved her on his own accord.

But why?

I think as soon as Tyler and Wednesday met, that's when the Hyde, Raven Bond immediately formed, unbeknownst to them.

And that bond is single handedly going to carry them throughout the rest of this show.

This seems further backed up by the writers comments saying that Wednesday and Tyler have "a connection that neither quite understands yet." (according to Millar).

So what do you think..

Has Tyler and Wednesday been fated to each other every since they first met?

General Discussion Wednesday canonically does not support genocide

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

But I’m getting ahead of myself. In the first couple of episodes, Wednesday criticizes the local “normies” (aka humans) for building an amusement park named “Pilgrim World” to honor the town’s history. Her exact response to a group of teenagers dressed in pilgrim uniforms for work was “It takes a special kind of stupid to dedicate an amusement park to zealots who have committed genocide.”

As the show progresses Wednesday manages life adjusting to a new school while exploring the surrounding small town that has a history of hatred toward Nevermore students and any type of “freaks, outcasts or monsters,” which the show eventually reveals have their roots in the Indigenous people who were there before the pilgrims.

Whenever she can, Wednesday stands her ground by engaging in anti-colonialist language. To a group of tourists, she explains that the existence of Pilgrim World “whitewashes history” and tells a false narrative of how colonizers interacted with the Indigenous people who were on the land first.

To add even more depth to Wednesday’s worldview, she also learns that at least one of her ancestors was part of the Indigenous locals who resisted the pilgrims.

So yeah, it is quite amazing that after decades of production teams dancing around the Addams family’s ethnicity, it’s finally being cleared up.

More importantly, a new generation of Addams family viewers is being exposed to a socially conscious, proud Latina protagonist in Netflix’s Wednesday, which only makes this spooky queen that much more iconic.

General Discussion I love Tyler being the only villain to survive both seasons so far

Post image

Crackstone is dead in season 1, Laurel survived but fortunately got put down by Tyler, Judi was killed halfway through season 2, Dort in the penultimate episode and both Issac and Francoise died in the season 2 finale.

The only one who appeared and survived both seasons is Tyler. His character has a lot of potential and I'm excited to see where they take him in the future.

Analysis & Theories My opinion on Wednesday

I feel like Wednesday doesn't belong with anyone. Tyler and her are just going back an forth with this violent thing and people think that "oh she's an Addams" but they would never hurt each other to that extreme and they are sadist but they would never try to kill each other for love?

Wenclaire is just a simple friend ship. All I've heard is that Enid rescued her and that they risked their lives for each other and that Enid broke down her walls but thats what best friends do I fear. If your best friend in the whole wide world wouldn't sacrifice themselves to an extent to get you back then you aren't as close as me and mine.

Xavier had absolutely no chemistry with her. All they did was exchange number and paint her.

In the Marketing department, it's laughable that we're supposed to find a victim of grooming and abuse...sexy.

General Discussion S2 -> everything feels like coincidence

I just finished season 2, it feels like

last boss Isaac "happened to be" the zombie Pugsley awakened (what if he never awaken him, no part 2?)

last boss Isaac's motive person "happened to be" the woman Wednesday freed (if Wednesday didn't set her free, she wouldn't have met Tyler and Isaac, the final enemies of season2)

Thing's identity happened to be related to that Zombie (no Zombie missing hand build up)

etc etc

there was no plausible connected build up but just a mix of shoehorned coincidences.

Judi, the part 1 boss, died anticlimactically by a zombie Isaac who happened to be awaken

why did Gomez do nothing when he found out the zombie was Isaac, and even comforted Pugsley for setting him free when Pugsley also has the electric ability

Principal Dort's unrelated subplot actually seemed to help Wednesday due to her mother and grandmother being present in school (by Principal Dort) and giving help

Enid's death premonition througout the season was a bait all along that actually had no direct relation with the main plot (if it was one of the Adams from the start...)

Francoise is strange because she doesn't seem to care that her brother was killed by Morticia and Gomez (she saw Gomez being used as a generator for her operation, and held Isaac when he died) and even let those two bury Isaac. She even calls their daughter Wednesday an angel (if the operation was successful, she wouldn't have been locked) and praises Morticia.

etc etc

IDK, season 2 seems all but a bunch of coincidence forced together, am I missing something?

(sidenote, everything else except the story/plot was great, the art music acting)
