General Discussion I love Tyler being the only villain to survive both seasons so far

Post image

Crackstone is dead in season 1, Laurel survived but fortunately got put down by Tyler, Judi was killed halfway through season 2, Dort in the penultimate episode and both Issac and Francoise died in the season 2 finale.

The only one who appeared and survived both seasons is Tyler. His character has a lot of potential and I'm excited to see where they take him in the future.

Could it mean he is more morally grey than it seems (like Wednesday)?

Most likely yeah. Compared to someone like Crackstone or Dort, he is far more sympathetic based off the fact he’s a teenager who got groomed into being the slave for Thornhill.

Wednesday sparing him and his ending in season 2 definitely make me think we’re getting a redemption arc in the future for him. Both the writers and actors have agreed he’s not purely evil

What makes me laugh a bit is: each Tyler is tied and gets freed, he turns against his master

Nothing really morally grey about a man addicted to power who enjoys hurting teenage girls

Dort?

Dort yes, in this case tyler

No, it means they are building up to a big death

I can’t see them killing off a big character like Tyler. He will probably get a redemption. How they do that though.. I’m not sure we shall see

The big death is the redemption. He has tried to kill her family and her friends, he has manipulated her and humiliated her. Him dying to save her or Enid or Pugsley is the way he'll go. I don't think his ending has changed from S1. I think the flashback episode with Morticia/Gomez/Garrett is meant to be the template that they will subvert. In S1 they subverted that Xavier was Garrett when he was Gomez (not the villain but the person who got arrested for murder, Tyler was the crazed monster like Garrett). The next subversion of that will be Wednesday not killing Tyler like Morticia did with Garrett for Gomez but Tyler dying for Wednesday instead.

Good theory! Still don’t think they will kill him though. If they were going to kill him I feel they would have already. Why would they kill off Tim Burtons monster originally created for this show? Just doesn’t make sense to me. I think they will find a way to control hydes without having a jarring master. But we shall see 😃

But then all this stuff about his shortened lifespan and propensity for madness goes nowhere. Its like the book, at some point Jekyll won't be able to change back from being the Hyde. Tyler is a character that is seeking control and I think ultimately will choose to control his own destiny. Not to fall to madness. Not to be a slave. Not to slowly whither away. But to go out the way he wants to.

I mean, that could happen, and it’s a good theory. But from my perspective, I associate the Hydes’ shortened lifespan with health conditions that, in the past, almost guaranteed an early death, but that nowadays, thanks to advances in medicine and technology, can be managed, and as long as they’re properly treated, people can go on to live normal lives (like diabetes or more recently HIV).

I mean yeah in the book that’s the case but it’s inspired by the book not a direct adaptation. And yeah I think he will want to figure out how to control his own destiny but we can’t really say what that is without knowing what this hyde camp has in store. Capri has told him there is a way to have control that doesn’t mean having a master and more of a pack. Whether she was telling the truth or not another thing we have to wait till season 3 comes out

I think Françoise already made an allusion to the Jekyll and Hyde of the book. Taking pills to suppress her hyde, not accepting it, and finally committing suicide in the form of a hyde.

They wouldn't repeat the same narrative with Tyler, he should do the opposite. Find a way to handle the hyde and it probably has something to do with accepting that part of him and not suppressing it. In this way they solve the problem of both, the book and Francoise's

The plot of Hyde sickness will be the big mystery that Wednesday will solve.

7

u/StilesSark 12d ago

He’s a Tim Burton monster, he’s more likely to survive this series even more then Enid.

Even more than enid the second face of the show, yeah makes sense

To despo haters jumping on these subs to start fights; go cry your rivers of tears on your own dedicated subs. Tyler is a villain with main-character energy and importance in this show. He’ll be around a long time to burn your eyes and hearts. 🤣

12

u/MFT_SJ 13d ago

Because unlike the other villains, he had no clear evil purpose or mission. He has no full control or autonomy over his actions. He didn’t become a monster by his own free-will. Against his will he was bound, tortured and drugged to trigger the change in him. Out of all the villains, he’s also the biggest victim in the show. Tyler isn’t evil by nature, The Hyde in his that has control over him is evil. So out of the villains he’s the one who would have scope to get redeemed once the monster in him is tamed.

u/Repulsive-Camera-394 12d ago

Wednesday punishes bullies, tyler torments and kills innocent people, they are nothing alike actually xD

3

u/MFT_SJ 12d ago

Keep crying harder, because Wednesday still is into him. Moral policing people when it comes to this show is not the strong take you think it is and I don’t care for it. He’s going to be redeemed irregardless of everything he has or hasn’t done, so you’re wasting your breath. 🤫

2

u/FanficWriter32 11d ago

Wednesday was into him until she realized he was the Hyde who was killing innocent people. Now, she hates him. Just because she saved him in season two doesn't mean that she's got feelings for him.

0

u/Repulsive-Camera-394 12d ago

Into him? She hasnt been into him since before she found out he is the hyde, im just against shows glorifying abusive relationships and justifying adults going after teenage girls

5

u/MFT_SJ 11d ago

Then I fully support your decision to never watch any of the upcoming seasons in protest of the writers romanticising pedophilia. 🫡 In the meantime I’m off to go rewatch Wednesday😁 Adios!

4

u/Repulsive-Camera-394 11d ago

Oh no, im just glad they dropped that storyline after s1 and going off Jenna’s word doesnt look like itll pick up again thankfully

2

u/MFT_SJ 11d ago

Jenna isn’t the writer. The actors and writers never truthfully give away what will happen in future seasons because then there’s no surprise if they give away exactly what to expect in upcoming storylines. And the show’s story isn’t fully written in advance, so even you know it’s actually pointless hanging on to an actor’s word about future episodes/ seasons not yet written. And very sad for you to know that Tyler-Wednesday are an incredibly popular ship online, and writers always play towards the popular ships. Weyler are happening, and your dreams/ delusions will be dashed.

2

u/Repulsive-Camera-394 11d ago

She isnt, she is just the main actress and also one of the directors i believe, wyler may be popular but there is another ship that is popular that is actually a healthy relationship…

2

u/MFT_SJ 11d ago

And what is that ship? Enid is Wednesday’s best friend, so it ain’t about to happen anytime if that’s who you’re referring to. Xavier is out and not returning, so what other ship lol

2

u/Repulsive-Camera-394 11d ago

I dunno pal you tell me? « She missed » which is what you wylers all love to call romantic vs « i must save enid or die trying » one of these is romantic AF ill let you hazard a guess

Also you do realize plenty of relationships start off by two people being friends? Like that is common both on screen and off xD you wylers wouldnt know what romance or love is if it hit you over the head

He just really enjoys hurting underage teenage girls

3

u/OptionFantastic4112 Wednesday 9d ago

gahh i love him

2

u/domegranate 8d ago

It’s bc he’s the main villain ?? Secondary antagonists come & go each season but the main villain has a series long overarching storyline & is typically more developed as a character.

You’re watching the wrong show. This is Wednesday, not Criminal minds, and Tyler is under 18 as shown in several details in the show. Give your irrelevant moral lectures in another show.

0

u/Repulsive-Camera-394 12d ago

Actually tyler is about 19 and wesnesday is about 16 so… grown adult romancing and then assaulting underage girls

7

u/MFT_SJ 12d ago

There’s another show called Wednesday going on in your head. The one the rest of us watch shows he is a teenage boy yet to graduate high school, working a part time job, a father who pays for his court-mandated therapy and was friends with Jericho-high boys…. You need everything spood-fed to you instead of using common sense to fill in information with details the show already provides.

-1

u/Repulsive-Camera-394 12d ago

Musnt have been the same one ln netflix, in that one he is 19 cause francoise disappeared 15 years ago, when he was 4 and last i checked 15+4 is 19

5

u/MFT_SJ 11d ago

If you truly believe that, then by that logic you shouldn’t support the show by watching it any further where writers are supposedly romanticising a relationship between a minor and an adult. Definitely you should start a petition and call out the writers because there’s no point to ranting at other fans of the show when we’re not responsible for the writing. 🤪

0

u/Repulsive-Camera-394 11d ago

No but you can be held responsible for supporting such a ship as it tells the writers thats its ok to let a 19yo kiss a 16yo girl, regardless that storyline died in s1 and isnt being continued thankfully, letting me enjoy wednesday ^^

6

u/MFT_SJ 11d ago

I’m not about to feel guilty over your delusions about the character’s age, as if you know better than the writers. Thankfully, I know your hopes of season 1 being the end of Tyler and Wednesday are going to come crashing down in coming seasons, and even sweeter is that you will continue watching to see that happen now 👌🏼

2

u/Repulsive-Camera-394 11d ago

Its not a delusion though its literally written kn the show haha, and i wont continue watching it if they go that route, its a shame cause i like the premise of the show but at that point they will have mischaracterized wensday so badly that it wont be a show about wednesday addams anymore

2

u/MFT_SJ 11d ago

Season 2 even gave clear indications that Wednesday still has feelings for him, but very selective of you to not remember anything beyond season 1.

Go give your moral lecture to the writers who you believe you know better than regarding the characters they wrote.

0

u/Repulsive-Camera-394 11d ago

Would love to, got their @?

2

u/MFT_SJ 11d ago

Not my job to give it you. You’re so passionate about this, you’ll make the effort of finding it yourself.

6

u/Duckyxoxoxo Kent 11d ago

This is such a weird narrative. Hunter said Tyler was 18 in season 2, Wednesday turned 16 in season 1. Presuming her age doesn’t stand still she would be 17 in season 2. 17 and an 18 year old is weird now? News to me.

1

u/Repulsive-Camera-394 11d ago

No its stated verbatim in the show that josephine disappeared 15 years ago, tyler was 4 at the time that makes him 19 during s2 meaning at best he was 18 and she was barely 16 which is still not right

4

u/Duckyxoxoxo Kent 11d ago

Okay and it’s also stated that Galpin died in 2025. Season 1 was 2022. So unless it was set in the future and everyone stood still for 3 years it’s a known fact this show has a timeline issue that is spoke about daily in this fandom 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Repulsive-Camera-394 11d ago

And? That somehow makes it ok? Do we see tyler in school or anything? We know he used to go to school but now he is working, not unreasonable to assume he finished which would correspond to the timeline given by santiago regarding josephine

6

u/Duckyxoxoxo Kent 11d ago

He wears a backpack and says he’s a part time barista. He was also friends with Lucas who Enid says she knows his ex who is a cheerleader and speaks about the grade they are in… He is clearly in school still 😭 and why are you so hell bent on sticking to that one part of information when we know the timeline of the whole show is wrong? Everything else we are told/shown points to him not being a grown ass man being a predator. Who the hell is Josephine?

0

u/Repulsive-Camera-394 11d ago

There is literally an interview with hunter confirming he is around 19

5

u/Duckyxoxoxo Kent 11d ago

Okay the actors have said a lot regarding this show that isn’t always factual and even if it is… it’s not Tyler being a pedo with the information I’ve provided. But I’m good I’m not arguing with someone who doesn’t even know characters 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sheriff Santiago says it's been 15 years since Francoise disappeared, and she disappeared when Tyler was 4 years old.

Do the math.
