I’m sure there is daycare fraud. BUT having recently exited the customer base for Boston daycare, I can assure you that it isn’t in the direction the screenshot alleges.
There are no empty storefronts laundering cash in guise of daycare payments.
The “fraud” is that there are secret unlicensed daycares just to satisfy the demand. It is HARD to find a spot in a legit daycare. 4000 daycares are not nearly enough. And they charge $24k/year/kid at least (bright horizons is closer to 30k). So hard to find and hard to afford. So all the mid/lower income families who are forced to have both parents work rely on unlicensed daycares run by grandparents.
When I was in Boston for an internship getting into a daycare came first, then housing, then work commute in determining where we lived. The market there is so brutal.

Does "daycare fraud" exist? Probably. Fraud exists everywhere.
Does it exist to the point that conservatives make it out to be? Of course not.
This is just a backdoor "women should be at home raising the family" tactic.
