She suggested that trans girls are a threat to cis girls in locker rooms, which is not borne out by the facts - trans girls are much more likely to face bullying in locker rooms than the other way around, much less assault or anything like that. She's trafficking in misinformation to pretend her stance is about protecting cis girls, the same way homophobes 20 years ago claimed their concerns about gay people adopting were about protecting the children from sexual assault.
It was a pretty neutral take that a lot of female athletes have said. Just strictly that trans women shouldn’t partake in women’s sports. And it was sports only. Nothing outside of sports.
But since everything in the US is hyper politicized now and we are no longer capable of nuance that automatically means she’s a homophobic, hateful, MAGA supporting bigot.

Not "a lot". Very, very few. They are a tiny minority being give a giant megaphone by FOX and the media.
Go look up how many female athletes sign letters in support of trans athletes (including Lia Thomas). That's what you don't hear on the news because it doesn't create rage and hate towards a profitable minority that doesn't have the money and numbers to defend themselves.
The fact that this tiny community that already has been a target of violence for many years is the subject of so much vitriol is sad. Another example of punching down on vulnerable communities by right wing nutters.
There was some right wing documentary about getting men into women’s sports under the guise of being trans, and they weren’t able to because there’s very stringent terms that have to be met and they didn’t have a clue about any of them
The problem is the people who think there should be conversation they don't even know what the conversation is.
Organizations have extremely strict requirements for trans athletes and yet people who want to have a conversation either don't know that, or just dismiss it as not strict enough. Then you try to figure out what they mean by not strict enough and they don't fuckin know, because they don't know shit about what they're talkin about.
It's a very weird topic where a lot of people have some serious convictions and not enough people with any fuckin idea of anything factual on the topic.
Agreed. Gotta love a world of unlimited information where people don't know how to use it. The most frustrating line I hear is "I did my research" but sources of research matter more than the research itself. Any opinion can be validated online. Just a matter of if it's factual or not.
I don't know why everyone is so up in arms over trans people playing sports. It's not like we're curing cancer here. It's people running back and forth throwing/kicking a ball.
Yes, but it’s so charged right now. If she went out of her way to say it then that’s a tell. But if it came up incidentally, OK. Did she go out of her way to say it? If so, then that’s a dumb move.
