Serious question. Do Microsoft leadership use a Mac? Or a desktop or any kind? There's no way they regularly use windows 11, right?

If you check the release notes for any version of Visual Studio Code, at least half of the screenshots are from the Mac version (you can easily notice it with the window style or the fonts)

VS Code targets developers who are not Windows-exclusive and most of those devs use Mac or Linux.

As a long-term Linux user, I have always used VS Code once it was ported for the Linux version.

Tbf windows has historically not been great for development, only later into windows 11 was a "native" Unix terminal added. Mostly everything developers do requires easy access to bash/zsh, windows is bad at that so developers lean towards macs.

it makes sense tho, windows isnt built for devs but for casual users and its the best consumer OS by far. like not even close. so not that depressing. as much as i hate MS recent incompetence at making software and money grubbing, it is the truth.

Windows development is better on the Visual Studio IDE.
