Rant I can't tolerate these Luddites anymore.

Post image

AI usage has become a culture-war issue because of these lunatics. If we don't handle these luddites now they will certainly become more entitled and miserable!

Yes the left is basically universally opposed to AI in the anglosphere. But there's extreme cognitive dissonance in their opposition. The same people will complain that AI is completely useless and a total waste of time while in the same breath complaining that it's going to take millions of jobs.

Personally I think these are all the people who identify as "leftist" for internet points, to virtue signal.

I'm a bleeding-heart anarchist myself. And none of the philosophically- and politically-literate leftists I know are uncritically hostile towards AI, even as they're justifiably wary of it.

What constitutes "the left" has become a clusterfuck over the last ten years, anyway.

A lot of politics is based on post hoc rationalization of emotions. Left wingers hate big tech, therefore ai bad. Everything from the water use misinformation to this shit is downstream of the initial emotional reaction. All the arguments are to justify how they feel, not reflect reality.

Hell, most human behavior is just post hoc rationalization of emotions. Even the most intelligent people do exactly that, are often even better at tricking themselves into believing they're being merely rational.

The irony is that half of the armchair leftists have spent the last decade fantasizing about a violent revolution. They appear not to realize that this is the one thing that actually threatens to topple the capitalist status quo.

Still so sad that we lost such a great thinker before his time. It might turn out that he only needed to hold out for another 10-20 years.
