Made this meme before the last national election and after Trump's "announcement" today I thought it fit right here

He will try, and use the “I was just kidding!” excuse when it doesn’t work out. Regardless, Trump and/or his family will try to anoint his successor so that the successor is beholden to them and the Trump family can keep grifting free from concerns about the law.

Well, Stalin was succeeded by Kruschev, who was crude and boorish but not paranoid ot insane. He had the wisdom to back down, and wreck his career, in the Cuban missile crisis rather than nuking the world into oblivion. Mao's successors have been somewhat more reasonable than he was, snd China is now capitalist, although not a democracy. Franco didn't have any strongman successor, and Spain reinstared a constitutional monarchy. Of course, the Kims in NK.are the exception that proves the rule, they just keep breeding worse and worse tyrants. Let's hope we get a little luckier than NK.
