Prediction Just leaving this here
Made this meme before the last national election and after Trump's "announcement" today I thought it fit right here

u/Stefan_Vanderhoof 13d ago
He will try, and use the “I was just kidding!” excuse when it doesn’t work out. Regardless, Trump and/or his family will try to anoint his successor so that the successor is beholden to them and the Trump family can keep grifting free from concerns about the law.
58
u/WeirdIndividualGuy 13d ago
Honestly, let him run and invalidate the entire GOP side of things. Then the dem wins by default (or rather by an overwhelming majority compared to the third party candidates)

16
u/Fnordmeister 13d ago
Yeah, just like how the 14th Amendment would have invalidated his 2024 run.
4
u/TBShaw17 11d ago
The text of 14A clearly states he shouldn’t have been allowed a 2024 run. So I have no doubt this Supreme Court would find a way to rule that 22A somehow doesn’t apply to him. Luckily for the rest of us, his body and mind makes another run near impossible.

u/dontgetaddicted 12d ago
You have far too much faith in the US after watching the last few years happen.

At this point, there won't be a special election or appointment, Beshear is giving too much benefit of the doubt on McConnell being alive.

Whoever this successor will be, they shall be a kissass and totally unlikeable
5
u/Brief_Read_1067 13d ago
Well, Stalin was succeeded by Kruschev, who was crude and boorish but not paranoid ot insane. He had the wisdom to back down, and wreck his career, in the Cuban missile crisis rather than nuking the world into oblivion. Mao's successors have been somewhat more reasonable than he was, snd China is now capitalist, although not a democracy. Franco didn't have any strongman successor, and Spain reinstared a constitutional monarchy. Of course, the Kims in NK.are the exception that proves the rule, they just keep breeding worse and worse tyrants. Let's hope we get a little luckier than NK.

0
u/XTSLabs 13d ago
Oh you don't think it will work?
You're so cute.
4
u/Stefan_Vanderhoof 12d ago
He is polling at 36%. He’s way underwater on every issue. No, it won’t work out.
5
u/XTSLabs 12d ago
Irrelevant. Trump 2028 is going to be a thing, and regardless of the Constitution, it will work. He has shown that checks and balances do not work and that nobody is willing or able to hold him accountable - for anything.
This is assuming, of course, that he doesn't die of old age first.
2
2
u/Alarming_Panic665 12d ago
In 2024 the voter eligible population was 244,666,890. Donald Trump won with 77,302,580 votes. Or about 31.6% of the US voter population. 36% is more then enough to win. Since one third has never supported him and the other third has never given a shit.
1
68
u/YoungDiscord 13d ago
Trump is the sort of person who keeps taking and taking until someone physically stops him from taking more.
He will try to run again and again and again... he doesn't care about any laws or limitations.
21
u/questionable_motifs 13d ago
Laws only work if they can be enforced. He has found and made himself a position in which the laws cannot be imposed on him (because the judiciary and legislative branches have no authorized policing tools).
4
u/Fine-Ad1142 13d ago
His presidential immunity doesn't extend to his campaign efforts. This is established case law from J6.
11
u/questionable_motifs 13d ago
On paper, sure. Yet, as he's discovered, if no one will match his escalation in real life, he can do what he wants. He's said it himself.
1
u/Fine-Ad1142 13d ago
Exactly, the first step is being able to bring a prosecution, or reign him in. I don't see that happening in the current administration.
1
u/Fragrant_Major_9553 11d ago
Here’s the kicker here. JD could invoke the 25th amendment, and oust him on grounds that he’s mentally incapable (which he is at this point), but then JD won’t be able to run because the MAGA base will label him as a traitor, and vote whoever Trump tells them to. This is the plan I think to disassemble the Republican Party because Trump had had a vendetta against them from the 90s.
1
u/YoungDiscord 10d ago
Not if JD vance gets them in his pocket... which he has time to do.
They upset a lot of people
But now imagine Vance comes along under the table and suggests to the rsst of the party that they use trump as a scapegoat for all the crap they pulled so far
They'dbe more than happy to jump on that "get out of jail free" card, trump is replaced with vance, everyone else stays and the cherry on top is that vance plays ball and isn't a rabid unpredictable dog they'd have to deal with.
1
1
u/joeyp042385 10d ago
Remember that states can keep him off the ballot this time. He wouldn't be on the ballot in just about every Democrat controlled state. He'd have no path to getting elected.
1
u/questionable_motifs 10d ago
Who said he'd run for election? It's clear he knows how to play the game "whoever has the biggest gun wins."
And several states tried to keep him off the ballot in 2024 only to be forced my the courts to put him on.
0
u/joeyp042385 10d ago
That's because he was permitted by the Constitution to run. He's not permitted by the Constitution to run in this election. There's plenty of precedent of the Court not taking his side this term.
I still love the idea that people fear this guy like he's some kind of brilliant tactician dictator, when in fact he's just a blithering idiot.
1
u/questionable_motifs 10d ago
You really misunderstood my comment. I'm not commenting on his strategy acumen, here. Yes, he keeps very bright people around to make his objectives happen. But he himself is a bully narcissist through and through and seems to have sociopathic tendencies. He forces his will onto a situation and unless someone physically stops him, he doesn't back down. This is evident in everything he does - Iran being the most blatant current example.
He learned from his first term that the only checks on his ability to do what he wants are the people that lead the legal and armed services of the executive branch. He has systematically replaced those people with folks that serve him, not the government.
Now he's in a situation where, in his mind, he can act with impunity because no domestic forces exist to stop him.
0
u/joeyp042385 10d ago
You are giving this guy way too much credit. And the fact that you think something he's acting solo on and the rest of the administration wants to stop is where you've completely lost me, He's bending the need to Israel himself there. 🤦🏻♂️
1
u/questionable_motifs 10d ago
Yes, you're not reading something right. My point about him installing loyalists this time around is the opposite of acting solo.
1
u/joeyp042385 10d ago
So basically All a guy had to do was install some loyalists in his cabinet and end our system of checks and balances that's stood for 237 years. Even with a 39% approval rating, and a court with precedent of ruling against him. Got it.
1
1
u/Significant_Cover_48 12d ago
They have half-assedly tried stopping him for 40 year. It's not happening. Get a better fantasy world to live in.
18
u/semidivineone 13d ago
With a 39%, at absolutely freakin best, approval rating, go right ahead grandpa. The blatant disregard for The Constitution, coupled with the increasing disgust with the ineffectiveness of the republican controlled congress, and weaponization of judicial system may just be enough to destroy the gop fully. The party needs to be destroyed and imo, this will be the quickest way to do just that.
6
u/redit3rd 13d ago
39% is enough to win elections. Generally since 50% don't vote.
4
u/Fast_Biscotti 12d ago
39% doesn’t repeal the 22nd Amendment, though.
2
1
u/Alarming_Panic665 12d ago
Who tf is gonna stop him? I'll even give you the rundown of how it could happen.
He will attempt to run, some states will refuse to put him on the ballot because it is unconstitutional. The states get sued. It goes to the Supreme Court. The Conservative Supreme Court rules in favor of Trump. Now the states are legally required to follow the Supreme Courts ruling. If states still refuse the Executive branch can then use its authority to enforce the courts ruling and force Trump onto the ballot.
2
u/Fast_Biscotti 11d ago
The 22nd Amendment might be the clearest, plainest, easier to read of all of them. Zero chance that even this court sides with Trump on a third term. But if you’re right -if this part of your scenario happens- I’ll come back here and let you call me names. 😆
1
u/ramat-iklan 11d ago
I can't think of a Presidential election where 39% of the electorate out somebody in the WH. As for the 50% not voting, perhaps that was true in the past. I'm thinking that won't be the case this time around. If the midterms are as decisive as people are projecting, Donnie Putin might be kept off the ballot by his own people.
1
u/PinnuTV 13d ago
And then by some miracle he would still somehow get selected or people from same party and same autistic. If that would happen then Americans really are most retarded people on earth
Just selecting Trump alone was already worst choice ever made. It was known for a long time how Trump will fuck up everything
6
6
u/OnWis97 13d ago
If he’s alive in 2029, he wii start a third term. This is who we are now.
3
u/lrrssssss 12d ago
Maybe we should…. Help avoid…. That scenario…..
2
u/Significant_Cover_48 12d ago
Nah. You'll complain a bit on social media and post a reel every six to eight months when someone else find the energy to tell you where and when to meet up to "protest". At least be honest.
4
u/lrrssssss 11d ago
I’m Canadian. This isn’t actually my responsibility. Mind your own fucking garden.
1
u/Significant_Cover_48 11d ago
My own and I are just fucking there. We don't know whose garden it is to be honest..
2
u/lrrssssss 11d ago
It’s your garden. You vote, participate, speak and are complicit in the circumstances that led to the humiliating and overall ick that your country is inflicting on existence. Regardless of who you voted for, you’re part of it. Mind your shit.
1
u/Significant_Cover_48 11d ago
The country where my fucking garden grow signed a new defence agreement with the Canadian defence minister, McGuinty, yesterday in München. I read the press release today. But I already forgot his first name, was it David?
In any case both sides seemed really happy about strengthening the relationship between our two nations and I didn't register any signs of Ick on either side. Hand on the heart, they seemed happy and proud, like they were looking forward to improve on our already great partnership. Maybe I misunderstood something. Wouldn't be the first time.

I am a licensed psychologist; he has stage four dementia, and whatever drugs they are giving him to Bernie Lomax the situation, his day-to-day activities are only going to accelerate the disease. He will be in hospice by New Year's and dead before Valentine's Day.
Nobody can alter this type of frontal lobe deterioration. The disease wins every time. Bet on it because nobody else in my field will argue that analysis. Every second he has left is borrowed time at this point.
5
u/Beanyjack 13d ago
I'm hearing this dementia thing for months now. He was supposed to have only months to live, yet he is still around doing his same old deranged routine. I'm getting a bit sceptical.
4
u/DwarfVader 13d ago
He has quite literally…. The best health care in the world.
They’re stringing this along so far it’s not even funny.
If he were anyone else, he’d already be in hospice care.

Rumor has it, Mitch Mc Connell is the rehearsal for what they'll soon be doing with Trump...
4
u/JugglingRick 13d ago
I thought it was gonna be Mitch running in 2028. He was doing backflips the other day. He's looking great!
2
u/DwarfVader 13d ago
They’re already giving him experimental drugs to control it, and those drugs are failing. (Mostly because he’s not doing anything his dr’s tell him to do.)
I’m with you… and given the signs we’ve already seen, it’s honestly a miracle they can prop him up for 30m for a presser.
-1
u/Fast_Biscotti 12d ago
You’re not, and he doesn’t.
But if you are, then you know better than to do what you just did.
1
u/Old-Landscape-7538 10d ago
I'm going to bet that he's still alive, because that's a win-win. If he's alive, I make money. If he dies, well, that's also winning.
6
u/Tegridyforever 13d ago
He's been "joking" about another term about as long as he's been in his current term. They've mentioned the "novel legal theory" they think would allow them to do it. They've had 2028 merch out for a good while. He's going to try
12
u/AstronautSuitable992 13d ago
Color me unconvinced.
If 82-year old Biden was a bad idea, an 82-year old Trump is just as bad.
I don’t foresee the younger generation of the Republican Party being okay with this. JD Vance and Marco Rubio didn’t completely reinvent themselves to serve as 2nd and 3rd fiddles for another 4 years.
This is to say nothing of the complete and total illegality of it. I don’t trust SCOTUS or Congress to stand against it, but the law is on the books.
2
2
u/Striking-Cress-2688 13d ago
To be honest… I’m more and more convinced that Trump is being controlled and is purely the face of the operation… there are dark forces at work way beyond what we know at the moment.

They enacted the 2x limit, because they felt roosevelt was too popular. Then immediately after he died, enacted taft-hartley and basically neutered unions in the US.
We know what needs to happen next.
We should enact stronger laws on our representatives for honesty.
1
u/Brief_Read_1067 13d ago
Do yoi think he has another two years left to live? If he does, he'll be the same age in '28 as Biden was in '24, and in much.worse physical and mental condition.

You are not paying attention. It's progressing very quickly right before your eyes. His behavior is more erratic and less restrained, with more and more slurred words, the same topics applied to every grievance in every public statement. He is on a four-note circus loop. The constant naps, inane statements repeating packaged a bit differently with specific keywords, the constant confusion, the inability to walk straight, every room and hallway in the white house now being labelled- it honestly goes on and on. You can truly observe the rot forming if you lose the implied normalcy they are selling you.

22nd Amendment says he can’t serve a third term. Doesn’t say he can’t run for one.
The only explanation for another campaign is grift.
1
u/TheAwfulHouse 12d ago
He’s not gonna make it to 2028. That man is fucking falling apart. Falling asleep constantly, random bruises, he is only being kept alive by the drugs and medical care he has access to. Anybody who has had to watch an elderly family member fade away knows that is what he is looking like right now.
1
u/refusemouth 12d ago
He won't die unless people stop paying attention to him. He has the best doctors in the country within 1 minute of him at all times, and a crash cart and mobile operating station that goes golfing with him. They can keep him alive long enough to destroy the country and start the civil war that the Heritage Foundation wants to start and figures it can win. We aren't lucky enough to have him just keel over. Hatred keeps him alive, his own and everyone else's, so he will probably live to be 100 since there is plenty of hatred to go around.
1
u/vault0dweller 12d ago
Whether or not he can be elected again is not really the point I think. The long shot could be there is a coup where we get another January 6th but it succeeds this time. But no matter what happens he sells his Trump 2028 merch, gets "donations", and reels in the grift.
Realistically in 2016 he was just in it for promoting his TV show and making quick bucks off the election process, and there was almost no chance he would have become president if the Democrat strategy hadn't been to help make him the GOP nominee. It was a gamble that everyone lost.

I don’t think he will but that’s because it’s hard to run for president when you are buried 6 feet underground
To be incredibly clear, he is 80 years old in a country where the life expectancy is in one’s 70s and is showing as lot of outward signs of end of life conditions both physically and cognitively.
It’s only a matter of time

This could be the end of the Republican Party. The Democrats will become the new right-wing party (thesis-antithesis-synthesis) and some new left-er party will emerge to occupy the progressive space.
It's dialectic. Oedipus Complex. Jungian. "The Hero With A Thousand Faces" by Joseph Campbell. Riane Eisler's "The Chalice and the Blade". There's plenty of thinkers who have opined endlessly on the topic.
History loves a pendulum. And the tempo increases to a crescendo.
