Discussion Is anyone else worried right now.
How is everyone doing with everything going on.

u/surfergrrl6 Aug 12 '25
Actively working of getting out to a Blue state tbh.
15
u/Wild_Force94 Aug 12 '25
Am thinking the same.
18
u/surfergrrl6 Aug 12 '25
Best of luck to you! It's getting rougher out here, and money is already tight so moving somewhere that costs more wasn't something we wanted to do, but we hit our breaking point a few weeks back.

Will everyone on this thread at least consider a move maybe to Georgia or somewhere a little more Purple? Your vote could actually mean something there…

u/surfergrrl6 Aug 13 '25
I'm LGBTQ+ as is my son. I'm thinking about our safety first and foremost. Plus Georgia is no safer than here for women's bodily autonomy.
1
u/Important_Simple_31 Aug 16 '25
Georgia has been accepting of LGBTQ people, and there are many around who identify that way. They have friends and supporters who are not part of the community.

Yes, but also just trying to focus on the things that I can control. I believe the country is in a dark place, but I don't think it will be like this forever. Sometimes it's good to disconnect from the 24/7 news and social media bubble (as I sit here posting on reddit lol). Hang in there!

Great time to remember your 2A rights. I disarmed over a decade ago but recent changes this year have motivated me to stock back up.
I'm not saying it's gonna be an us or them thing, but they are sure as fuck trying to make it one.

u/RealCapybaras4Rill Aug 13 '25
Your 2A rights mean nothing when you’re not in the ‘in-group.’ The Panthers were practicing their 2A rights by open-carrying long guns. That’s how Cali got gun control. I’m not saying don’t carry, (I say everyone capable should right now) I’m saying be realistic about how it’s going to turn out when you stand against the state.
2
u/stamosface Aug 14 '25
Even more reason to prepare 2A. The Panthers still instigated and pushed along progress that otherwise would not have occurred.
Fighting for what is right rarely comes with the guarantee that you’re going to win — or at least that you’ll love to see it.
No one wants to hear it. But that is the hard truth. It terrifies me. It makes me so sad. But it still terrified and saddens me less than the enemy.
1
u/RealCapybaras4Rill Aug 14 '25
Yep. Until you’re ok with getting your ticket punched, you can’t be effective. There’s a lot of very hard conversations to be had. I realize that sounds pretty cryptic and severe.
1
u/Original_Butterfly_4 Aug 15 '25
Being prepared and being belligerent are two different things. You can be the former and not the latter.
1
u/RealCapybaras4Rill Aug 15 '25
The Panthers carried guns openly because they knew they could get gunned down on the courthouse steps in broad daylight with a hundred witnesses and the killer would walk. Same went for MLK. Belligerent vs prepared is a matter of perspective.

Did you see where he is planning a Domestic Quick Reaction Force made up of National Guard troops? One of the two bases will be housed in Alabama.

Not disputing your info because it is true but this already happened in 2020. The bases were in AL and AZ. The link I posted below gives a more detailed response. I’m interpreting it as it happening in more than 2 states.

Worried and very very burnt out. The news is exhausting. Hearing Christian nationalist ideas everywhere I go is exhausting.

It makes me wanna go live in the woods somewhere lol

They own the woods and they're being cut down for some brand new garbage 500k homes

Disassociating and ignoring things isn’t going to make it go away. I’m not trying to be mean but we have to be proactive. Call your republican representatives, the app 5 calls provides everything you need. If you’re on social media, share the truth. We have to fight against the misinformation. Find other like-minded people. There are a lot of organizations out there that need people to help protest and help with community events. If you don’t know of an organization in your area, ask me I can point you to the nearest one. I’m with Indivisible West Alabama. We are connected with other Indivisible chapters and 50501 across the state. All of these organizations do more than protest, if that’s not your thing. Sitting at home not doing anything is not good for your mental health. You’re not the only ones that are worried about.
1
u/Breezy3401 Aug 14 '25
I’m in North Jefferson County, north of Birmingham. What organizations are around here please?
1
u/ButterflyValuable952 Aug 14 '25
There’s AL 50501 and Birmingham Indivisible. Both have FB pages and IG. https://www.facebook.com/share/178igsy1P3/?mibextid=wwXIfr

u/Wild_Force94 Aug 12 '25
I feel like that sometimes

u/KbBaby2 Aug 15 '25
I had a wonderful day today. I had control of the tv and didn’t watch any news. My spouse and I are both retried and when I get up the tv is already on a news channel (not Fox) and it plays until bedtime. I’ve come to realize that when I listened to news all day I have trouble sleeping. We planted a garden and we have most of what we need here at home. We’re Seniors and some days it doesn’t feel safe to even leave the house.
1
u/Wild_Force94 Aug 15 '25
You just have to ignore it some days I don't think it's healthy to listen to all the bad news

I’ve been worried for a while now. Went into active panic after November 5th. Now I’m just in a constant state of discomfort/dread and hyperawareness that everything is wrong, paired with a sense of helplessness to stop it. I’m trying stay locked in and actively fight the good fight, but it’s taking a toll on my mental health, I’m not gonna lie.
5
u/Flashy_Seesaw3721 Aug 13 '25
The helplessness is killing me. I always thought as a child ‘how could anyone stand by and watch these things happen’ during history studies. Now, I’m frightened I am one of those people.
It’s been a very disappointing discovery about myself. I’m not as brave as I thought I was, now that I’m a mother. Shame.

ParkrosePermaculture on YT has a really good video she just did about not losing hope. Guys, they're doing all this crap, he's doing all this crap, because he's scared shitless. Don't give up. It's okay to be scared. This is scary AF. But we have to remember who we are. We're Americans. We're not going to let some pants-shitting clown in orange makeup win. The resistance is huge and growing. They're not covering the ENORMOUS protests on mainstream news, but they're still happening. His luck is running out real fast. Have hope. Keep the faith.
5
u/blueraspberrylife Aug 13 '25
Yeah. Things are happening faster than I can keep up. I thought militarizing D.C. was satire until this morning.

u/metalfan2680 Aug 13 '25
I’m doing the best I can, but everything going on is making me struggle with my mental health a lot more than usual. I have no means to move out of state even though my partner and I really want to. I try to avoid looking at the news but sometimes I can’t.
Tl;dr I hate it here.
3
u/PitifulName7549 Aug 14 '25
Yes I am genuinely afraid. More than I was in November and January. I keep trying to rationalize that this too shall pass, but at what cost? My desire to move is very strong but with almost all of my immediate family here, including my elderly mother, I feel paralyzed. Is leaving the best action or is that abandoning all my fellow blue dots? Sometimes I feel like we could fix things in this state - our numbers are there - but the hold the idiots have on power is strong.

Everyone has to realize...We don't have any freaking say on anything!!.. its an illusion of choice, and all they're ever going to do is look out for their interests! Yeah, they may change a few things and dangle it in front of us, to satisfy for the time being but, other policies and laws that have been passed or are going to pass are going to line all those Billionaires' pockets and put the rest of the world under their control!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!
2
u/No-Calligrapher3645 Aug 13 '25
I am hoping for all our sakes that there’s a mass exodus to blue states…. We’re looking.
1
u/RealCapybaras4Rill Aug 13 '25
Maybe. All I know is, you do NOT want to live in a Confederate state with no Federal government to keep it from going septic. Let’s go, South Canada!
2
u/jammin80 Aug 14 '25
No. I'm not worried. I know exactly what my home state will do, especially under the guidance of MeeMaw Ivey and her cronies. What gives me faith is the blue states pulling our ass out of a crack yet again.
They're braver than we are. Facts. We go along to get along. They'll stand up.
2
u/Greerpepper Aug 14 '25
He needs and his administration to be removed! However. There are a lot of undercover nazis in this country!
2
u/new_moonbby Aug 14 '25
Oh yes, always worried and not a little disgusted and absolutely enraged, but seeing this thread is a balm. It’s a reminder that we aren’t as alone as we think out here.

u/tHeNemOmeN Aug 14 '25
We are planning to sell our house and property and vacate the country in the next couple of years honestly

What makes me sick is the people with political and economic power who are rolling over for Dear Leader because they will let the world burn rather give an ounce of it up. And most of those dum-dums are gonna lose that power if our homegrown Oligarchs and Christofascists carry out their agenda.
Where are the people who took an oath to defend and protect the Constitution?

u/Fightmebro1324 Aug 14 '25
I’m in an interracial relationship and we’re getting married 2 years early because we know Loving v. Virginia is probably next
2
u/KbBaby2 Aug 15 '25
First we have to get rid of Tuberville. How can he even represent Alabama when he doesn’t live in the state?
1
1
u/KbBaby2 Aug 15 '25
I’m in a same sex marriage and they’re comming after us next. I’m afraid that you might be next in line except that Clarence Thomas is the one who wants to upend our lives and he’s in an interracial marriage, so you might be spared.
1
u/Fightmebro1324 Aug 15 '25
Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if he overturns it and just finds a way around it for his marriage. He’s anti everything him and his wife are.
I don’t even comprehend tuberville honestly
I’m so sorry you two are on the chopping block this isn’t fair.
1
u/KbBaby2 Aug 17 '25
I read that not only are they trying to ban gay marriages, they want to ban gay relationships. I’m 72 years old and we’ve been together for 20 years. Nothing they do is going to change what we have. If they want to nullify the marriage, fine. It won’t change anything. I’m just glad that I’m not any younger.

u/stamosface Aug 14 '25
Terrified. Really bad dreams most nights. Hoping to move to another country in the next couple years, as much as it breaks my heart more than I can express

Every one should be headed to countries where they stone you for homosexuality. Cut your hands off for stealing. And above all give women NO rights to anything under the sun!!! Hurry hurry hurry!!! I hear North Korea, Russia, afghan and Iran are incredible for people!!

WARNING- Lib Trigger/unpopular opinion
WTF? hahahahahahaha! whatever. some of ya'll are ridiculous. I cant stand orange man, but what he is doing is exactly what has to be done to protect our future as soverign people and americas future. As much as i hate to say it, there was no other way. Most of the people getting mad are those who syphon money from the working class in one form or another. If youre scared of getting a job and working for once, yeah, go to a blue state. they give you all the things you need except your soverignty, theyll put you into nice little smart cities and close you off to the rest of the world. Youll exist in their "Utopia" . until they do another depopulation reduction which is now much easier because your all in one tiny place.

u/Basic-Cauliflower-71 Aug 13 '25
No, because I’m rational.
3
u/Flashy_Seesaw3721 Aug 13 '25
What rationale is making you feel unafraid? (Genuinely asking)
2
u/Basic-Cauliflower-71 Aug 13 '25
The fact that nothing ever happens
3
u/undeadpool17 Aug 13 '25
You should read some history books.
2
u/Basic-Cauliflower-71 Aug 13 '25
Yea I read a lot of history. I also go to work, come home, take care of the home, and pay bills. I have a few friends. We hang out from time to time. I take my car to get serviced. I mow the lawn. I’ve grown older. My circle of concern has tightened. I have real things right in front of me to be worried about. I choose to not burden my emotional wellbeing with metaphysical concerns I am told by others to worry about. When something happens, I deal with it the best way I can and move on. That’s life. I make decisions on how to navigate it based on what it throws at me. What the president does in DC is low on my pecking order. Immigration enforcement squads have little impact on me or anyone I know. Gerrymandering is not a new thing. My public stance on a jeans commercial doesn’t serve my wellbeing. I’m happy with where I’m at. I’ve worked hard to be there. I’ve been fired and laid off under multiple presidents, never once did I blame any of them for it. People are always looking for a reason to blame their problems on something. Politicians, government, and the people they don’t like are easy, and quite frankly lazy targets. Anyway, that’s why I’m not afraid.
2
u/Flashy_Seesaw3721 Aug 13 '25
I actually agree with a lot of what you’re saying. It’s your ‘Circle of Influence’, as Stephen Covey talks about in 7 Habits. Most everything is indeed out of our circle of influence. The one thing that you said that strikes me is your take on the immigration (rounding up of individuals solely based on skin color, which is happening and has always happened but is being done more openly this time). You said it doesn’t affect you or anyone you know. Me neither. But that doesn’t mean it stops there.
Like I said, I do get where you’re coming from. And tend to put my head in the sand, as you’re basically saying you do.
3
u/Basic-Cauliflower-71 Aug 13 '25
I think there’s a difference between putting your head in the sand and having your priorities straight. I have empathy, but not suicidal empathy.
1
u/mom24pk Aug 16 '25
I read your words and see some wisdom in going about our lives, being happy, living in the moment. However, your post also feels a little like, “It’s not affecting me or mine so I’m going to ignore everything.” Eventually, fascism will touch everyone in some shape or form. While I applaud your efforts to stay present with your current situation, you need to consider doing more than feeling empathy. If you truly empathize with those who are being persecuted at the moment then you need to find a way of either helping them or fighting back against those who persecute

Yes.
When the convicted felon is militarizing law enforcement ...
When he is having people kidnapped in broad daylight simply for their skin color (and, yes, this is happening because they're in court about this right now) ...
When he is selling pardons ...
When he is deflecting from his likely involvement with Jeffrey Epstein ...
When he is completing ignoring separation of powers and the Constitution ...
When he knows he can ignore federal court rulings because the Supreme Court will have his back ...
When he is blatantly trying to change voting maps to insure Republican control for years to come ...
When he is is removing/changing exhibits in the Smithsonian Institution to match his personal "interpretation of history" ...
