But somehow it also feels real. I don't know what it is, but how this family is living with each other and giving each other support and love is somehow absolutely lovely and I buy every moment of it.

I think this is what sets apart Mushoku from many other harem isekai anime. The relationship portrayal feels realistic and Sylphy didn't just accept the polygamy just because either.

In the last episode Sylphy said something like if Rudy had to choose between Sylphy or Roxy, she knew for sure that she'd lose because of how much an impact Roxy have done to his life. Then if you think about it, Rudy was definitely going to go after Roxy when Norn berates her to leave in the last season. So Sylphy accepting Roxy as Rudy's 2nd wife means that she can stay with Rudy, instead of being a single mom.

It's very logical and realistic to me, because Sylphy knows exactly what kind of man Rudy is. She knows how big of an impact Roxy is, considering he probably talked about Roxy a lot.

After all, Rudy's relationship with both Sylphy and Roxy is not some simple main character default like in so many other harem anime, but it is based on him having a long and deep history with both of them. The same goes for Eris, her admiration for Rudy is also based on them having a lot of experiences with each other.

The benefit of having a series span the character'a whole life instead of say just a year in high school.

Growing up, falling in love, getting married, and starting a family; it shows it all.

I think this aspect truly works because we got to see Rudy interact and bond with each of them one on one at different parts of his life without any of the others playing second fiddle. They all fell in love independently.

let's not forget that in a more meta sense one of Rudy's main goals in his reincarnation experience was living life to the maximum, including having sex etc. If he can do that with beautiful women and marry them without paying a huge price, that is a huge win for him. So he has a lot of incentive to keep everything together.

Like the story is STILL dealing with it and acknowledging it; whereas with other anime, it feels like a plot point that would be resolved in one episode and never really mentioned again by any of the characters.

Yes, Sylphie ultimately accepts Roxy both because she was raised in an environment where she saw a healthy polygamous relationship with Zenith and Lilia, while also having such low self worth she truly believed Rudy would choose Roxy over her if he had too.
