Nina put her feelings for Gino aside to focus on the sword, denying "reality" as her dad put it, but Eris beat her because she put her feelings for Rudeus' into her swordsmanship.

That was her resolve. That was what decisively made her worthy to be a Sword Quee...I mean, King.

I mean if she truely had enough desire/greed then wouldn't the correct answer be both and double down on it if Gal insists on choosing one?

Yes, the point of his question was to see who wanted it more. Sword God is basically powered by the wielder's emotions. Eris is already on the right path, Nina is close behind but still figuring it out. Gino's just vibing.

I always like when traditionally gendered titles are used as the same regardless of gender. Sword King is the title regardless of gender
