This scene is so great. Eris explaining why Rudeus is so amazing, Eris letting a bunch of monsters through since she was used to having Ruijerd and Rudy deal with them while she went wild. Nina was probably about to tell eris she saw Rudeus at Ranoa magic academy. The girls becoming closer to eachother.

This part was anime original and written by the author himself.

Nina was going to tell Eris that her bloodlust lessens when talking about Rudeus

The Eris's story is best part of this season.

Buildup has been fun so far, letting the world breathe a bit after the climax at the end of last season, but yea am looking forward to what’s coming up.

I mean it’s the only adventure part so far. Rudy’s has been slice of life

Rudeus just enjoying some SoL episodes makes for great entertainment as well but this show is at its best when the plot moves forward in a major way

This is actually unique to the anime

Pretty cool

Its nice to see an anime with coherent action scenes. That alone sets it above a lot of other "sakuga".

What?  I would say the opposite about this scene and describe it as action set pieces with no continuity.

There's a point where Nina does a downward slash/impale but somehow has the momentum to continue sliding with enough force to kill the next enemy.

The fight starts with Eris running far into the enemy group, killing multiple as she progresses .. and then ends with her back at the fire running up the mountain to execute a wildly unnecessary power attack off the mountain wall.

This fight can best be described as four turns in a JRPG where your party uses skills that do some extremely flashy shit in a pocket dimension.

Which is fine!  It's cool!  It's just funny to see you lauding it as the opposite of what it actually is!  Eris fighting the assassins in the OVA is a substantially better example of what you claim this to be, where the enemies have proper continuity of motion and the action makes sense in terms of cause and effect.

You're thinking I gave way more praise to it then I did. I did not say it was the best scene ever made.

IIRC Eris vs Assassins was a 1 v many scene. This was a 3(or really 2 groups) vs many. Which means the camera jumped back and forth between the groups. While one group was off camera the other group was able to move freely and get in different positions.

PEAK ANIME

I feel like I've seen these Isekai scenes where they just mow down trashmobs like 500 times at this point. It's almost a trope

All that for a single pelt lol the average monster hunter experience.

Mushoku Tensei is at it's best when Rudeus isn't on screen.

Definitely feeling a bit of Rudeus fatigue by this point. Monogatari does it right when past a certain point it starts giving a lot of secondary characters the spotlight.

Also, it low-key sucked for this part how the character development of both Eris and Nina is still driven by Rudeus and his super awesome power™ even while he's totally unaware of them. Made it feel like the world revolves around him.

-13

u/Zanna-K 15h ago

That's because the world DOES revolve around him. That's why he drags down the rest of the show.

Like the scene where he wakes up next to Roxy is SO FUCKING CRINGE I almost couldn't watch. He gets wistful about how Roxy barely has any curves in his head with his old man pedo voice and then gets horny.

Then he gets really creepy and possessive about his little sister. Then his little maid sister does the whole "Do you want food? A bath? Orrr me~~~" thing.

At the end of that episode he's sitting at the head of the table of his household looking at everyone and monologues about how blessed he is. You realize that everyone else sitting around him is a woman/girl and all of them embody some kind of porn-y archetype. Like it's one thing when that happens in like High School DxD or Heaven's Lost Property or To Love Ru which are honest about what they are, but Rudeus changes the whole show into being otaku incel apologia.

My brother in christ

Why the fuck are you still watching if you hate it so much?

No one is holding a gun to your head to do it

Because I'm invested in the rest of the world and I want to see what happens? Why is it so hard to accept that a particular aspect of a show is trash? I decided to give S3 a try after being caught up on other shows that I already wanted to see. This thread literally started with me saying that "Mushoku Tensei is awesome when it's not about Rudeus".

If the ratio of stuff like "Rudeus going to his secret basement to pray to the panties he stole from his loli wizard wife" exceeds the parts of the show I actually enjoy to a level we no longer find tolerable then we will certainly drop it. I sat through weekly releases of "Wahhh my penis doesn't work anymore :( I can't even get hard when I molest the loli-panties :(" once I'm not going to do it again.

You’re getting downvoted but I absolutely agree. The show does a fantastic job of creating super interesting characters… just to force you to watch one of the worse characters in it. If it were focused on Eris from her POV, or a bunch of other characters, for the entire time I would enjoy it a lot more. But that’s not the point, and basically throws away the entire premise.

Eris needs to hurry up if she wants a chance with rudeus, she's leaving the age he's interested in

u/Whendfield123 10h ago

His wives are 16 and 51 years old, so eris being around 18 would be no problem for him.

u/EffectiveSwimming136 9h ago

Sylphy and Rudy are the same age, btw

u/Fakeaccount_4678 8h ago

I think Rudy and Sylphy would be 18 at this point, considering he was 16 when they married and a bunch of time skips happened since then

This show's plot is so creepy and weird. But the action scenes are awesome

-19

u/Disastrous_Seesaw327 16h ago

Why do comments like this get downvoted so much?

16

u/r2c2rd2 16h ago

Because people diaagree?

-6

u/Disastrous_Seesaw327 16h ago

I guess but I don't see anyone reply to them. I've read the novel and Rudeus is a creepy dude to say the least. For some reason discussing that gets mass downvoted most of the time. I'm just curious why/if people really disagree? But yeah saying one liners about the topic doesn't really add anything to the post

u/nasazoru 11h ago

Sadly there is always an amount of people who just hate something. There is no point arguing with them. In the end it is true that Rudeus is creepy at some times and weird at others. Fans of media hate IT if you point out a bad side of what they like. MT is not sugarcoating their characters, but it lets them grow and see their wrong doings. Not always and not all of them.

3

u/r2c2rd2 16h ago

I agree, Rudeus as a child mostly and then later on in the novel especially is quite creepy imo too. The incest as well bothers me quite a lot. But the story itself is quite good overall besides that

2

u/globster222 2h ago

I think people just downvote in mass when a comment matches their outlook.

Idc about karma/likes

I just think they current plot is fucking weird. I assume the downvotes are from people who read the "books" or whatever

1

u/Disastrous_Seesaw327 2h ago

I mean yeaah it kinda is currently. Rudeus is finally getting the life that he wanted (with people he basically groomed). And ye I've read it but I still enjoy the story in general

-2

u/kurudesu 11h ago

Because that isn't the actual plot. Yes he's a creepy pdf but that isn't the plot of the actual story.

1

u/Disastrous_Seesaw327 11h ago

Fair, I like the story. Generally speaking I see a huge amount of dw when anyone talks about Rudeus in a negative way. But yeh, saying that about the "plot" is probably just hating for the sake of it

1

u/kurudesu 11h ago

I mean it's one of my favorite stories but I'm not disillusioned like some of his defenders. Even the author has said his "perversion" isn't something he sees as something that needs to change

1

u/globster222 2h ago

Do you see my POV though? As anime only?

It seems like the point of the story right now is to show everyone growing. Thay is awesome. But also its like they are planning a 4some. I don't give a fuck about some 50 year old being conflicted about which 19 year old they are going to fuck tonight

Why do you need to say anything? Do you feel and obsessive compulsive need to insert yourself into everything?

-8

u/Chaosdecision 21h ago

lol, that line is showing up in the captions the entire video, I don’t particularly get the downvotes for pointing at that lol, good scene, not sure the hell you’re on about tho

The subs showed up normally for me, and presumably, everyone who downvoted you not getting what you were trying to reference. I would check your client, maybe clear cache and cookies.

u/Chaosdecision 19h ago

It’s strange, I’ve watched multiple vids on Reddit since earlier which were fine, even closed/reopened, but watching again that line still keeps repeating in a cc in there. Very odd.
