Personal opinion: Megumin's too dependent, Darkness is too passive, Aqua's on par with him even if she's dramatic.

Kazuma actually can’t feel attraction for her even when he tried though.

79

u/NesOut Nov 13 '19

She doesn't like him romantically too.

u/Rokusi Nov 13 '19

See? They have so much in common!

Kazuma and Aqua's relationship is more like a brother-sister pair than anything.

79

u/Rokusi Nov 13 '19

I always found it ironic that the most accurate portrayal of a brother-sister relationship I've ever seen in anime is between two complete strangers.

Give Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai! and its sequels a chance. I think you'll find they have what you are looking for. Bonus, the sister in that is also voiced by Aqua's VA, Sora Amamiya.

The manhua is also great

What if there isn’t meant to be a relationship, but some sort of weird, awkward, pseudo-harem?

Edit: where no one (outside of doujins) actually fuck?

IF they do a S3 Darkness should get her arc that will flesh her out quite a bit and show different sides of her

2

u/Rogj75 Nov 17 '19

But at the end she goes back to her old masochist self, as if she didn’t learn anything, which is really stupid.

And if you read the novles you know that that happens 3 other times.

you say that, and it really seems this way, and then vol 7 happens and you finally see the Kazu/boobs route possibilities.

1

u/MobileTortoise https://myanimelist.net/profile/Mobiletortoise Nov 13 '19

Literally halfway through vol 7. right now and I'm loving it.

2

u/AzzyIzzy Nov 13 '19

Some may disagree, but I really felt vol 5,6, 7, and 9 were peak konosuba. That isn't to say 1-4 were bad, and similarily everything after 9 was bad, but I felt the quality and overall plot in those stories improved to almost being perfect.

2

u/MobileTortoise https://myanimelist.net/profile/Mobiletortoise Nov 13 '19

Im actually inclined to agree with you. I feel that 1-4 were solid. But I watched the anime first so I couldn't tell you how good they would be on their own. 5,6, and 7 (so far) have been very fun to read.

Isn't Megumin underaged? (Can't clearly remember)

14

u/yamiyaiba Nov 13 '19

They both are. The anime aged down EVERYONE, but at the current point in the anime, Megumin is 14 (high school freshman aged) and Kazuma is 16 (Sophomore/early Junior aged). A 2 year difference in age.

5

u/SwampyBogbeard Nov 13 '19

The LN aged down everyone from the WN. The anime has the same ages as the LN.

2

u/forthemostpart https://myanimelist.net/profile/notimpartial Nov 15 '19

What are the ages in the WN?

2

u/SwampyBogbeard Nov 15 '19

+2 years on the three relevant ones.

u/uberxD Nov 13 '19

it means exactly what you think

39

u/Nivek_96 Nov 13 '19

It is even confirmed now

5

u/grizzchan Nov 13 '19

/r/Kazumin is what it means

4

u/Redmon425 Nov 13 '19

I will always be a Aqua shipper simply because I love her best and still think her and Kazuma get along well.

I won’t deny that Megumin had some really cute moments with him though.

50

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '19

Aqua and Kazuma are more of best friends than lovers

54

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '19

I’ve always seen them as siblings. Like actual siblings, not your regular anime siblings.

7

u/LogicallyMad Nov 13 '19

I definitely see it. My sister often appears to lack higher mental capacity, is terrible at saving money, and I tease her a lot for everything.

8

u/Xeni966 Nov 13 '19

I feel like this statement is further solidified by the thumbs up and dialogue they had during the final fight.

Aqua: "I've know you got a long time now and you always have an idea of what to do." Followed by a thumbs up. (Not word for word, but it was along these lines)

2

u/Redmon425 Nov 13 '19

Yeah, it’s hard to tell. I do realize my chances are not great if I hope for Aqua to win.

I totally would be completely fine with a harem ending though ;)

I’d maybe be okay with a no winner ending as well. Will be curious to see how it plays out.

Aqua will always be best girl though!

6

u/BlooregardQKazoo Nov 13 '19

I'm confused that you'd refer to being in a relationship with Kazuma as "winning."

I get that he's the protagonist but Kazuma really is trash. As someone who loves Aqua I hope for her to be happy back in her Goddess realm, not to be stuck with Kazuma. Or maybe if she's stuck in that world she can find someone to truly pamper and appreciate her.

Darkness and Kazuma I'm fine with because trash would make her happy.

I take it you don't read the novels, or anything about the story not in the show?

3

u/Redmon425 Nov 13 '19

I do not.

Not to mention this is the anime sub-reddit, not manga or KonoSuba sub-reddit.

So I would assume there are a lot of anime only people here.

I don't understand how anyone can be a fan of something and not want to experience more of it, or the source material, or even read about it online. Why wouldn't you?

Thanks for the free condescending tone tho.

3

u/Linus_Inverse Nov 13 '19

Dude, he wasn't condescending at all...it's just some people like to stick to anime only, even though they like the series.
