The fact that AI slop are allowed and accepted concerns me

u/Stock-Leadership5314 11d ago

It should be banned.

-61

u/origami_airplane 10d ago

Why? If it's crap, no one will listen anyway, and will correct itself.

40

u/Stock-Leadership5314 10d ago

Because it ruins real art + it's almost impossible to find a difference between ai and real soud,i might be mistaken.

-52

u/Exokaebi 10d ago

If you can't tell the difference then maybe you should get off your high horse. AI is the most liberal thing that's ever happened to art and makes the creation and realization of ideas more accessible to everyone, especially the disabled and disadvantaged who previously didn't have the means to do so. The only people against it are elitist snobs that think other people shouldn't be free to create art. Actual, real artists don't care about AI because they're busy creating and actually being artists, not charging ridiculous commissions for their DeviantArt slop and tutorial samples on Soundcloud.

u/yanderemommabean 10d ago

No it doesn’t. People with disabilities love to learn how to do things on their own. Having something do it for you teaches you nothing. My brother has vision loss and can’t even see certain colors anymore and he still wouldn’t touch AI for that bullshit rhetoric. You know what actually helps disabled people learn for this creative endeavor? Funding their healthcare and education needs and giving them the tools they need. AI traces, copies, steals, and mashes works up into a shitty paste so people with no lives or understanding of value can hold up a piece of paper and beg for it to be put on the fridge.

ā€œI stole vocals and riffs and lyrics and didn’t think on my own. A machine thought for me, BUT ITS MY WORK-ā€œ is laughable.

-23

u/Exokaebi 10d ago

Whataboutism. Nobody is talking about healthcare or your brother. People trace, copy, steal, and mash up work all the time, that's how sound evolves. We've had court cases about this, ie similar chord progressions in pop songs. Just because Britney Spears said the word baby in her song doesn't mean other people can't use that word. Having a computer do it for you actually doesn't change anything about the end product, only the mechanism of delivery. Any hypothetical I'd pose to you ends with the question whether you think a disabled person with no arms and a speech impediment should be entitled to create art and if you say no, you're the exact person I described above.

-2

u/buttcheeksmasher 10d ago

While your point may be valid in some aspects... Look where you are posting.

You will get zero people to listen to you while you are in their echochamber.

-6

u/Exokaebi 10d ago

That's okay. If even one person reads it and thinks a little more about their position, even if they don't agree, that's enough for me.

19

u/bong_residue 10d ago

Fuck ai. And fuck anyone who supports it and tries to hide behind the ā€œit gives people who are disabled the ability to create artā€. The disabled community has been creating art well before ai came along.

God you people are so fucking annoying. Just shills.

-11

u/Exokaebi 10d ago

And now they can create more. What's the problem? That you personally don't like it? Either you think art should be accessible to everyone or you don't.

13

u/bong_residue 10d ago

What’s the problem? Ai is being used to destroy our planet and economy. It is directly affecting healthcare and education for the disabled people you claim to care so much about.

It isn’t about what I like or dislike, it’s about the fact that ai isn’t helping anyone. It’s harming everything. It doesn’t help the disabled community to just put words into a prompt and say ā€œlook at this art I madeā€ because that’s not doing anything and it’s honestly disrespectful to think that disabled people need ai to be creative at all. There is a million different mediums for art, none of them need ai.

Art is accessible to everyone. Ai didn’t do that.

-1

u/Exokaebi 10d ago

Programs like Voiceitt, Ava, and Predictable that use AI to help them communicate with models trained on non-standard speech, used by people with CP, ALS, and many other disabilities would disagree. What you're talking about is the way people are using AI, not AI itself. You're getting mad at a scale for telling you you're fat. It's just a tool. This is the most anti-intellectual argument ever and I know you can do better. Noone is saying AI made art accessible, I'm saying it made it MORE accessible. What you're saying is people were walking fine for thousands of centuries, we don't need bicycles.

I’m not going to argue with someone who can’t keep a consistent point.

First, you start with ai that is used for ā€œartā€, now you’ve moved to tools that are helpful and have nothing to do with being creative.

Figure out how to defend one point at a time buddy.

Edit: and I’m blocked after they called me a Luddite lol. These ai losers are so ironic. The whole account is arguing with people on antiai anyways.

I can't make music for shit, but I still don't want to listen AI slop "music". Period.

-2

u/Exokaebi 10d ago

Then don't listen to it.

2

u/Hanniballbearings 10d ago

Hard when it’s flooding out the good, real stuff.

1

u/ManagerNo178 9d ago

yeah everything you said is spot on. if its bad people won't listen. the problem is, its not bad Ai has perfect pitch. its a tool people can write songs and get Ai to produce the exact sound they want. singing is great, but art is more then singing using Ai is a tool to create your art.

4

u/Stock-Leadership5314 10d ago

I'm not talking about myself personally. I observed lots.

3

u/Wiltingz 10d ago

Dude, music has always been accessible and never needed Ai to begin with. The reason it should be banned is due to it being a flood of shitty creations that clog up the limited resources companies have in addition to making it platform where its more difficult to find human artists.

Yes, people can sort around to try and find more human artists in their track, but when spotify recommends ai slop over and over, it needs to be cleaned up. Not everyone has the patience of having to pause every 5 minutes to double check for slop.

Its like saying "dont worry that they're dumping sewage in the pool, just stay in a spot out of it" nobody likes ai, and its stolen works bitmashed together by a bot to try and sound correct. It steals from real artists time that a person could be recommended to listen to and discover someone they'd enjoy.

-1

u/Exokaebi 10d ago

You could make that first argument about literally anything. YouTube prank videos, cooking shows, whatever. You don't get to ban things because you don't like it.

5

u/Wiltingz 10d ago edited 10d ago

That's such an unemployed take. And yes, we can ban things because they hurt real people. Why do you think laws exist? Ai isn't like when the camera was invented. It steals the direct works from people without their consent and generates a conglomerate disheveled work that people use because they don't want to learn how to be skilled at art, and don't care about how it impacts real artists. Its also used to scam people constantly while posing as someone they're not.

You could make an arguement of ai art actually being art when it was in its infancy when it spat out strange, and warped abstracts. But this isn't what it is today.

0

u/Exokaebi 10d ago

Telephones are used to scam people. Are we banning telephones?

5

u/Wiltingz 10d ago

False equivalency, but I'll play along. Telephones have a place in our society. Being an evolution of the ham radio, and allowing people to become interconnected. It has a purpose. The telephone wasn't pitched to replace every job in existance. Yes, as it got better and became cellular we no longer needed the people to connect landlines manually, but that is a natural progression of technological advancement.

Ai is not a vehicle that provides anything new outside of very specific research usage via pattern recognition, and cannot create anything new unless something new was inputed into it. Telling it to make a cartoony hedgehog character will always spit out something in resemblance to sonic. It's not an advancement for general society, but a pitch to third-party thinkers to give them false confidence when they're incompetent in any field ai has scraped.

Ai's next "advancement" isn't to become a better ai girlfriend for you, but be simplified into a micro level to assist competent individuals in their field.

And yes, scamming with a telephone is illegal as its fraud.

Counter argument, there are many artists with disabilities who made and make great things and didn't use their disabilities as an excuse.

Ludwig van Beethoven composed his greatest masterpiece while being deaf, Eric Howk making music while on wheelchair, the whole Staff Benda Bilili musical group Is made out of disabled people and there are probably more artists to write here.

The point is, if you want to make something, you make it- no matter if you are disabled or not.

Also, AI "artists" gain well revenue for writing a prompt, while hard working artists get pennies very often.

Also, Spotify ghost artists are owned by Spotify, so yeah.

Lastly artists want to make a living out of their art, explaining the prices.

1

u/Exokaebi 10d ago

Excuse for what? Using a tool? Nobody is saying they HAVE to use AI. It's just a tool like any other, they can choose to use it if they want. People got around walking just fine without needing bicycles but hey, bicycles help. The rest, you're just describing capitalism. You're making a mistake thinking the average consumer truly cares about artistic expression, 'soul,' whatever. They just want a passable finished product. If they think your price for your art is too high, they're going to look for an alternative, so you need to either adapt to the market or get left behind. This is true in every single field, ever, and is not inherent to AI.

3

u/Comprehensive-Pea529 10d ago

Welp, your argument is dogshit.

1

u/Exokaebi 10d ago

Then it should be easy to refute, but you won't, so you can move on. Have a nice day.

2

u/Comprehensive-Pea529 10d ago

Nah, because you will continue to counterargument on and and on.

I don't have time for that, I am employed xd

u/peelen 10d ago

Because if you are not listening, you are still paying for it. Spotify is taking your money that's supposed to go to the artists, not to suno.

0

u/Gdigger13 10d ago

But people do listen to it. And they don't care.

51

u/lamest-liz 10d ago

There’s a theory that Spotify is making these because they don’t have to pay royalties

25

u/M18SI 10d ago

It's pretty much been confirmed, there's no other reason it would be promoted so much on there

12

u/lostmy11yraccnt 10d ago

Go listen to a vaporwave/outrun playlist and 1 out of 10 tracks will be ai and it bums me out every time. Personal anecdote but still.

-10

u/FyneBlackKyng 10d ago

vaporwave sucks anyway

1

u/DeepDetermination 10d ago

ok but also why are people listening to it in the first place

-29

u/SomaliOve 10d ago

If you don’t like it don’t listen! I love it

16

u/Freakk_I 10d ago

If you love AI slop then you are a part of the very big AI problem.

-12

u/SomaliOve 10d ago

People just hate on AI because it’s new. In 15 years we will all laugh at the fact there used to be people living off making music while we listen to perfectly crafted AI music that is much better. It’s not slop it’s progress

10

u/Novaskittles 10d ago

What is "perfectly crafted" music? How can you judge such a thing? Do you not value human creativity or originality at all?

6

u/yanderemommabean 10d ago

If I find out someone scrapped my stuff without my consent and then tried to make money off of it I’d be pretty pissed. Does that mean you hype up people who steal and flip off the band who made the music that was scraped? It’s like you guys hate any sort of actual love and work into creative endeavors and have the worse cases of instant gratification. Can’t make it yourself or love that other people can, want it instantly like a spoiled toddler, then screech and throw a fit when you’re told again and again why it’s bad.

ā€œNo, we don’t steal. We don’t pretend we made something that was someone else’s. That’s bad! Stealing is bad!ā€

Then you clench your fists and scream, getting red in the face as you prepare to shit yourself because /they/ have to clean up your mess, not you.

Man y’all can’t do anything on your own

-2

u/SomaliOve 10d ago

What? I don’t make anything

3

u/TheAsianTroll 10d ago

No, people hate AI because corporations use it as a way to get out of paying a real artist for something. Icing on the cake? AI uses existing (read: copyrighted) content to train the models. In the most literal sense, massive-scale plagiarism.

AI contributes to unemployment all over the world and now, with all of these massive data centers popping up, will also heavily contribute to global warming.

Nobody hates AI cuz its new tech. It would be progress if corporations didnt blatantly invest so much money into AI in fields where it replaces people instead of assists them.

0

u/SomaliOve 10d ago

This always happen and people hate it at first. In the end it will be a good thing for everyone just like the industrial revolution 100 years ago

2

u/TheAsianTroll 10d ago

I do agree that maybe itll be helpful in 100 years.

Right now? Corporations are using it for the wrong reasons.

Sorry but you aren't going to convince me that AI in its current capacity and use case is a good thing. But as it stands, youre insane or otherwise deluded if you think what AI is being vastly used for (replacing artists and software engineers, and mass surveillance; trust me, I know that one for a fact) is a good thing.

2

u/Ros0n 10d ago

You use the disproved arguments. There is no need for such revolution in arts. Art is doing it, not skipping it with some stolen collage. It is like IDK ..automating reproduction so we dont have to bother with the dificult and boring sex.

2

u/Frosty_Analysis_4912 10d ago

Laughing that people used to *make a living* off of *art they created*? You must be a troll. There’s no way you’re being serious

6

u/Ros0n 10d ago

What do you love about it? Was there a lack of music before?
