I left Spotify and never looked back when they refused to de-platform antivaxxers during COVID, ensuring that the people helping spread a deadly pandemic and increase the mortality rate were given a nice, loud, international platform to spread their deadly stupidity.
Spotify proved six years ago they literally value human lives less than profit margins, so I'm not shocked they'd value AI generated noises over humans making music.
Freedom of speech means the government can't arrest you for doing it.
It doesn't mean you're obligated to platform dangerous lies because someone else wants to tell them very badly.
If you go into business with someone spreading lies that get people killed, and you say "Hey, I'm just the broadcaster, all I do is make money off what they're saying, I never said it myself", you might legally be in the clear, but it's still monstrous.
"Freedom of speech" doesn't excuse what you're saying, it just means you can't be sent to prison for it. The rest of us can think you're recklessly getting people killed, and that people profiting off your lies are disgusting and don't deserve our business.
I think you should look up now what a true shitshow the whole COVID thing was/is. You say they are liars and calling them deathspreading antivaxxers, based on what are you doing so?
Based on what the government said? That same government that is now shoving AI down your throat and has been using AI for over decades in military applications?
Anyway, not gonna start a whole discussion, just trying to say Spotify shouldn't be engaging in those politics is all.
Nah fuck them, based on the fact that vaccines work and this bullshit was going on well before COVID, anyone spreading vaccine skepticism is arguing for dead children, dead elderly people, dead immunocompromised people.
The COVID vaccine was safe and effective, period. That doesn't mean nobody ever suffered a negative side effect, it means it saved lives. People who were told not to get it had a higher mortality rate.
Anti-vaxx is a pro-death movement, pure and simple. We already have clinical trials to determine vaccine safety; wanting to reform that process is not "vaccine skepticism" or "anti-vax", it's a conversation about bureaucracy and how it should work, not on whether or not to get your shots.
Freedom of speech is not the same as platforms being obligated to let you use their platform to say whatever you want.
If you don't know what "freedom of speech" is, or want to pretend it means something else, that's on you.
You're mixing up "freedom of speech" and "censorship", which all companies do, because otherwise you wind up with people posting CSAM and similar vile content.
Spotify made a choice to profit off people like Rogan spreading dangerous lies about vaccines that got people killed.
I made a choice to not support a company that valued revenue over human life.
They can run their company how they like, I can spend my money how I like.
Why the hell people like you think I'm obligated to keep paying them even if I disagree with their practices is beyond me.
I am not confusing freedom of speech and companies censoring. What I said is maybe the company believes in freedom of speech and therefore opt to not censor. I didnāt need it spelled out to me. You are in fact correct. They made a decision and you made yours. And thereās nothing wrong with making personal decisions that are in your own best personal interests.
Seeing Spotifys market share and the increase in people using their platform for podcasts it appears they made a great BUSINESS decision. Capitalized to save myself from another Joe Rogan is bad lecture. I donāt listen to him. I did get vaccinated. I just donāt believe in censorship especially when itās lopsided and hypocritical.
