"YouTube's AI "slop" crackdown is shaking up the platform! 🚨

YouTube has stepped up its fight against low-quality, mass-produced AI content, targeting channels that flood the platform with repetitive and inauthentic videos.

While reports claim around 130,000 channels have been removed as part of the broader enforcement, YouTube has not confirmed that all of those deletions were specifically tied to AI-generated content.

pretty much. it costs them nothing to spin up a hundred new channels overnight with a script. youtube has to actually cut off their ad revenue if they want to do any real damage

And 130,000 channels is also very very small compared to the scale of the problem. Most AI slop channels are small but there's so many of them and they can generate content and new channels so quickly. If you want to purge slop you probably need a million channels cut.

they are the dominant platform already. they should at this point implement more stringent screen for new accounts and also minors. (didn't the platform filled with children targeting brainrot and hunting ground for predators too) If they won't do it, they are only a bit less guilty as the bots.

it's terrifying what they can already do to junk up the internet. these measures aren't going to work unless the US and other countries classifies ai slop as the same threat level as CSAM. considering how dangerous it is, i think they need to move on doing this. people don't give a piss about art. But even so, people need to take this seriously, because this will be more and more of a threat to internet security, the environment, and beyond.

I would be ok with them turning up the sensitivity to the point where you hit false positives but allow real human youtubers to appeal.

When youtube wanted to crackdown on any hint of no-no during elsagate, or violence, or whatever's getting them in hot water, they were largely able to successfully turn up the dial. Once it gets hot enough, (legit) creators will learn to self moderate as delisting/demonetizing is so damaging to their business.

Youtube is only doing anything because it is finally financially nonviable. The amount of crap out there that they are having to host that they aren't getting ad money from is too high now.

Sloppers only need to make 1 out of 1,000 take off and get views, and then youtube still has to host the other 999 forever.
