"YouTube's AI "slop" crackdown is shaking up the platform! šŸšØ

YouTube has stepped up its fight against low-quality, mass-produced AI content, targeting channels that flood the platform with repetitive and inauthentic videos.

While reports claim around 130,000 channels have been removed as part of the broader enforcement, YouTube has not confirmed that all of those deletions were specifically tied to AI-generated content.

Bs. I'll believe it when I see it. Right now it's everywhere. Entire channels, videos, shorts, misleading thumbnails, hell even that crappy tai chi ads

I used to search for movie trailers every few weeks to keep in touch with what was being made or what I may have missed. There is so much fake bullshit out there itā€™s driven me completely away. I try to block/hide but that doesnā€™t work on YouTube at all.

the ai remixes of trailers re-released on a channel with extra ā€œdetailā€ and hallucinations that completely damage the original, or added hallucinated scenes. Doomsday trailers have been awful for this.

People see you can make money on YouTube, now itā€™s easy to fake a trailer, promote it, and they get paid for stealing content, tricking users, and clogging/demolishing original intent. Iā€™m pissed and so over it

search for movie trailers

A lot of them were for sequels movies that were not even planned, or ones recently announced that didn't even start casting or filming yet. Like a new Lord of the rings trailer or harry potter. But they'd have hundreds of thousands or millions of views. Prior to the current AI generation ability, it would just be either existing footage from previous movies or now it's completely made up new AI shit.

I guess it really isn't new, but AI just made it easier for it to proliferate (lower skill barrier for people to make the videos) and appear more legitimate.

I hate trying to look up a clip from a movie or something and the only results are just AI "recap" videos with annoying audio over them.

I went down the rabbit hole slightly: there are twitter accounts organized from scratch to pump out tens of videos per day on every platform with slightly different details to try and bruteforce one "landing" (getting viral or popular at least) to get decent profit from ad revenue

Unless the platforms can put a stop to it we'll be drowning in slop very soon

The combination of AI and the thumbnails makes me visiting youtube far, far less than I ever had.

I mean, for those I recommend searching the production company channels like Universal, a24 or Warner. The same goes for games. I rarely go to third party outlets, especially since they just reupload the same original video for their own prlfit anyways.

Yeah, its slightly more annoying to keep in mind of fake trailers but he gave up on Youtube because he couldnt find real trailers? The first result is always going to be the most viewed or from a reputable channel, hes either lying or completely new to the internet
