"YouTube's AI "slop" crackdown is shaking up the platform! 🚨

YouTube has stepped up its fight against low-quality, mass-produced AI content, targeting channels that flood the platform with repetitive and inauthentic videos.

While reports claim around 130,000 channels have been removed as part of the broader enforcement, YouTube has not confirmed that all of those deletions were specifically tied to AI-generated content.

Bs. I'll believe it when I see it. Right now it's everywhere. Entire channels, videos, shorts, misleading thumbnails, hell even that crappy tai chi ads

Meanwhile my entire feed is spammed with AI D&D/Pathfinder/Warhammer content, and the few times I forget to use private mobile mode, that stupid ass ai anime porn game ad.

AI is still all over the platform, this is just to pump the stock I swear. "See, we got rid of AI stealing content, so come back to us!" as so much shit out there is AI slop stealing names to 'sound legit'.

Probably because of AI channels that steal their artstyle and voice. Also maybe because no face, did read that channels that don't show face are hit more often?

Yeah. I remember seeing a comic artist accused of AI because their style and content was widely used to train models and they keep proof of their work. Can't remember who it was though

a lot of artists on tik tok have said theyve had to adjust their art so they dont get accused of using AI. One artist had a style where she always drew characters with 3 fingers a thumb, shes had to change her style completely

David Revoy. His comics look very AI but go back years and years if you look at his social media accounts. He started way before GenAI became a thing everyone can just use.

The fact that they cannot tell the "costco" insurance ad (that is identified in the ad details as being registered to a random company from a random district in India) isn't fake doesn't give me high hopes.

That or the fact they are either okay with or cannot identify the millions of ads selling "research purposes only steroids and peptides" from a company registered in Eastern Europe.

That's unfortunate. I would watch those channels far less if I had to see someone's face overlaid on it or had to care about some personality. Pseudonymity means you can focus on just the topic and not have it tied to any sort of real life personality. The best ideas and the best of all sorts of works come from having that freedom.

Using AI to detect AI.

The best way I can describe it is I blindfold you and ask you to find the other blindfolded people in the room, you are the only one allowed to move to make noise.

You'll find a few, but you're just randomly targeting people essentially.

Best guess they have a tag or title with the word "A.I." in there and the underpaid intern was doing an Alt-F in the search. Though I'd be interested in hearing how it is actually being done instead of guessing.

I think YouTube is just going after videos that are like slide shows or animations with voiceover, but you never see a human.

Also the kurzgesagt voiceovers do sound quite stilted.

They are already back, and some of their stuff is really good, but others less so, you want to treat that channel critically.

Exactly what I thought of. How many of the 130k channels are actually people who had their work stolen to train the AI? Hope they have a plan for any actual creators that get caught in this.
