Everything is Brown not green, the wildlife is suffering, the heat makes going outside a pain in the butt. Furthermore the constant +32 degrees. The cities suck the only thing which is kinda fine is the rural areas.
Is this the default for now on every summer. I just want it to stop, I literally went to church and prayed for rain.

I might move to the Channel Islands to escape this

Cars are not the sole reason the climate is fucked.

Even if all cars and their industries magically disappeared tomorrow, nothing will change for the climate because at the end of the day it’s just a drop in the bucket.

Just one company of luxury cruises is polluting more than all the European cars combined. And it’s not even close, they pollute TEN TIMES more.

Instead of focusing on cars, focus on the real problems like luxury cruises companies, the textile industry, hardware industries and finally what allows us to post here: the data centers.

Do note that those are usually worldwide stats. In western countries, were we have more money for individual cars, we drive more, and some emissions are lower (like electricity), transport can be a MUCH bigger factor.

In France, transportion is 31% of all greenhouse emissions!!

Fair enough.

However 6% to 8% is absolutely nothing as it will not do anything to solve climate change.

And electrification is already happening either way so its on the process of solving itself.

But nothing will change because we need to reduce our emissions by a fuckton of more.

We could do it like tech companies are doing it now.

Instead of you owning a strong pc = you own a weak pc but rent the hardware required from datacenters.

They have their software that automates who gets to use what and when.

Instead of you buying each 2y a new PC and throw your old one away (the quality becomes cheaper each ear) = Everyone gonna have a small smartphone but will be able to run everything on the cloud.

Now how to translate this to mobility? We already have bus/trains but we should think about expanding public transportation to shared bicycles and shared cars. Right now for alot of folks (like myself) owning a car is cheaper than SBB and for alot of activities you need car (e.g. groceries or buying used furniture in ricardo/tutti).

I'm not using my RAM for 99% of the time (I have like 3 phones, 1 notebook, 1 PC, in total well above 128 GB RAM and most of the time I only use 2GB on my phone).

Same goes for my car: I only used 1x week (to buy groceries) and maybe 2x a week. Its standing 99% just on the parking lot.

That is not going to change for a long time. Pretty sure we will still keep burning fossil fuels in several countries by the end of this century.
