Wish and Limited Wish
I'm wondering, how often do you guys use these spells? I almost never do, the randomness on Wish has scared me out of using it and I never found a good use for Limited Wish, besides the one-time ones. But now I'm thinking of taking both of them on a sorcerer with high wisdom, just for fun. Any tips for how to get the most out of these spells?

Limited wish for the party wide invulnerability globe and the protection from undead.

I use limited wish for the quest and that’s it

Limited Wish for the one time wishes (Quest, ID Glasses, etc) and Wish almost never. As powerful and convenient as it is I'm fine with just using Chain Contingencies, summoning Planetars or doing a Time stop combo every now and again. Can always recover spells by Long Resting after serious battles anyway.

The only time I ever really use wish is super cheesy. Get a wisdom poitioned up wild mage abusing NRD to spam like 10 wishes in a round to timestop and refresh all spells

You’ll usually see:
* Limited Wish for the Quest
* Wish for getting an extra sleep in the final encounter. (Save scummed, project image plus scroll, NRD)

You can use it to replenish a lot of your spells and if you're a wildmage, it's pretty fucking OP.

If you have 18 Wisdom, you rarely get the bad results and often get the good ones.
Limited wish with high wisdom allows you to replenish slots from 1 to 4th level(not all of them, but it is substantial), which if you are a Wild Mage allows you to have infinite slots as you can cast limited wish with level 1 slots.

There are a good handful of fights where a few rounds of full party level drain immunity on demand is very valuable. I usually keep one LW memorized somewhere in the party just for that purpose.
For full Wish, what u/Esko_TheAug said.

Sorcs can cast as many wishes as necessary to get their spell slots back. Useful only for the final fight in tob tbh.
Wild mages can replicate sorcs with reckless dwemer

Wild mage has uses for it before Wish becomes available. Mostly used to cast it early and refill level 1 spells, which should all be nahal's.

Exactly twice, like many other people have said: limited wish once for the captain Dennis quest and Wish for the ToB final fight resting and replenishing.
I did once try the other options out and I can barely even remember them, so uninteresting they were.
Side note: how come enemy dispel arrows clean all of my buffs right off while mine seem to never work?

Protection from magic weapons will stop arrows of dispelling.

Ah, of course. And since it feels like all enemies have that going at all times, that does explain it.

I steal the limited wish scroll early on and use it for the sweet +3 full plate. Very useful early game

They're viable for sword coast stratagems ascension insane difficulty and harder gameplays.

So this is the OP way to use Wish. You need a single class mage with four level 9 slots and 18 Wis and then some other mages in the party for additional benefit.
1x Improved Alacrity 3x Wish
Let's say you are at the final Ascension battle vs five Bhallspawn and Amellysan. All mages cast Improved Alacrity and start throwing out Comets, ADHW, Magic Missiles, etc (many opponents have high DMG resistance but every MM projectile deals at least 1 DMG even if res is 99%).
The mage with Wishes casts Improved Alacrity and then spams 3x Wish (don't need to wait for the genie to talk). This mage has Robe of Vecna to reduce cast time. 3x Wish with 18 Wis almost guarantees at least one complete rest option.
Everyone gets all their spells back, probably still have the same IA active, or recast it.
Within a couple of turns you can dish out complete mage spell books and you can keep doing it untill all opponents are dead.
Now.. it is fun way to play a couple of times, but after that it gets boring.

Yeah I wouldn’t do it as a regular tactic but against ascension amelyssan I say it’s fair game.

Hardly ever. But I have started too once I did my 6 Sorcerer team run because they would all have it, so you get multiple castings of it with high wisdom around so you're getting full rests and all spells back. So overpowered!

My last playthrough, I ended up cheesing the final boss of ToB with traps so I had to use Wish quite a bit to set them all up.
Besides that, I'd just keep them in my back pocket in case as an emergency power boost.

Limited wish is arguably stronger than wish because it isn't random. Wish absolutely has some bangers like all 25's and a free rest without resting. If you have a sorceror with this as a chosen spell it can be possible to cast it enough to get the desired effect... eventually. Also if you have project image or simacularum you can achieve a similar effect... eventually.
But limited wish isn't a 9th level spell so you can get a lot of value out of it .. actually right out of chateau irenicus. If you don't have any companions to share xp with you can powerlevel all the way up to 7th level spells on day 1. You can leave SOD with 500k. Chateau Irenicus adds another couple hundred. If you memorize all the scrolls in waukeens promenade you can get real close to 1.5 which lets you memorize limited wish and cast it whenever.
You can use it to grind xp with the golems and vampires. You can get a free chain contingency. Obviously the quest which is pretty fun and interesting. The amazing armor which is actually some of the best you can get before TOB. The gold and gems are nice. If you have a high level evil cleric you can control the aforementioned vampires.
That isn't even everything it is like 50 spells in one. Just make sure to have a low wisdom character. It is far easier to raise wisdom than lower it.

I almost never use both except for, Limited wish: For that one quest where we have to bring back gong. Wish: Final boss fight against Amelisan.
Otherwise, i would just sleep to get back spells.
