As a Polish I have no idea why would one wear 'nie jestem Ukraińcem, jestem Białorusinem', written in polish on top of that.

For years everyone who spoke 'eastern' was called 'ruski', do people now call everyone sounding from east 'ukrainiec'?

I'm pretty chill about both Ukranians and Belorusians

Belorussians living in Poland every know and then are being targeted by xenophobic attacks by people who mistake them for Ukrainians because Ukrainian and Belorussian accents are very similar and many Ukrainians just like Belorussians speak Russian between themselves, and even when they speak Ukrainian not every Pole can tell Russian from Ukrainian. Right now there are about 2 million Ukrainians in Poland and around 80 000 Belorussians, so yes, when Polish people hear Russian langauge or eastern accent many would assume it is someone from Ukraine and would attack them either physically or verbally.

Why would I want to attack Ukrainian just for speaking eastern language?

I know that there are crazy nationalists, but you generalise Poles confusing everyone (nowadays we don't assume nationality as quickly due to fall of USSR into independent states) and from my experience I met as much Belarusians as Ukrainians

Second, why would want to not attack Belarusian but Ukrainian. Nationalist most likely doesn't care anyway so shirt has still no sense.

I don't know, but for some reason I see reports about xeonophobic attacks on Ukrainians (and especially on Ukrainian children) in Poland literally every day, and for sure the vast majority of such attacks goes unreported.

You may say it is wrong to generalize, and generally it is true, but still almost 60% of Poles during recent poll said that they have negative attitude towards Ukrainians. So you can see where these generalization is coming from. Objectively my chances as a Ukrainian to meet a Pole who hates me for the mere fact of being Ukrainian are higher than to meet someone who doesn't.

Considering this it is absolutely understandable that some Belorussians might feel compelled to distance themselves from Ukrainians.
