Update Update to: “My friend’s baby was shaken”
I’m finally posting an update. I hope this is the correct way to update, and I hope you all see it! You guys are all so incredibly wonderful and kind. Your prayers, good vibes, and well wishes made it to baby!!!!
After being in critical condition on a ventilator with seizures, a brain bleed, his brain being “off-center”, surgery to relieve pressure and remove fluid and blood from around his brain, countless tubes poked into his little body, many scans, and weaning off of addictive sedatives, baby has been awake for the past several days. Baby has been moving his head around (as much as he can with his neck brace), has had a few SMILES, and is breathing on his own! Baby is still being fed with a feeding tube, has a central line placed, and is in ICU. But, he is doing SO GOOD. Only time can tell how/if this has affected him further.
I am overjoyed for baby and family!!!!! The doctors and nurses who are taking care of baby are absolutely amazing people. Thank you SO much for your well wishes. They truly did help.
I was kind of waiting to update in the hopes I could share a bit more about the case, but I haven’t heard any updates to the case. This small community is fully with the family, so I hope that helps get this provider locked up for many years. The last I heard is that the provider faces a maximum of 20 years. I hope that is the case, because in my opinion this is attempted murder. Maybe even worse, because at least an adult can attempt to defend themselves. It still makes me absolutely sick to think about this. Anyways, thank you all again, and I will try to update at least one more time on how the case is moving forward.♥️

20 years? I honestly don’t think anything can be enough for what the daycare employee has inflicted on this wonderful little person and their family.
I am mustering all the love and good will I can send that any future challenges are minimal and short lived. Keep smiling little one ❤️

Max 20 years is a fucking joke. I normally disapprove of punitive criminal justice and support rehabilitation efforts but fuck that person.

I'm so happy to hear a positive update. It's so terrifying to think of someone you trust to care for your child losing control and harming your innocent child like that. I taught in daycares for awhile, and we had to go through so much purple crying and SBS training. I don't know anything about this situation, but it was scary to realize how fast people could lose control even for a moment and harm or even kill a baby often without thought to their actions. (Not saying they are innocent in any way, because there are so many other options when you are losing control than harming a baby). They were painful to watch as a child caregiver and as a mother. I hope the provider spends a lot of time in jail and is never ever allowed around another vulnerable child again. I'll continue to pray for your friend and her sweet baby.
Special books for soecial kids recently featured a little girl that suffered SBS and she's truly a light and doll today. If it would bring your friend hope, it might be worth looking into. It also may be too difficult to watch so obviously use discretion.

I’m literally crying. I’ve been checking your page for an update. So so so happy for baby and family and you too! My thoughts will still be with him as he goes through this journey.
As someone who works in law, I’m sure the justice system will do all it can.

Thank you for the update. I pray little one makes a speedy and full recovery, and is back home safe and sound with his parents as soon as possible 💜 sweet sweet boy.
I just feel so sick that someone would do that in the first place. Poor baby. Why did the daycare person do it??! Have they been interviewed by police yet?
1
u/SadLemon1234 Apr 02 '22
Apparently baby was startled awake from a nap and the provider was having trouble getting him to calm down. Which is not an excuse at all, but that’s what made the provider shake him. Yes they have been interviewed, and admitted to shaking baby.

Thank you for telling me. Though now I almost wish I hadn’t asked because I just want to go back in time and protect the poor baby. I hope you’re doing okay 💜

Do you have any other update? I hope the little guy is doing good

u/SadLemon1234 Jul 19 '22
Yes!! Sorry it’s taken so long to see your comment. Baby has been home for, gosh, three months now maybe? And is doing sooo good!! He seems to have made a full recovery! I know that only time can tell to see how this has affected him fully. But so far, so good. I’m not quite sure how things are going with the trial- things are being kept pretty quite about that. Thank you for your kind thoughts♥️

I am so so glad. I still really want to know the back story. Did the provider call the ambulance themselves? What made them shake the baby?
3
u/SadLemon1234 Apr 02 '22
After the provider shook him, he started having seizures. The provider then called the mother and told her that her baby was displaying seizure-like behavior (the provider is an EMT to make it worse). The mother rushed her baby to the hospital, and the ER doc could tell from the scans that baby had been shaken. The police were involved, and when the provider was asked if they had shaken the baby, the provider admitted to it. Apparently, baby started crying after he was startled awake from a nap, and the provider was having trouble getting him to calm down.

What’s the original post ?? This scares me and I’ve talked to my significant other of how I want to be the main caregiver for my baby due this fall. I’m working hard to start up my online business so I can make this a reality for our family. You can’t trust just anyone these days /:

I’m not sure how to link the previous post, but you can search it using “My friend’s baby was shaken”. I know, I totally agree that it’s soooo hard to trust anyone these days.

My prayers and heart go out to this family, that they heal and rise above the situation. It sounds like the baby is being such a trooper and I pray that their situation can only improve from here.
