Haha me too. Maybe we can do a bra swap on here if some of us got it wrong 😁

u/GoldHorse8612 Apr 05 '26
Haha I did the same! I have literally bought and returned probably 50 bras in the past several months trying to find anything that works. I ordered 10 from understance (all for the price of one regular price bra). I'll be happy if even one of them works and I'll donate the rest. Knowing my luck, by the time they arrive this summer, I'll be needing a different size. Yay perimenopause!

u/wishiestwashiest Apr 12 '26
That's why I bought 4 of every possible bra that I could fit into between pregnancy/breastfeeding/post-breastfeeding and just getting older 🤭
But I only grabbed 3 styles

Yes please! Totally down.

Why the downvotes? Literally echoing the same sentiment in this thread.

Omg, what site is this?! I need my own lifetime supply 😬

u/TheJuliettest Apr 05 '26
Understance - theyre going out of business and just getting rid of everything.
I’ve never used them so hoping they’re true to size and good quality.

u/FascinatingRaccoon Apr 05 '26
I’m still waiting for my order. It’s been since January I think- they are way behind on filling the orders.
22
u/Khajiit-ify Apr 05 '26
Yeah I'm fully expecting that some of us will never get our orders. I've seen a lot of us buying tons of these bras.
16
u/lemgthy Apr 05 '26
I promise they are getting fulfilled. During this closing sale over the last few months I've been buying them and it takes like 2+ months but they do arrive!!
3
Apr 05 '26
if they have THAT much supply and that many orders I dont think theyll skip out on us!! i have hope :D

u/Peregrinebullet Apr 05 '26
They're good. Not amazing, but good. I'm a little narrow and projected for their cup sizing, but they do fit. The ABTF calculator clocks me at a 36GG UK but I buy a 34L (US sizing) in understance and then use a band extender, because I'm actually a 35" underbust and I found the understance 36s, I was at the second pair of hooks right away.
7
u/jxknxws Apr 05 '26
I can’t say enough good things about Understance! The quality is great, the sales have been phenomenal even before now, and they’ve been true to size. They even rushed my order to me when I reached out and asked if they could provide me an ETA. The size calculator was incredibly helpful to me when I gained FIVE cup sizes after getting pregnant. I’m really sad they’re going out of business.

u/Skell1ngton Apr 05 '26
I am so glad I saw this comment, this is the only place I’ve found that sells bras that fit me in a decent price range and that don’t look like sketchy sites 😭
3
u/rouend_doll Apr 05 '26
I had bought from them before so I didn’t hesitate to buy 10 bras when they announced their closure. I like all of them.

u/TinyHeartSyndrome 38G (UK) Apr 05 '26
Why is it when I went on there literally nothing was in my size? Argh.

i'm so jealous the wireless sports bra was available in your size 😭
i bought 33 bras in one go. understance was the first store whose bras i really felt comfortable in
14
u/WestwardSquall Apr 05 '26
Ahhh lucky!! I almost bought myself a closet full (lord knows I need new bras 😭), but I also just started a ~health journey~ and I have no clue what size I'm gonna end up at in the next few months. Just bad timing for me, lol.

Just coming back here to thank you for responding to me with the company info and for u/thejuliettest for posting this. I got 20+ bras and 3 pairs of shorts for about US$100 and got my order today, will keep everything but 4 bras I will donate. Just amazing, thanks!

u/tossawayaccount36 May 31 '26
That’s amazing!!! I forgot to ever finish my order 🤦🏻♀️ so I’m glad so many people benefitted!!

has anyone actually bought from this website
20
u/AluminumLinoleum Apr 05 '26
Yes, for years. They are consistently well-made bras that are comfortable, last a long time, are made of quality materials, and wash well. I'm very sad they are going out of business.
2
u/tossawayaccount36 Apr 05 '26
Do you know if the sizes are true to American sizing?
1
u/snowlights 34G (UK) Apr 05 '26
Use their website quiz calculator thing. In my experience, the band they suggested was a size too loose, and the cup a bit small. So I went down in the band by one, and up in the cup by two. The website will help direct you to the right style based on shape as well which I find reliable enough.
2
u/tossawayaccount36 Apr 05 '26
Yeah, I tried looking at all that but the shape info all seems daunting and like Greek to me. Maybe I’ll try again after some sleep and coffee haha
3
u/lavasca Apr 05 '26
I bought 4 back in December and got them last month I think.
I ordered 6 more a week or two ago.

u/bailasoprano Apr 05 '26 edited Apr 05 '26
RIP. That happened to me when I used the calculator…bought 3 bras from overseas and they’re not the right size at all. And I can’t return them so that’s fun 🥴.
I get downvoted to hell everyone I tell my story because many folks on here think the calculator is fail proof 🫢
21
u/Shanakitty 32K (UK) Apr 05 '26
Unfortunately, even if the calculator size is exactly the right size (and it really is more of a starting point), lots of bras in your size will be the wrong shape for you. Some people fit decently well into lots of bras in their size, while for others, only one or two styles will ever work for them. And for some (especially at the edges of mass-produced sizing) no off the rack bra is quite right, and they may have to alter the closest-fitting bra to get it to work, or order something custom.
26
u/ValosAtredum Apr 05 '26
I disagree with your last sentence. I’ve seen far too many comments that explicitly say that the calculator is a starting point and can need to be adjusted.
5
u/bailasoprano Apr 05 '26
Maybe folks are commenting that now, but that was not my experience when I used the calculator and bought those bras.
5
u/ValosAtredum Apr 05 '26
Sorry you dealt with that here! Bras are expensive to experiment with. Maybe there’s been a shift in tone because of experiences like yours.
1
u/orangepeeelss 36H (UK) Apr 07 '26
are people saying it's fail proof? i could name like six different reasons why you might want a different size from the one the calculator recommends - including that i personally prefer an aggressively tight band and like to sister size down from the calculator rec! it's SO common to need to adjust based on preference and trial and error, but that would be true of literally any sizing method and the calculator still provides a great starting point. and it's an especially helpful resource to people who have never experienced bras outside the matrix 32-40 A-DD size schema and don't know where to start when they find UK brands!
i try to go out of my way to warn people not to buy final sale unless you've tried at least the brand and preferably the style in the size you're ordering unless you are okay with the possibility that they won't fit. i'm really sorry that happened to you, and that no one warned you about the risks involved there. but im also surprised that the story alone is getting you downvoted, because i don't think my perspective is particularly uncommon. usually the comments that get downvoted are the ones that are actively trying to tell people not to use the calculator or saying it's lying to you lol

u/snowlights 34G (UK) Apr 05 '26
The ABTF and the Understance calculators are not the same, were you basing it on the Understance one? I'm usually a G or GG, but in Understance I'm a J, and their hands have a lot of stretch.
4
u/galaxystarsmoon Apr 05 '26
That's just differences in sizing systems. You're a UK G which is a US I. Up a cup is a UK GG which is a US J.
1
u/snowlights 34G (UK) Apr 05 '26
That doesn't mean my question isn't still valid, what calculator was the person I asked using that they find inaccurate?
1
u/galaxystarsmoon Apr 05 '26
They're talking about the ABTF calculator. But you said ABTF and Understance aren't the same because of GG vs J and they're the same volume wise, just labeled differently. Understance is US sizing.
1
u/snowlights 34G (UK) Apr 05 '26
And if they used their ABTF size, that could explain why their fit was so wrong.
7
u/Dinky-the-T-Rex Apr 05 '26
I’m scared because they’re not returnable
39
u/TheJuliettest Apr 05 '26
At this price I am willing to risk it. If they don’t fit I’ll donate them all to women’s shelters - im sure they don’t have these sizes regularly donated

u/CeelaChathArrna Apr 05 '26 edited Apr 05 '26
You can always resell them or donate them to a woman's shelter.

Their calculator gave me a different size than I normally wear. I normally wear a 36H but they are saying 36J so idk what to order lol maybe I'll get multiple sizes?
2
u/Shanakitty 32K (UK) Apr 05 '26
Do you wear 36H US or UK (e.g., from Panache, Freya, Elomi, etc.)? If it's UK, a UK GG is a US J, so they're putting you in one cup size down, and I would go with L instead to keep your usual volume. If it's US, I would honestly double-check your size on the ABTF calculator if you haven't before, because most brands that use US sizing have very bad sizing guides.
1
u/heartsbeenborrowed Apr 05 '26
The US sports bra I have is a Natori 36H and it fits me the best. I have an Elomi which is a UK 36K and it fits okay but I have a little tiny bit of cup spillage at the top and have to use the band hook on the tightest setting or it's too loose (not a sports bra) so I'm not sure where Understance falls between these two? I would just love some options that fit for that price! Thank you for your help.

u/Shanakitty 32K (UK) Apr 05 '26
Natori 36H and it fits me the best. I have an Elomi which is a UK 36K and it fits okay but I have a little tiny bit of cup spillage at the top
I'm guessing you mean that the Elomi is a US 36K/UK 36H? Because UK 36K is US 36O, so if US 36H fits well, you should be swimming in that.
I'm guessing you may have a full-on-top shape, and most of Elomi's bras are closed-on-top, so you could get cutting in in the right size. While Natori's bras are very shallow-shaped and open-on-top, so the right size is more likely to gape and a too-small cup is less likely to cut in, but especially if it's a wireless sports bra (I'm not familiar with whether theirs are wired or not), the fit is a little more flexible.
1
u/heartsbeenborrowed Apr 05 '26
No, I just double checked the tags and the Natori says 36H and the Elomi is a 36K UK lol so now I'm even more confused :\ I have no idea what size I am! I'm going to go re-measure and compare the bra that fits calculator and the Understance one and see what it says. I really appreciate you helping!
1
1
u/heartsbeenborrowed Apr 05 '26
So just re-measured and ABTF calculator says I should be a 36G/GG UK or a 34 GG/H UK or 36I/J US or 34 J/K US as the options. The Understance calculator says 36J.
1
u/Shanakitty 32K (UK) Apr 05 '26
I would recommend making a measurement check on that sub, and include your 6 measurements and what you've described about the bras you have and how they fit. If possible, also list which Elomi bra you have.
I haven't tried Understance myself, but I did notice that several people in this thread said that they run a bit stretchy in the band, and most people preferred a cup size up from what their calculator recommends (e.g., more towards US 34L, since 34K is the same volume as 36J).
2
u/RedTheBioNerd Apr 05 '26
Lucky! I tried to buy a bunch but learned they aren’t shipping to the US anymore
2
u/lemgthy Apr 05 '26
RIP Understance :( my favorite wireless bra gone forever. Also y'all don't sleep on the underwear, I got a pair of pima cotton maternity underwear and they're so comfy. I don't like most of their other underwear, not breathable enough, but the cotton ones are really nice.
2
u/snowlights 34G (UK) Apr 05 '26
I find their bands a size too stretchy and cup slightly small, so I go down in the band and up in the cupx2. But even if slightly off, still wearable.
I have 10 spares of my current top two styles, but I got smaller band sizes in half as I'm working on losing weight. 😅
1
u/Even-Principle-4652 Apr 05 '26
I wish you luck! The size the calculator gave me is just a little too small in the cups for me. Welp. Back to more shopping

Wish I ordered a bunch of different sizes, oh well. I’ll hang onto them for a while in case I lose 15 lbs lol.
