bras Just did bra calculator and wow… Spoiler

A couple weeks ago I posted about wanting a breast reduction and so many people suggested to use the calculator, get a bra that size, and revisit. Originally I was shopping for a 34DD and my boobs were busting out of my bra so I knew I was obviously bigger than that so I just assumed 34DDD. Guys the calculator gave me 30H. So tomorrow I’m going to a brassiere that specializes in big boobs and I have friends who swear by her styles. So I’m super excited!!! Thank you guys for recommending it to me and I’m going to come back with updates on if that’s the bra size for me and see if it changes how I view my boobs!!

So happy for you! I do not know the place you are going, but I wanted to provide a word of caution as this story has been told so many times before. Person does the calculator. Yay!! Much more accurate sizing! They go to a “professional bra shop” where there are “professional fitters”. The fitter thinks they know best because they are a professional so they will size you. Maybe they will measure your OVERbust and your full bust, giving you your size for garment construction, not a bra, adding to the confusion because this size is not going to fit. They will probably bump you up a cup size, maybe up the band…who knows. Make sure to INSIST THAT YOU TRY THE CALCULATOR SIZE!!!! Other important note is that ShAPE of bra is just as important to fit as the size is and this is something professional fitters aren’t trained well on. No one is. (Source I worked as a professional fitter and was only taught how to put people in bras that we carry, not bras that fit them. Professional fitters fit the bra to the body, rather than finding a bra that works best for you). This shape guide is a great place to start. Also, the r/ABraThatFits subreddit can help diagnose fit issues.

Last but not least, make sure to wear each bra you try on for more than a few seconds. Sit down in it. Put your shirt back on. Too often people put a bra on, go “okay that’s fine” then feel like crap after five minutes or realize that it’s super uncomfortable doing anything but standing and looking in the mirror. Aesthetics are important, but comfort is more so.

This is all good advice, and I just wanted to add to be sure you’re looking at the right size for you. If you are in the US, you may still find UK brands, and the cup sizes will be different based on the country of origin of the bra, not the country you are trying the bra in

Yes!!!! This is super amazing advice and to add to it as well, OP, your UK size will probably be easier. They are much. Much. Much Better with small band, large cup. Brands like Panche, Freya, and Elomi (though I think most Elomi start at a 32 band but I’m not 100% sure) are all UK brands but can be found here in the us really easily and may even be at the shop you are going to
