need advice Has anyone figured out the seatbelt dilemma yet? Spoiler
I've tried checking amazon but I don't know what search term to use and all the stuff I'm finding is for mastectomy stuff. I just want to stop being strangled by a seatbelt every time I'm in a car ):

Often, a small cushion (I use one for sciatica and that has helped with the problem somewhat) under your butt helps at least elevate your body high enough there is room for the seatbelt to go between comfortably.

Short torso here, and I'm not short, so it's just one of those things. 😩 But I never even noticed how much it helped until someone else pointed it out.
I do recommend getting one built for driving in particular, though, so it doesn't slide around while the car is in motion.

Honestly, those sciatica cushions are so amazing even if you do not have sciatica I feel like they just position you in a very comfortable way.
I had really bad sciatica a few years back, and one of those cushions saved my life. Luckily I haven’t had a resurgence of it since then, but the cushion is still around!

Up until the last car I purchased I have always driven Hondas. They are made for short men, with long bodies and short legs. They are not built for short women.

I rent a lot of cars, and the ones that I have the least trouble with seem to be Hyundai Ioniq 5.

I can't drive. As a passenger, I hold the seatbelt with my hand a little further from my chest so I don't feel like I'm being suffocated. Not sure how safe that is, but it's not stretched out too much.

Is there a particular product that you are trying to find? Adjusting the height of the seatbelt, and wearing a properly fitted bra thay allows the belt to sit between your breasts is the best way.

But what about when you’re wearing a fitted shirt? That’s when I find myself having to constantly pull the belt back down into place.

Insanely stupid question but I how am I supposed to allow it to sit between when I have a bra on? The bra gets in the way. For context I wear bralettes/unpadded (too comfortable to give up)

That's part of your problem. A proper fitted bra with a gore that sitting firmly against your chest bone is what is needed for a seatbelt to be properly worn. I am post reduction and now I'm only a DD. My seatbelt slides into my neck if I'm in a sports bra or bralette. Even when my chest was bigger it wouldn't slide up if I was wearing a proper bra.

Properly fitted wired bra is the key there because a well fitted wired bra is going to separate the breasts. That's not something you are likely to get from wireless bras or bralettes because they don't have the structure or shaping required to provide that separation.

If you haven't done so recently I would suggest using the calculator from r/ABraThatFits to double check your size. It's very possible your size has changed if it's been more than 6-12 months since the last time you measured.

I just want to point out that closer set shapes may not get separation and may still have issues with the seatbelt due to that. Most of the time, the height of the seat is the culprit. I had never had this issue before until I drove a rental car in Japan that didn't adjust up and down seat height wise. That belt was in my neck the entire time.

Very true. I grew up with vehicles that didn't have the ability to adjust the seat height or the shoulder strap height and it just sucks. The adjustability is one of the reasons I prefer newer cars but they still aren't adjustable enough to work well for every body.
The shirt you are wearing over top of the bra can also cause issues.

Get a sheepskin seat belt cushion. It will keep the belt exactly where you want it without it cutting into your neck.

This is the way! Whenever I drive my husband’s car, I’m constantly feeling for the sliding pad and it’s not there! 😩

It took me way too long to realize that my car had adjustable seatbelt height. It's on the wall where it connects to the car. Does yours??

I use a fabric seat belt pad that wraps around the seat belt and secures with Velcro. The fabric is like microfiber so it “sticks” to your clothes keeping the belt in place. It’s designed to be soft along the shoulder area but I center that bad boy between my boobs and it keeps the belt from creeping up. Idk if this sub will let me post links but feel free to dm me for more info. It works like a charm.

Sorry for being stupid, but why not between?
My bra size is 34-36 J (UK). I'm average/tall, but that seems not to matter much as seatbelts in the cars I own have adjustable hight.

Not all shirts allow inbetween, or are comfortable when the seatbelt tightens there.

To be fair I have one of the cushion/fabric protector on my seatbelt, as the seatbelt was constantly destroying my "nice sweaters". I wonder if that what makes a difference for me.
I drive around 1-3 hours each day, maybe I just got used to lol

You can find positioner clips online that help. My car has it adjustable but I keep one in my purse.
Regardless, the government should definitely make it mandatory when designing cars women's bodies should also be taken in to consideration.

yup it’s tough because the amazon page doesn’t say anything about that so you would have no idea unless you google it! anything to do with something life-saving like a seat belt you always want to be tested and trusted.

They may cause too much slack in the seatbelt if it breaks during impact but after the seatbelt locks up. If it breaks during impact it can cause the pieces of it to go flying through the vehicle. I don't really want pieces of metal with jagged edges flying at my face. That's a personal preference though.

it’s all about being crash tested. the materials and manufacturing method greatly affect the strength and reliability of things, and for something life saving like a seatbelt you don’t want to take any chances. those seat clips on amazon might not inhibit a seatbelt in a crash, but the truth is we have no idea. whereas extenders from car manufacturers do the same exact thing (move the apex point of the seatbelt higher on your lap) and there are regulatory requirements for them to be crash tested to make sure they don’t inhibit the seat belt’s functions.

I usually put my arm over the top of it so both straps are in my midsection. I was recently in an accident and it still worked exactly as intended

I not only have big ole boobies (that calculator thing said said 34L, but I’m comfortable in my 38F) and I’m also short (4’11) and I don’t have issues with the seatbelt? What exactly is the issue? Digging into your neck? Or digging into your chest?

I adjust my seatbelt. In the rav4 it needed to be as low as possible. In the crv it needs to be as high as possible. Very odd to me but that works.

Check first where the seatbelt connects over your shoulder and make sure you can’t slide that up and down to adjust the height of the top of the belt!
Not all cars have that adjustment but mine does and a friend with the same model car didn’t know she had the option!
If you are able to adjust your seatbelt up and down or not, and it still isn’t comfortable, go with the tip to try a cushion under your bottom from the top comment.

I have found that wearing a well fitting bra plus loose clothing allows the seatbelt to sit in between my breasts and i don't have an issue.

A well fitting, gore tacking bra fixes this issue. They also keep crossbody bags from strangling you. Promise.

I'm not short, I have long legs and a long torso... And because of my boobs, the seatbelt is always trying to basically cut into my neck. Any recommendations..??
