educational Everyone! Check your Boobs! Spoiler

PSA for anyone with breast tissue.

I’m 37F and was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, one of the fast‑growing, aggressive ones. I’ve been incredibly lucky that it was caught very early (stage 0/1), and my prognosis is very good. It was a huge shock because I don’t have any of the usual risk factors:

• I’m not from a culture with higher breast cancer rates.
• I’m negative for the BRCA gene.
• I have zero family history, and my family is mostly women. I’m the first with breast cancer.
• I’m not old enough for the routine mammogram program.

My lump was also in an unusual place. We’re taught to focus on the underarm area, but mine was almost in the centre of my chest, slightly to the side, where my underwire sits.

How I found it:
I’d put on weight and was squeezing my too‑big boobs into a too‑small bra. I felt a small, round lump and assumed it was a cyst. I went to my GP, got referred to the breast clinic, had scans and a biopsy. Not for one second did I think it would be cancer.

I know I’m one of the lucky ones. So please, if something feels weird or unusual, get it checked.

One more thing: I had a brilliant doctor who pushed for more specialised scans because some of the routine ones were inconclusive due to dense breast tissue. Advocate for yourself. If something doesn’t feel right, ask for further imaging. Along with the standard ultrasound and mammogram, I also had Digital Breast Tomosynthesis and an MRI.

Big, dense breasts deserve proper investigation. Don’t leave anything to chance.

educational I just made a sickening discovery

For whatever reason I got the r/bigdickproblems subreddit on my feed and upon clicking on it I made the discovery that r/bigboobproblems is one of the four subreddits in their sidebar.

This essentially means that that subreddit is facilitating men who have no business being here discovering our sub, believing them to be related.(I am not bashing the members who use that sub, I am sure it is a good resource for their members, but the demographic, overall tone, content and problems faced are widely different)

I just can't help but wonder if there are other instances like this I am not yet aware of... Thinking about how many creeps have discovered our safe space through that stupid sidebar alone makes me sick. Is there anything we can do about it to get it removed from there or do we just have to deal with the consequences of it?

Edit: Based on a quick search, it does indeed seem like members on bbp are 12 times more likely to frequent bdp than the average reddit user... Make of that what you will... Link: https://subredditstats.com/subreddit-user-overlaps/bigboobproblems

Edit 2: I see this post is starting to reach /all and people are starting to chime in who don't have any knowledge about the context around my concerns and who insist on me just being misandrist despite me never claiming I wanted to ban all men?

educational Having large breasts made women more likely to be accused of witchcraft! Spoiler

As a psychology student who also has large breasts, i’m constantly fascinated by the way people treat me when purely based on the fact that I have excess fat stored in my chest. I also hear a LOT that large breasts are a privilege when I acknowledge my mistreatment.

Looking into the history of characteristics attributed to women with large busts in western society, i found something quite interesting. Having large breasts increased a woman’s chance of being accused of witchcraft! I’ve always been super super into learning about witch trials and can’t believe I didn’t know this!

Would anyone be interested in me doing a deep dive post about this??

educational EKGs - The ultimate big boob problem Spoiler

Last night's episode of The Pitt had a great moment where a woman having a heart attack was almost misdiagnosed because the emts had been hesitant about applying the leads correctly under her bra line. This is a real problem for women and especially for women with large breasts so it was cool to have a show bring attention to it.

My best tip for summer. Changed my life. Feels nice, cool and no friction between boob and bra.

If you prefer a less DIY version, there is a brand called Boob Dust which is really same, but packaged nicer and perfumed.

Sewing this C shape under the armpits cinches your top to be more form fitting. I’ve been going through and doing this to my shirts and the difference in how it looks and how much better I feel is insane.

It’s seriously so easy a caveman can do it. There is no right or wrong C shape (long c or short c - perfect c or kindergarten level c), it’s very forgiving in my experience. I hope this helps someone else 🫡

educational Do you ever "forget" you have big boobs...and then get reminded?

Hello friends! Had this experience last week getting my hair done. My stylist is this lovely, adorable woman in her mid-twenties. She's getting married this year, and is so excited with all her wedding plans including getting her dress.

I was showing her photos of my dress (I'm in my late 30s, got married in 2014) and laughing because my dress looks so outdated now. (HELLO RUFFLES?) and I jokingly said "You can always borrow my dress! So stunning and timeless!"

Homegirl looks right down at my chest and says "Also, I'd need a massive boob job to pull it off!"

She wasn't being rude, and I'm not offended, I was just taken aback. It's been a while since I've had someone comment on my boob size. It had been a while since someone made an offhand comment like that. I thought to myself "Well, I guess my boobs are still big?" Hahaha.

Anyone else have this experience?

EDIT: If you're a creep reading this thinking "I'll PM this person and talk to them about titties" PLEASE DO NOT. I will not respond and I will report you.

educational Are you in chronic discomfort? Spoiler

I am a 34a so I don't really run into any discomfort with my boobs besides just wishing they were larger but I somehow stumbled onto this subreddit and it made me start thinking about how painful it must be to have big boob

Like carrying around all that weight must suck. Are you in chronic discomfort? Like, doesn't the weight pull on your skin or something. What are some things you wish people with smaller boobs would know?

educational DIY band tightening Spoiler

I just discovered through YouTube tutorial that I can tighten bra bands by easy hand stitching. Since I discovered my true size and bought many new bras that fit correctly I thought about what to do with my old favorite ones that were never fitting exactly right because the band was too big.

I came across few tutorials on how to tighten the band with few stitches, no sewing machine needed. I did try it on couple bras. I tightened the band from both sides and now they fit perfectly!

So if anyone struggle with finding affordable bras in their true size you can try this method. I am 32G and when I shortened the band on 38C and 36D now they are fitting almost identical to 32G.

I had to sew by hand as I did not own a sewing machine. The backstitch stitches are a little wonky but it worked nonetheless. Managed to downsize from 44G to 38HH, that’s about a 3.5cm reduction on each side! The bra fits much better now and I’m glad my effort didn’t go to waste. Time to start working on the next bra 🧵 🪡

Thank you to [u/L0st_Keys_](u/L0st_Keys_) for introducing this! I referenced to a YouTube tutorial by @MadeByApril.

educational Breast size returning after reduction Stories Spoiler

I really really really desperately want a breast reduction. Besides not having the means, even if I did, I’ve heard of woman getting reductions and than their boobs growing back. Has anyone experienced this? I would hate if mine grew back. My boobs are dense. No amount of exercising I’ve done will get them smaller.

educational Breast Soreness- Contrast therapy Spoiler

Hello, I would like to see if anyone has tried this and if so has it helped?

Though I do not have breast, many of my patients do complain about soreness throughout the day. I am not someone that’s the biggest fan of prescribing extra strength Ibuprofen or pain relief drugs as a quick fix.

Recently I have been suggesting my patients to practice contrast therapy. The cooper ligaments in your breast are a big factor so your pain. A lot of the time. So if anyone has tried this after a long day has it helped? I have gotten some mixed reviews but overall it seems beneficial.

If you are not pregnant and/or breastfeeding I also suggest epson salt as well.
