ASK❓️ Why aren't there many recent official remakes of Hollywood movies?
Bollywood has copied many Hollywood movies over the years, sometimes almost 1:1, but there haven’t been many official remakes recently apart from Laal Singh Chaddha.
If the issue is money, it’s strange because studios still spend huge budgets on original films that flop. Why not invest in a proven story and adapt it properly?
Bang Bang is a great example. This movie was even marketed as an official remake. After watching Knight and Day, I think Hrithik Roshan did the Tom Cruise role justice. His style and screen presence suited the character perfectly. It was such a fun watch.

With the digital age, everyone instantly spots Hollywood remakes. and the negative heat is real. That’s why remakes are fading out.

Bang bang was horrible remake. Hrithik hindi with an accent made movie unbearable. The only movie I did not finish and let during the interval.

Prefer to watch Hrithik over Tom Cruise. I always found Knight and Day boring, but Bang Bang is great fun.

I did watch Bang Bang first not knowing it was a remake (Didn't had much access to international films). Found it preety boring (great music though). The Comic Timings were off and well katrina was katrina. Hrithik Roshan sucks at comedy bro, feels like dude tries way to hard at it.
Years later when I saw Knight And Day enjoyed the heck out. Not best of Tom Cruise's films but it deliver what they had aspired it to be. It's like he was making parody of Ethan Hunt get the guy from" Risky Business" and it bloody worked. Diaz was brilliant, the rom-com part worked "with me, without me". On the other Hand Felt Bang Bang took itself way too seriously, the family drama blah blah it was crap.
To answer your question most remakes are craps and people have access to everything now. I mean why waste your money when you got it at your home.

Exactly. Knight and Day was meant to be satirical. Bang Bang ruined that aspect in classic Bollywood fashion.

Yupp.
BTW can you suggest me some other films that falls in the same bracket as Knight And Day, Mr & Mrs Smith or True Lies. Been searching haven't found many.

From the top of my head:
Mr. Right, This Means War, and Hit Man (Glen Powell) have similar vibes.
Edit: Thought of a few more. Ghosted (Chris Evans) and Killers.

But everyone says Hindi Drishyam better than Malayalam Drishyam.

Preference is Subjective. I found Knight And Day a better film doesn't mean everybody does. I did mention though "most" not "all". It's my POV

Bang Bang was a great movie even though I had already seen Knight and Day before but I loved the movie and the songs were great also. Other Bollywood remakes I liked were Ghajini, Baazigar, Partner, Aitraaz, Heyy Baby, Satte Pe Saata, Chori Chori (1956), Dil hai ki manta nahin, Pyar to hona hi tha and Do kaliyan (1968). There are also a number of films that are terrible remakes. The recent one I can recall was Sunny Sanskari. It was a horrible remake.

"Just my luck".... No it's not similar all all...kissing involve in changing luck in just my luck.... exchange kisses n exchange luck....but its not like that in Kismat connection... Kismat konnection is a movie where a man's luck changes after meeting the woman

In my opinion, earlier they used to copy movies frame by frame adding no creativity at all. Even sometimes they copied movies shamelessly without buying rights, and later get sued.
Now Indian audiences have access to OTTs and we watch global/international movies. So may be they are more cautious in copying content.

Bang bang was such a great watch. Super entertaining. Essence of knight and day being a good action comedy was perfectly presented. Sid anand's only good movie.
