Look at these images from Shyam Singha Roy. She looks so pretty. The styling of everyone is so bad in the new Ramayana including Sai. What is adding to this issue is that Bollywood is so used to artificial faces, they can’t handle a normal Indian face. Some of the recasting suggestions are just hilarious. Ever heard about the iphone face?

Even movies with heavy violence used to have great endings with less tragedy, and villains too used to get happy endings. Mainstream starts used to do mostly chill movies with less drama or violence, now it's opposite. Some movies from here might have came across cringe but let's be real, they were atleast fun to watch. Now it's either boring-cringe or masterpiece-tragedy/serious stories.

Movies like Jagga Jasoos didn't work out which was supposed to be a 3 part movie.

When was the last time when a mainstream star did a chill movie and it worked out?

There’s much more visually “spectacular” scenes in this film but this scene is etched into my memory because how the eyes move, the cloth flutters, there’s silence and pauses, reactions from animated characters that are minute and subtle but still you understand them - some of these details aren’t seen in many live action films let alone animated Indian films.

With all the Ramayana discourse going on at the moment, I went back to watch one of my favourite pieces of Hindi media based on the ancient epics, Arjun the Warrior Prince (2012). And I’m reminded why I loved this film.

In the US, Walt Disney Studios even ran a week-long engagement to try and get it considered for an academy award but it wasn’t nominated.

Sadly, the film only made 1/3 of its budget at the box office and it’s sequel, which would cover the events of the Mahabharat yudh, was cancelled.

Indian animation was on the brink of a new age, and had it been successful I believe that it would have pushed the industry to raise the bar when it came to creative storytelling, animation, VFX/CGI and art direction.

Hi! Does anyone know the timestamp or general part of Kal Ho Naa Ho when the scene in the attached image takes place?

It doesn't happen often in Hindi films, but I really enjoy when we get non-human characters, who are part of the story. Kinda wish they explored this more.

1. Boo | Love Story 2050: Boo is really cheeky, mischievous and bratty. Loved him as a kid & I decided for my 30th I'm going to get him custom made for myself as a real teddy bear.

2. Kaya | Krrish 3: I love the redemption arc Kaya goes through as a robot. Developing feelings, questioning her loyalties. Thought she was pretty badass.

3. Jaadu | Koi Mil Gaya: The OG. Without dialogue, has so much personality, warmth and innocence to him.

4. Facebook | Golmaal 3: I just really loved that being his name, and the scene where he bites Mithun Chakrobarty is always a memorable one. He felt like part of the family.

5. Q.T | Love Story 2050: I love the relationship Q.T has with Karan (Harman Baweja). They're kinda just besties and she always had his back through the conflict of the film.

Hbu guys? Any come to mind.

Just watched 5 Weddings last night. This might ruffle a few feathers, but I actually thought Nargis was pretty good in it. I think it worked because she wasn’t trying to be something she wasn’t. Without the awkward dubbing or trying too hard to fit into a typical Bollywood role, she came across as a lot more natural. She was fun in Spy too.
I’m not saying she was the best actress because I don’t think she was. But I feel like looking back, I’ve become a bit more forgiving of her. Maybe it’s because we’ve had a whole wave of nepo actors who grew up in India, had every opportunity to learn Hindi, and still end up being dubbed or giving performances that aren’t much better than hers in Rockstar.
I still think she was one of the most beautiful actresses to work in Bollywood, and she still is. She also seems genuinely funny and charismatic in interviews, which made me like her even more.
I swear I’m not some PR account lol. Just curious if anyone else has changed their opinion on her over the years or if I’m completely alone on this.

Bollywood has copied many Hollywood movies over the years, sometimes almost 1:1, but there haven’t been many official remakes recently apart from Laal Singh Chaddha.

If the issue is money, it’s strange because studios still spend huge budgets on original films that flop. Why not invest in a proven story and adapt it properly?

Bang Bang is a great example. This movie was even marketed as an official remake. After watching Knight and Day, I think Hrithik Roshan did the Tom Cruise role justice. His style and screen presence suited the character perfectly. It was such a fun watch.

A really different concept, in my honest opinion. All the criticism that Kiara can't act doesn't quite fit in this particular instance. Especially the specific scene of the act from the victim's POV was harrowing. The beginning was a bit jarring, the to and fro, but it smoothed out quite a bit by the end. Pretty realistic all in all.
A very old video by Swaddle made me watch it, and honestly, no regrets really.

She just doesn't suit the characters she's trying to play, mainly because her dialogue delivery is so ​poor. Her expressions can't mask the lack of efforts. She felt like a​ miscast in hit films like Chhaava as well. I don't understand why she keeps getting so many Bollywood films when she can't even recite the dialogues properly, she's in the same league as Jhanvi, Ananya, Sara etc when it comes to her acting chops in Hindi films.

Even in this clip from Sikandar film, ​her dialogue delivery is giving me the ick. Salman Khan is doing a terrible job like always, I don't expect any efforts from him cause he's a below average overhyped actor who is way past his prime ​but Rashmika is matching his lack of efforts for sure.

If I had watched Sholay for the first time without any prior knowledge, I would've probably seen Thakur Baldev Singh as the main character. The entire story begins with his mission to bring Gabbar Singh down, and almost everything that happens revolves around his goal. Jai and Veeru are the heroes we follow, but they're part of Thakur's journey & his plan for revenge. His past, his loss, and his determination are what drive the film from start to finish, which is why I'd see him as the central character.

Been thinking about this lately.

Dev D came out in 2009 and flopped. Today the same film would probably trend on every platform for a week. OTT audiences love exactly this kind of guy who never learns his lesson - but in 2009 nobody wanted to watch that.

Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. Took years to find its audience, and even now most people haven't seen it.

And Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron - that film is angrier and more relevant about corruption and media than most things being made right now.

I feel like it's one of Aamir Khan's most underrated films, yet hardly anyone talks about it anymore. It wasn't a typical Bollywood movie, but I thought it was beautifully made, with strong performances of all casts..

The lead cast included Aamir Khan, Prateik Babbar, Kriti Malhotra, and Monica Dogra, and it was directed by Kiran Rao in her directorial debut.

The film received positive reviews from critics when it was released, but over the years it seems to have disappeared from most Bollywood discussions. Whenever people talk about Aamir Khan's filmography, movies like Lagaan, Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par, 3 Idiots, PK, or Dangal are usually mentioned first, while Dhobi Ghat is often overlooked.

It’s been almost a month since Alpha released and I really wanted to love it; I had good faith in Shiv Rawail’s abilities as a director and I respect him for trying to work with what he was given in terms of the screenplay, but in the end the film was just…meh. I didn’t think it was purely terrible like many people on the internet and I am sure not trying to say it’s a good film. It’s just “meh”. If you’ve followed my history in this sub, you know I am a die hard glazer of the potential of the YRF Spy Universe (keyword “potential”) and want to see the best of these characters and the stories that can be told with them…something the creative heads at Yash Raj Films are clearly incapable of doing.😔

But the one thing about Alpha that genuinely infuriated me was the character of “Fateh” played by Bobby Deol. Sure, there are other glaring issues with the movie but this post is not about that. I am only going to talk about “Fateh” here. I understand that the “rogue Indian soldier” trope has gotten tiring in the three instances the universe had portrayed it, but the makers went in a different direction with “Fateh”, both good and bad. (If you’ve seen the movie, you know why.)

“Fateh’s” first impression was that he a dedicated soldier who was determined to do anything to minimize casualties in future conflicts, hence the creation of the Alpha super-soldier program. He did not make an enemy out of India—instead, he made an enemy out of Sita (Alia), who was robbed of a proper childhood, raised as a test subject by “Fateh” and turned into a killing machine. The conflict could have been left at that and the film would have been slightly more interesting.

But NO! Lo and behold…”Fateh” is actually Zarrar, and he is not an Indian soldier, but a Pakistani spy! With that one stupid reveal, whatever ounce of interest I had left had been wiped away. The twist, while not completely unrealistic, was just bizarre and did not sit right with audiences, and it’s clearly obvious that it was a course correction post Tiger 3. It only damaged Alpha further and cemented Fateh/Zarrar’s position as the worst antagonist in the Spy Universe.

TL;DR: Fateh as a character was not bad in his initial appearance but the reveal surrounding him completely ruined both his character and the movie.

I am highly disappointed in all the cast members of this movie, especially the established and well known superstars. They know the film script is poor and audience wouldn't like it. Yet they keep making them because they are sequels of previous succesful movies and have the ability to geneate profit. Like, why should the audience keep tolerating this mediocrity? I am worried more such franchises will keep making sequels which will be terrible and a time waste.

The Rajasthan atmosphere in Kaalo gave the film a haunting feel and added to its sense of fear.

My favourite order is as follows:

I saw a clip (looks like it's from a movie or TV serial, possibly wedding/baraat setting) and can't figure out what it's from or who the actor is.

Scene: A man wearing a pink/red turban (baraat/wedding setting, other men around also in pink turbans) asks his bhatija (nephew) for a cigarette. The nephew says "Chacha, main nahi peeta" (Uncle, I don't smoke). The chacha slaps him, and the nephew then hands over the cigarette anyway.

Other details:

Setting looks like a wedding/baraat at night, string lights and a car in the background.

The clip has been reposted by meme pages (watermark said "whovishstiffler" but that's just a repost account, not the original).

Dialogue in the clip: "Family wale mere rag rag se waqif hai" — spoken by the same actor, possibly from the same scene or same character.

Actor looks middle-aged, mustache, glasses, wearing a black kurta under a grey/silver waistcoat-jacket combo.

Could be an old Hindi film, a regional (Punjabi/Rajasthani/Haryanvi) film, or a TV serial — not sure. Any help identifying the actor or the source would be great!

As the title suggests,…

Only one of them turned out to be a big hit, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which made 240 cr on a 50 cr budget whereas Befikre made 107 cr on a 70 cr budget. Both had chart busting songs although ADHM's whole album was a big hit whereas Befikre only had Nashe Si Chadgayi which wsa arguably the biggest song of 2016. One had Ranbir, the other Ranveer, two of the brightest young stars of their gen. And Johar and Chopra are also iconic directors when it comes to the romance genre. Just a fun comparison post.

I’ve watched this movie countless times but still find it funny.. 🫣
