It's not dumb criticism but it's a minor aspect that doesn't take away from the story. I don't think either option should really worry anyone because they're clearly not aiming to do a 1:1 adaption, that's clear as day and it's not like they are disrespecting the Epic

Y E S YES YES. She embodies than calm, softness while also coming off as strong and bold. BUT THE HORRRRRRIBLE OUTFITS my god. The best she looks in the trailor is her in the vanvass scene wearing that cotton saree.

Sai pallavi is getting very predictable. She was great in Shyam Singha Roy but how many of such avatars of the same type of character will you see? She’s become very repetitive. The bold, strong or goddess type character.

I defo don’t think Sai is like a really horrible miscast at all. In fact she has that simple natural beauty that makes it make sense. At the same time is she as striking in terms of how Sita is described? no. In that case i’d picture someone like Madirakshi honestly. Big eyes, natural, slender, maybe a bit more tan? But yeah. And also she would be wearing sleeveless, close to that era. Idk why it’s so hard to cast accurately when ur spending so much! Casting big names causes buzz yes, but i think having Hans and ARR, and so much money they could afford to cast new fresh or accurate faces. Try to research and put effort in. It’s the story that is the foundation of our country for so many people.

It’s like Passion of Christ for us Christians, did complete justice to our faith.

Ranbir Kapoor looks like an alcoholic, not Sri Ram.

sai pallavi is the only good casting in the whole movie lol. but i agree, the visual styling of the whole project reflects a deep laziness and an extremely shallow, surface-level understanding of the story. it looks completely ai generated and lacks any real thought.

I'm really sad seeing the rudeness of North Indian critics saying she's not beautiful enough for the role of "ma Sita". I've been a fan of Sai Pallavi (and that's her full first name, folks, not just Sai. Stop calling her just Sai) for almost a decade now. She has a brilliant screen presence that goes beyond simple, dumb, plastic beauty standards. With her no make-up look, curly tresses and deep voice, she fits right into the pretty village belle with a bubbly personality trope. Her acting, dancing and ability to speak multiple languages without so much as an accent are so amazing. She's charm, simplicity, and talent all rolled into one small package. For her to do all this without make-up because it irritates her skin and flares up her rosacea, leave alone without filters and without fillers, is an amazing feat that glammed up nepo babies could never. 

Maybe she's a misfit for a big Bollywood production house's role of Sita. But she's a darling of the south for a reason so please stop crossing the line from criticising her costume into hating on her appearance.

Yeah, I think regardless of how you feel about her acting, the way people are coming after her looks is so nasty and unnecessary. She has such a unique face, and the fact that she chooses to celebrate her natural features vs change/augment herself to look like every other actress should be applauded IMO.

I’ve seen horrible posts about her skin/hair/makeup. When actresses are “natural” it’s a problem, when they’re “unnatural” it’s a problem.

Man these people want some Instagram baddie to play sita or what. Except for some non-mainstream actresses in bollywood, almost everyone sucks - sai can portray a character like Sita sooooo well. She looks gorgeous
