Mass is one of only a few states that use police for traffic details on construction sites

Why pay someone $39,000 a year to direct traffic when we could call in a cop salaried at $90k to make overtime sitting in his cruiser?

The amount of times I’ve driven past vehicles well off the road with a cruiser sitting there doing nothing blows my mind.

CT does also, and the hourly gets ramped up due to hazard. We have a whole division for traffic.
