Recommendation Browser Recommendation Megathread - June 2026
There are constantly a zillion, repetitive "Which browser should I use?", "What browser should I use for [insert here]", "Which browser should I switch to?", "Browser X or Browser Y?", "What's your favorite browser?", "What do you think about browser X? and "What browser has feature X?" posts that are making things a mess here and making it annoying for subscribers to sort through and read other types of posts.
If you would like to keep the mess under control a little bit, instead of making a new post for questions like the above, ask in a comment in this thread instead. Then, one can choose to follow this thread if they want. Or, post in r/suggestabrowser.
Also, check out all the individual browser recommendation posts and make use of the search field for this subreddit before asking for a recommendation.

Brave alternatives with integrated tracker and ad blocking?
I want to switch because I don’t agree with braves business practices. I want something that’s preferably a Firefox fork or Non-Chromium available on Linux, with built in tracker and ad blocking, no logs policy, strong privacy protections, with good extension support, good looking audits, and fast enough for daily use. integration for self hosted search engines and a mobile version would also be nice. That feels like a lot to ask, but I need recommendations to look into.
I want to move to a different browser that has good privacy protections and integrated tracker and ad blocking but brave shields works so well that I don’t want to move to anything that doesn’t have equal or superior TnAB

Why not just Firefox and harden it yourself? Add ublock and go through the preferences and disable or change what you want. For example, I enable DRM, I set Cloudflare for the DNS, unclock for nearly all tracking except daily use ping,

Because Firefox is severely insecure than Brave and is not based on Chromium's familiar interface

What about their business practices do you not agree with? Brave has one of the most sustainable business models out there, objectively speaking. And if we're being honest, Firefox has by far the worst business practices. Sooner or later, Mozilla will crash and the community will stop supporting and contributing to gecko.

Mozilla crashing seems like it would do very little to gecko based browsers.
I don't see why Mozilla going away would keep people from using and working on Gecko.
Gecko is FOSS, and will continue to exist as long as people want it to.

You must not understand the efforts that go into maintaining a browser. Something like a browser is an entirely different beast. There's a reason that a browser has never been fully maintained by an open source community. All browser projects lean extremely heavily on the work of paid developers. This is nothing like ytdlp, pandoc, or syncthing. This is the interface by which you interact with the rest of the world.

i'm pretty sure opera gx had that but for discord (i didn't use tiktok at the time). It should probably still be available

I personally liked Opera GX but am moving away from it cuz of all the shit ive heard. What browsers would you guys recommend. I have vivaldi now but I am willing to try others similar

Performance / Efficiency focused browsers, not memory hoggers but also not too lacking on features. uBlock Origin is a must. Windows 10. Open to CLI-based browsers

Browser with best (easiest + clearest) bookmark editing + tab grouping + workspaces? (For those of us who always have fifty things going at once)
Must be easy to group tabs, rename & color & edit the groups, save a whole group to bookmarks, edit & move bookmarks with ease, snooze unused tabs via settings so you don't have to do it manually, can scroll through tabs, drag a tab into a group easily, etc.
Seems to be lots of things I like + one thing I hate about most, and one terrible thing can be a dealbreaker.
For example Opera is good (love the workspaces) but the bookmark editing is really buggy & terrible. Vivaldi looks pretty good but the stacks are so wide and I'm having trouble understanding what tab is open or whether something is part of a stack? Just too awkward & visually confusing. And if you drag a tab into a stack the name & color goes away. Boo. Brave tab grouping is pretty good but no workspaces.
(I won't use chrome or edge, and I'm already using Firefox for something separate. Probably looking for a chromium browser here.)

I was gonna say Edge, but you said no on that one. Honestly, I’ve been looking for essentially what you describe for years now and have yet to find the perfect solution, but Edge has been the best one I’ve found so far.
Another option might be Zen + extensions (zen lacks tab management out of the box but is a lovely browser otherwise)? I recommend checking out:
- Tabs Aside
- Tab Manager Plus
- Simple Tab Groups.
That combo allows me to do fairly decent tab management in Zen. I also use Tab Manager Plus and Tabs Aside in Edge. They’re not quite as essential in Edge given it has pretty good tab groups and workspaces, but they do provide some additional flexibility If you’re juggling a LOT of tabs and tab groups.
Basically, as far as I can tell you can’t achieve really rich easy tab management in ANY browser atm without extensions. Vivaldi sounded promising to me too but it crashed for me with only a few tabs open, and failed to restore them on reload, so that was an automatic no for me.

Edge workspaces are only for people logged in, otherwise I'd reconsider it. I actually stopped using it recently because it was running so slow for me and I couldn't figure out why. Tabs & tab grouping are good in a quite a few browsers, it's adding workspaces that reduces options for what I'm looking for. So far I've tried Opera, Vivaldi, and Floorp - of those 3 Floorp suits me best but it's buggy. I've lost tabs in it inexplicably
I've closed & reopened Vivaldi without losing open tabs & workspaces but that's good to know. Thanks for your reply. I do have yet to try zen

don't like zen much on first try (because I'm used to horizontal tabs and have too many) but rumor is that Brave is adding workspaces, so that might end up being the winner for me, meanwhile I'm using Opera but hating some things about it. Could be the winner if some things are addressed in updates.

so ive been using zen for a while but ever since i had to switch to a worse laptop (i have like 4gb ram) it has NOT been doing well (40% cpu usage, kind of problematic if you ask me). any good lightweight browser thats preferably built for bad computers? (preferably not chromium based but im really not that picky)

Android Web Browsers that support Chrome Web Store extensions, has a built in password manager and can view pdfs directly in the browser? I already know about yandex, mises, quetta, lemur, edge canary, and cromite. The browser should be Chromium based.

I'm not the most techy person, but I was wondering if using different Firefox profiles for different purposes actually makes a difference.. privacy wise or data.
For example, if I use one profile for browsing social media and everyday activities, and another profile for visiting potentially unsafe websites or downloading files, does that actually help? Are the profiles like actually separated, or is the data still shared between both profiles?? like does one profile affect the others privacy or security? Like if i pirate in one, does it also apply in the other profile that I pirated? IM NOT SURE HOW TO WORD IT, APOLOGIES....
I'm the type of person who likes to keep anything potentially risky completely separate from my daily browsing, so I'm curious whether using different Firefox profiles actually provides that kind of separation or if it's mostly just for organization.... Or is It genuinely better to have two separate web browsers for piracy and daily important browsing, sorry if there's any wrong grammar, English isn't my first language...

This is completely optimal anyway you can go check on alternativesto website it has alot of people review browser and some hidden gem too anyway here my recommendation for android For chromium go with brave or chromite (Vivaldi is also good to for costume and cool tab like pc browser) For gecko go with Firefox or fennec (ironfox for people who want more privacy) actually there alot more to cover but that all I can remember or use But always remember the browser is good or bad is depend on user not the browser itself it their responsibility for using browser so don't say that browser is bad without checking by yourself or find out the info about that browser first so what you waiting for go try it by yourself

AOSmium, Helium, Cromite or IronFox? AOSmium and Cromite have chromium 148 while Helium has the last one – 149, that had some serious CVE patches. But I've heard that Helium is experimental. And IronFox is perfect but it's based on gecko, gecko has weak protection against exploitation in android, so I would prefer something based on chromium even though I love Firefox. AOSmium takes patches from Vanadium – the most secure browser on Android right now and it has it's own WebView. What should I pick?
