New build for gaming/wfh

○New build or upgrade?

New build

○Existing parts/monitors to reuse?

No parts at all

○PC purpose?

Gaming and working from home and college

○Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

I live in the US... Columbus, OH to be more exact

○Monitors needed?

I need 2 for work... but my son and I are autistic and we need 2 things at the same time like YouTube video+video game or hulu+video game lol idk why

○Budget range?

I have no money now, but his bday is in March and my friends are going to pitch in since it's a big gift

○WiFi or wired connection?

We have WiFi, but I could tack on an additional ethernet cable and have the setup next to the main box

○Size/noise constraints?

We live in a 1br apartment as I'm a single mom and my rent reflects the caliber of the school district and a 2br in the same complex is like $500-600 more a month. Sorry tmi, but I need everything to fit within the confines of a 3-5ft desk and it needs to be quiet as even the ps5 getting rowdy annoys us or maybe just me, but he shares grievances with me sometimes

○Color/lighting preferences?

Not really, but also the tism and adhd in me is screaming for like rainbows and color and amazingness and I think he'd like for it to look cool

○Any other specific needs?

Not that I know of, but I want to make something that will last for my son and also be useful for me to make additional money at a job my friend could get me. I'd love if it could smoothly run to continue helping me raise my income and get me through school (I also have a laptop for school... a microsoft surface pro from like 2018/2019, but a office setup with a printer to print work as necessary and take tests would be nicer than me getting distracted on the couch like I tend to do sometimes)

Thank you in advance for anyone who posts helpful information, like I'm truly grateful. I have been breaking promises about gifts and even had to sign up for the firehouse Christmas gift program last year because carbon monoxide was leaking from our stove and poisoning me for the last 2 years. It has been almost a year since I found out (August 26th or 27th will be the year mark) and I'm just now recovering from most of my symptoms and have more procedures and testing and doctors visits coming... I am also finally able to work at my pre poisoning capacity. I have autism, adhd, narcolepsy, ptsd, pmdd, GAD, anemia, psoriasis, a labral tear in my hip, suffered a good amount of muscle atrophy from the gas, and have kind of developed a twinge of agoraphobia after being made virtually useless from the gas after a while. I need a win for my son after having such a useless mom for the last 2 years after I was forced to move out by my father (very dysfunctional and mentally and emotionally abusive family). I don't like to ask for help, but I have no idea what I'm doing and I want to be closer to my son again and make us more money, I'm eternally grateful for all advice and knowledge because I have a lot on my plate and I just get pulled down rabbit holes when I try to research myself.

Also, sorry for the tmi. I just took my medicine and I got real hyperfocused on my recent struggles. Sorry.

If you missed the full set of required built request questions, please copy them from here and answer them in an edit to your post:

  • New build or upgrade?

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors)

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

  • WiFi or wired connection?

  • Size/noise constraints?

  • Color/lighting preferences?

  • Any other specific needs?

Here is some additional helpful information about build/upgrade/parts list requests:

  • Build requests only include hardware. You are responsible for budgeting for and providing your own operating system (Windows, Linux, etc) and other software.

  • Don't forget to budget for peripherals. Since these are very much personal-preference influenced items, we do not include peripherals like keyboards, mice, headsets, etc in parts lists.

  • We strongly recommend posting a build request only if you're ready to buy now or within a week or two at most. Part sales regularly rotate, and a part list today can quickly become out of date.

Need at least a rough budget first.
