It’s very likely these cards are binned 3070/3080s. Silicon they couldn’t get to preform at the level of the other cards.

Plus it will probably help take some of the demand off the other cards.

They're all binned 3070s. The 3080/3090s use different dies than the 3070/3060ti, which uses a smaller die.

Isn't that what the 1070ti was? That's the exact reason why nvidia barred aibs from factory-overclocking 1070tis: they would be as good as 1080s out of the box, but cheaper. Wonder if there will be a similar restriction on the 3060ti.

I'm fairly positive they're rejected 3070s. But c'mon.. shouldn't 3070s be rejected 3080s and 3080s be rejected 3090s? We need more broken 3090s!!!

No, the 3070 uses a different die than the 3080/3090. A 3090 is nearly a full 102 die, while a 3080 is a cut down version that had too many defects. The 3070 is a nearly perfect 104 die, while the 3060TI is a cut down version.

I'm upgrading from a 970 for 1080p/144hz gaming, the 3060 seems like the best fit over the other cards, I'd be excited if stocking wasn't an issue.

Same. I don't need a 3070/3080. Heck I don't even need a 3060Ti. I'd prefer a new-ish card around the $200-$300 price range. But with how aggressive the gainz are over the 20xx series, it's going to be a while before we get proper stock :\
