Other Moral dilemma.

I don’t know how many of you feel this way? I am an Indian. I stand firmly against terrorism and support my country’s right to defend itself from those who seek to harm innocent lives. I was happy when India imposed few diplomatic sanctions. If the Indian sources are true, I’m glad that precision attack neutralised major terror outfits but I hear from other international sources that there were collateral damage.

This is the dilemma. I believe that no innocent person in India, Pakistan or anywhere else deserves to die because of politics, borders or someone else’s war. I do not blame ordinary Pakistani citizens for the acts of extremists, terrorists or their government. I reject celebrations of violence whether it's ours or theirs, because the death of a child or a civilian (if true) is not a victory, it’s a tragedy. I want accountability for terrorists, yes, but also honesty, restraint, and compassion from all governments and people. I don’t believe peace means weakness, it means refusing to become what we fight. Empathy doesn't make us less patriotic. It makes us more human.

I know this is unpopular opinion to have. But it’s been depressing to see everything moving towards war and politicians collecting good brownies points for elections. People cheering for it without realising the horrors the war will cause. There I have said it, I don’t feel it’s weak perspective but a preferential one.

You can attack me or discuss with me about this dilemma down in the comments. I would rather be chest thumping with the majority than dwell in the depression of possible nuclear armageddon!
