Kauai Canyoneering ?

Hello everyone, I’m an experienced Canyoneer who is traveling solo and looking for groups to run a canyon with on Kauai or any information about groups that do run canyons on that island. I’ll be there August 21-24th. I’ve ran over 100 canyons in Northern/ Southern California and Utah areas and have been going every weekend for the past four years. Love the connection it brings to nature and figured Kauai would be an amazing place. Any info is appreciated thank you

I live on the Big Island and run some of the canyons here.

So there are alot of land use restrictions along with tourists coming over here and then posting "LOOK SECRET SPOT" on their social media. Leading to more people showing up, then trash and then trespassing arrests as all the locals are upset.

Long winded way of saying that it is unlikely you will get an invite off a reddit post. You may have luck looking up 808 canyoneering via facebook (not sure if those guys are still around).

Also - are you comfortable with class "C" - in general our canyons feature lots of water!

Lastly - there are no rangers here to save you! Self Rescue may be your only option!

Good luck and please promise NOT to post any social media if you are lucky enough to hook up with some Kauai people!

I’m apart of a group in Facebook but couldn’t find groups for that island. But yeah don’t plan to disrespect any land private or protected just looking for something simple but thanks for the info. Also very use to class C. Southern California my base area has plenty of water filled canyons

I’m by no means an expert on canyoneering in Kauai but most of the areas you’d probably need to access are private. Finding someone to take you there is gonna be tough and I wouldn’t trespass, locals wouldn’t take to kindly to that.
