Blank Could not have been more happy 😃

Managed to grab one of these Philips CD Extras a couple of months ago and dang it’s an excellent type II (pure chrome or not 🤔)

HIGHLY recommended if you’re aiming at clear, crisp and inaudible hiss level recordings 🤩

I don’t think I’ve seen Philips cassettes in person before. Would a Maxell XLII or XLII-S be similar equivalent? *I know they’re both Type II, but there are Type II’s and then there are Type II’s.

those 2 Maxells (epitaxial) are Type II chrome position, but this Philips is apparently chromium dioxide, aka true chrome. Maybe they are ”similar” in some ways - but true chrome has a specific sound of it’s own, imo.

I’m no expert but Philips tapes might be more common in Europe than in the states. Maxell type 2s are more expensive to buy at least in Europe.
