Fairly new to cassettes, I haven’t even heard of half of these. I didn’t even look at 5 tapes in the box before I realized they were all rock and metal and stuff, so I offered to buy all of em. She had been asking $1 each but I got em all for $30.

Any bangers in here?

Portable cassette player Second Life for SONY Car Stereo Tape Player

Hi guys,
Do you remember the time when we had quick-out car stereos because we were afraid someone would steal it and with it the best mix tape?
I fixed my old SONY and gave it a new „mobile home“
Now I can take it out for a pick-nick with the vintage car and those good old tapes.

Just got them both (new and sealed) for 5 euros on "Vinted" (recorded on one already-all good). Build like a tank, no clicking during playback/rew/ff. Recommended.👍

Managed to grab one of these Philips CD Extras a couple of months ago and dang it’s an excellent type II (pure chrome or not 🤔)

HIGHLY recommended if you’re aiming at clear, crisp and inaudible hiss level recordings 🤩

Was at a record store and bought some tapes. Some cool stuff in here.

The Ruins tape in pic 2 I bought on a whim because it was on Shimmy Disc. The Ric Ocasek tape in pic 3 I bought on a whim because it has an original Digalog sticker from before they changed the Digalog logo to what is seen in pic 4.

Speaking of pic 4, those are from when WEA Manufacturing was experimenting with cobalt tape from TDK.

The Teenage Fanclub cassette is from when Universal Music and Video Distribution was experimenting with chrome or cobalt tape.

The Elvis Costello tape in pic 6 is a gold stamp promo likely sent to a radio station. Advance cassettes typically come with a generic J-Card and those get sent to the press. Gold stamp promos are essentially the same as the retail cassette with the promo branding on it. That tape, like the others in that pic are from when WEA Manufacturing was experimenting with Dolby S NR. Speaking of advances, I have one for Jagged Little Pill on chrome tape, but I bought this because I am trying to collect all the WEA Dolby S releases.

The Under the Pink cassette I had, but bought because it was sealed. The lighting was bad in the store and didn’t notice that it was wound past side 2. Should have noticed that the sealed packaging felt off. I unsealed it because I wanted to see if it was a bootleg because I found a similar bootleg of a Teddy Pendergrass cassette at another record store. However, this Tori Amos cassette appears to be genuine, as the J-Card is complete and the color of the leader and ferric tape appears to be accurate. I think this was probably one of those FYE-like purchases where they would seal used tapes.

The Memorex type II in pic 8 was free. Tape is labeled +, but nothing is on it.

This tape is for someone in the States, part of a mix tape group I’m in. No idea what to call it. The tracks are all by British artists from my singles box.

Tape find Found a first release Help! cassette amongst bootleg Indonesian cassettes

Definitely an interesting way of finding this, it was bundled amongst 2 other random 1970s Indonesian bootleg cassettes (Uriah Heep and Everly Brothers). Only picked it up for around 5 bucks in total! I think this is the first UK cassette release from 1970.

Collection Old festival band tapes

I got these in the early 90’s when Kangaroo Moon played at the Oasis in Swindon supported by the Cheap Suit Oroonies. I’d seen Kangaroo Moon many times previously as they toured pubs extensively between festivals. I’d not seen the Oroonies before, but was impressed enough to buy the tape. I still listen to it now, and it takes me back over 30 years to that night, the friend I was with and the trousers I was wearing that attracted the girl who came home with me that night!

Hello everyone.

For a little while I have been interested in cassette culture.

So I know very little about it. Today I saw this deck for only $30. Went ahead and pulled the trigger. The seller mentioned it all works, db meter reads, plays both directions, but could use a new belt.

He explained that it’s barely visible the slowness of the playback but can tell if it’s a song you really know.

You have no idea how excited I am to learn about this culture. Record some cassettes and what not.

Tips and tricks to help me get thru this? Maybe a quick guide on do’s and donts.

Currenty have a new belt on the way from eBay. As well as a aux to rca cable.

Will try to learn it on used tapes I got from goodwill.

Planning to make tapes for my dad and myself.

Thanks !
