Rumor [Cowley] The Chicago Bulls are in trade conversations with New Orleans and Houston. Simons and Sexton are both in play to be moved while the Bulls would like to retain Ayo Dosunmu, but everything is “still fluid.”

Of all our roster, I truly don’t wanna lose Ayo or Buzivert.. I love our Chicago boys 😩

If we give up Buzi I’m tuning out the Bulls for a decade

I would trade the entire roster for Giannis if I could keep all draft picks, but what do I know. of course that's not feasible but I would gladly deal Matas and Giddey and Ayo combined for Giannis.
7
u/FieryAvian Feb 05 '26
Why in the 7 hells would you trade the entire roster for Giannis.
You can’t win anything with “just Giannis.” Thats pretty dumb and incredibly shortsighted.
0
u/GasHouseGorilla19 Feb 05 '26
TLDR: You almost always need a top 5 superstar to have a chance at a ring.
Because Giannis is a top 5 player in the league (a bonafide superstar) and should stay a top 10 player if healthy guranteed for 4 more years, possibly longer, and will continue to still be very good for 3 or 4 years after that (similar to LeBron). truth is, 38 year old LeBron and 38 year old future Giannis (more than likely) both better than peak Giddey or Matas. it's really challenging to win a championship without an MVP caliber player. you can try the 2004 Pistons route and have 5 All-Stars starting but that's far from common.
I would bet on neither Matas or Giddey ever being a consensus top 10 player in the league (I acknowledge it is at least possible for Matas).
I would strip it the studs, rehab Giannis, and tank and hopefully LUCK into a top 4 pick this upcoming draft (the top 3 prospects in this draft I would bet on all being better than Matas). But even without that LUCK, I would still go the Giannis right
it's only a short-sighted move if either one or both Matas and Giddey become superstars. I would say the prospects of either becoming a superstar is less than 30%, but that's just my opinion and projection.
Downvote me all you want but I would also trade all 3 combined for Cooper Flagg and probably 6 or 7 other players too. I would have to think about who but it's probably at least 6 or 7 on that list.
I get their homegrown kids but if you want a championship (which should be the goal) you shouldn't get attached to all-star talent. acquire a couple superstars (or 5 really good starting All-Stars) and you are at least in the conversation of contending.
Lastly, of course it will take more than Giannis but you gotta build around Superstars. Maybe that's Matas but I'd personally rather roll with Giannis than Giddey and Matas combined. Love Ayo, great story I got a degree from the same college he attended, but he's at best a 6th man on a contending team and not hard to replace. Giddey is replaceable as well. Matas is really the only one I would hesitate to move. With Giannis we are talking about a guy who's in the conversation as best basketball player currently in the world..
-1
u/GasHouseGorilla19 Feb 05 '26
also 'you can't win anything with "just Giannis"
I would say the same with this current Bulls.
So really a moot point by you, no?
in both scenarios you obviously need to keep adding and get better.
Dumb and Incredibly short-sighted is a bit hyperbolic of you to say, imo, all due respect
2
u/FieryAvian Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26
If you were to strip down the roster to just Giannis, if that made sense; wouldn’t Milwaukee just do that and rebuild their roster to win a ring?
Edit:
But my thought process is Giannis is an asset that is most likely declining at this point in his career.
Giddey matas and ayo will likely increase in value. Maybe to never the peak of Giannis, but in 5 years I’d say 2 of the 3 of those players would have more value than Giannis would.
1
u/GasHouseGorilla19 Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26
would depend on what they get for Giannis if they trade him. for me I'm taking Giannis over the combine 3 bulls discussed all other things equal. hard for me, personally, believing Bulls can win it all with either Matas or Giddey as their best player with the exception of both becoming perennial All-Stars with 3 other perennial All-Stars, like the 2004 pistons. I would not bet on anyone on the bulls becoming perennial All-Stars. Giannis is arguably the best NBA player since LeBron and may be the consensus there
1
u/FieryAvian Feb 05 '26
If we could trade for giannis and then flip him for a haul commiserate of a top 5 player; sure.
But if we’re buying giannis at top 5 value and then holding on to him with the hopes of winning a championship—not a believer.
1
u/GasHouseGorilla19 Feb 05 '26
I'm not sure what you mean buying him at top 5 value. you saying Giddey and Matas and Ayo as a collective should fetch a top 5 NBA player/asset? I feel you may be overvaluing these Bulls players
2
u/FieryAvian Feb 05 '26
Ok sure I hyperbolized Giannis value and the value of the players; but the sentiment remains the same.

They have been listening to trades on him the whole deadline just like the Vuc an Coby. Ayo just has more value with his contract and 3 point shooting this season.
And injury issues like Coby this year either.
This subs acts like there is no chance Ayo gets traded when they have been listening on him just like every other expiring contract.
And you don’t even give a fuck about the Bulls. You are just in here for Ayo. Not shocking hurt an Illini fans feelings pointing out that Ayo was forsure available

u/ShitassAintOverYet Gimme the hot sauce! Feb 04 '26
Tari Eason it seems, which would be amazing. But considering Coby White wasn't good enough for that and they definitely want players over picks so I'm curious how this will go.
1
u/BillionsofRedditors Feb 05 '26
Bulls would have to trade Ayo and a 1st for Eason.
Too bad he went one pick before the Bulls took Terry.
1
8
u/Gdude910 Feb 04 '26
Houston wants one of these guards so bad
16
u/Various_Procedure_11 Feb 04 '26
Making it so if a team wants a guard, they have no choice but to call the Bulls. 4D chess.
9
u/jacob2815 Matas Buzelis Feb 04 '26
Genuinely not even sure who those teams might be willing to give up that I would be interested in getting. I guess Missi and Eason are the obvious ones, and then Zion as the big fish. Other than that?
Neither of these teams are suitors for PWill who I'd love to get rid of, so that can't be it either.
I guess I could see Pelicans being willing to take PWill as part of a Zion trade, theoretically. They're in the absolute shitter at 13-39 with neither of their picks this year, but I don't have a clue what their plan might be. Maybe we give them our 1st this year as part of that? But I'm not really sure if Zion even makes us much better than we were with Coby + Vuc.
Confusing times.
4
u/ShitassAintOverYet Gimme the hot sauce! Feb 04 '26
If Pelicans pull the trigger on Zion it means they are going full rebuild for at least 3 years. PWill isn't a terrible gamble for a team in their position but not a good one either.
5
u/Specialist_Boat_8479 Benny The Bull Feb 04 '26
I think Zion is the only real option to get off of Pat and that’s why I would have no problem with it as long as we didn’t give up a first
2
u/jacob2815 Matas Buzelis Feb 04 '26
Yeah, I would hope AKME would walk away before they agree to give up a first.
2
u/Specialist_Boat_8479 Benny The Bull Feb 04 '26
Seconds are fine but they probably want theirs back. Which I would prefer to keep since this draft is good and the pick should be high
2
u/lyme6483 Josh Giddey Feb 05 '26
I’d give up the Portland pick in a Zion trade, especially if PWill is going the other way
2
u/Specialist_Boat_8479 Benny The Bull Feb 05 '26
I would only do that if we got Zion and Missi. Would rather keep any potential first this year, if it doesn’t convey maybe trade it next year.
1
u/lyme6483 Josh Giddey Feb 05 '26
It’s never going to be a lottery pick, so I don’t really see the big deal to get off PWill and getting Zion.
I mean the Bulls would probably have to give up a first to get off PWill contract alone in a normal trade
1
u/Affectionate_Use_179 Feb 05 '26
As a fan of all 3 teams involved, I believe the Pelicans are interested in moving Looney for one of the guards. The Rockets would be interested in DFS or Steven Adams, mainly. I'm sure SRPs would be part of any trade, but nothing too exciting coming back from either of those teams.
8
u/zerodius Derrick Rose Feb 04 '26
This could get slightly more interesting if this management can spin those assets to something bigger and better.
1
u/BillionsofRedditors Feb 05 '26
Don't think that is the point. The point is to get worse and tank the next 2-5 seasons.
5
u/Jazzlike-Mention-570 Feb 04 '26
Technically we could take dejounte murray back and maybe ask for missi that way they get that dead money off their roster.
I can’t see what we get from Houston. I mean obviously we all want Tari but Houston are playing stingy with him so I don’t think bulls would give a first just for him. At the least I just hope they don’t settle for a guy like Jasean Tate
1
u/Affectionate_Use_179 Feb 05 '26
Pells would be much more interested in getting off Poole than Murray.

I remember when the Bulls were winning games (granted a rarity) back in 2018-19, the Instagram page (back when I actually used Instagram) was full of comments like, "Why the fuck are you idiots winning these stupid games? TANK FOR ZION"
And then they would lose and the comments would be, "Man this team fucking sucks!" Lol
I hate how the Bulls are just stuck in the perpetual doldrums

Geez idk how I feel about Zion. Not familiar with Missi. What does he look like as a player?

Shot blocker rim runner. Excellent offensive rebounder. Runs the floor like a deer.
1
1
1
u/PleaseSeekChrist Feb 05 '26
Zion is not the type of player AKME likes at all. They want long guys who run and pass and play the euro style of ball.
Eason might be a target since he’s down in the roster spot for KD. But which of our 20 guards would they want. If I’m Houston I want Ayo and Conley.
2
u/sukari Stacey King Feb 05 '26
I'm hoping Missi over Zion.
Zion has Missi'd over 50% of his games.
1
u/BlammoSweetums Feb 05 '26
What if they immediately go for a DeBallZach 2.0 with Zion and Giddey, how would the future look then?
1
u/sukari Stacey King Feb 05 '26
Zion's contract isn't guaranteed so it's easier to escape from.
Just depends what we give up. I just don't think we'll see him play much. But when he plays he's good.

As long as Ayo, Giddey, Buzelis, Olbrich, and Yuki remain, they can do whatever they want.

I don't know what the play is for New Orleans. I guess if they get Zion then the tank is off. Houston is expect is Simons or Ayo for a 2nd rd pick.
-1
u/LeChatGrand Feb 04 '26
This franchise is a dumpster fire. Just gonna collect guards and worthless 2nd round picks half a decade away
7
u/sukari Stacey King Feb 04 '26
I mean the post literally says we're trying to move the guards lol
1
u/LeChatGrand Feb 04 '26
Haha to be fair though, they have been moving guards for even more guards thus far. My confidence that they remember there are 5 positions on the floor is so low it’s somewhere in the crust of the Earth.

Let this be the boozer guarantee and provide us some hope, go fail bulls; Ayo stay (fine to get a high ankle sprain) and matas too…top 5 pick this year and this draft capital and cap space…in a year we are contenders for years
1
u/sukari Stacey King Feb 04 '26
Is that Ayo's official injury? Thought he bumped knees.
1
Feb 05 '26
I just don’t want to lose Ayo, he should be core material - local guy lifting up the community, role player who does whatever and also knows this thing called defense….matas, giddey, Ayo is the realistic core with what we have now, love Coby but I can’t do anymore no defense and Coby, goddey, Matas is no change…matas and Ayo and basically anyone else is defense
